I’m super super new to dnd and in the process of making my character from SCRATCH and I found out Sorcerers need a spell sheet so I was super overwhelmed with how other creators make it seem like this very complex thing, but you on the other hand explained it to me so easily. Thank you so so much!
Of course! You are very welcome! I’m super stoked I was able to help! Welcome to this crazy fun hobby haha! I wish you all the best with your character and the stories you’ll tell!
I’ve added this to one of my Chanel’s playlists as I found it tricky to explain character building on the character sheet and since you made a good job of this, you’ve saved me from doing it.
I want to make an important correction. Spell save DC uses 8 + ability score modifier + proficiency bonus. Not 10. Although, your DM might allow 10 if you ask and have a good reason for it 😉
I’m new to dnd and plz answer as soon as u can, do clerics need these sheets? Cuz they do use a decent amount of magic and I’m making a cleric but I’m finding it hard to keep track of everything including if I’m even ment to have a spell sheet
Wait do you have to write all the spells for your class, also how do you know if your class needs to prepare spells also if they do how many can you prepare
Great questions! 1. You only need to write down the spells your character has learned from the spell class list 2. If your class needs to prepare spells, the PHB will tell you in the Spellcasting section of the class features 3. The number of spells you can prepare is also explained in the Spellcasting section of the class. Typically, the number of prepared spells you can have at any time is less than the number of spells you actually know, and you can swap out your prepared spells immediately following a long rest.
You only need to write down the cantrips you want to have, and that is a set number. Wizards can choose three I think, and then different Feats could allow you to have more, like Magic Initiate.
quick question, is it 8 + x modifier + proficiency bonus for all classes or only wizards? i'm trying to make a paladin, and haven't been able to find this information anywhere
Paladin Spellcasting is also 8 + X modifier + proficiency bonus. I’d have to check, but I believe it’s 8 across the board. Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier
And if you play a wizard, the list is insufficient. If you play a Druid or Cleric, you'd have to copy your whole spellist there, and there's not enough space. There are more problems still with it, but you'd better take a white sheet and write on it.

Yeah, if there’s one gripe I have about the sheet it would be the limited space. Although even a second spell sheet would suffice.
Good breakdown but ya 8 instead of 10
Haha that’s what I get for trying from memory. I’ll be double checking things from now on lol.
