  • This video shows Bob White Quail being released into the wild in North Carolina. I love to ride motorcycles but hunting and the great outdoors are another hobby I enjoy with family and friends. Video was filmed using a GoPro Hero 4 and Kubuta Diesel side by side utility vehicle.

    I raise wild California/Valley quail to re-establish quail populations in my area. I do not hunt them, I just love seeing them and I am trying to build the wild quail population in my area. I really enjoy this video. Quail might be my favorite bird to watch.

    Any long term success? According to quail studies in Tx. releasing 'homegrown' quail does not work well. One biologist said releasing 1000 pen-raised quail in 30 days there will be less than 100 birds. Wondering about your success or failure. Thanks.

    Fantastic! Good job on restocking nature!
    I love it!

      Its not a fantastic good job at all, restocking to then shoot and kill them for fun ,that is sick and cold hearted , they are not restocking nature because they care for nature they are restocking just so they can have fun killing the poor animals , disgusting

    I enjoy hunting as much as anyone, the only birds we ever get to hunt are ducks and doves. Coming from somewhere where we have lost 100% of our native quail population, I feel like hunting them would be hard on the population within the first few years. One day when I have land, I hope to do this. I’d probably wait a few years for their numbers to rise though, but all in all, this is awesome! You’re extremely lucky to have this land and have a father who has already thought ahead for the future of the wild game on his farm. Maybe your grandchildren can take their children quail hunting every year without ever raising a bird. Best wishes!

    Great video I'm from the uk here
    We have private sporting estate's where they rear and release Pheasants and partridges for hunting.
    Pheasants are released from open topped pens the birds are wing clipped at 6 weeks prior to Being placed in the pens they are provided with automatic drinkers and feeders, the birds will go into the pens at 6 weeks old and they soon grow their primary feathers back, as cover is left on the ground and some bushes which encourages them to roost of ground, they get out by flying out of the pen but around the bottom of the pen are special entrance hoes with baffles to guide them back in and anti fox. grids, once hunting season starts all birds have been out in the covers for a couple of months.
    Releasing partridges is done on similar grounds to your Bobwhites apart from they go into closed topped pens which vary in size a small size is 8ft by 8ft by 4-5ft high, a pen of this size will accommodate 50 French or English partridge and a pen twice this size a 100 the inside of the pen will be full of cover and furnish with drinkers and feeders both automatic, the birds are released through a small door which is lifted the guy who does all this is called a gamekeeper itz his job, he opens the trap door and for example lets out say 10 from a 8x8 pen he then releases another 10 the following week food and water is provided near to the pen and bales of straw are provided and shelter in the pen this allows the pen birds to be protected from the elements of the weather but just bales are out for the release birds as partridge likes to get up high, the purpose of releasing a few at a time is that the birds inside the pen act as call birds keeping the released birds close.
    As my girlfriend is from the US and the state of North carolina i am hoping to be relocating there once this virus issue is over and i love hunting we call it shooting

    That was awesome, that's a great thing that you guys are doing! I hear them around our house sometimes but nothing like when I was little! Great video!

      @fastfz0976  8 лет назад +1

      Yeah it's pretty cool. A lot of people say the same thing you said. People used to hear them a lot more simply because there were so many in the woods. But they are slowly making a comeback and hopefully what my Dad is doing is making a difference. Thanks for watching. We rode Shady Valley today btw. It was soo hot.

    The "Maggots" under the box are probably black soldier fly larvae.They are the BEST food source for any bird.
    You should move the box after the release so the Quail can eat them> I feed them to my birds every day

    Awesome! Biodiesel and E-85 created demand for land. Farmers ripped out hedgerow and cover in our neck of the woods. Y'All need to have a hare scramble down there in them woods.

    Hi just subbed you and saw this cool video. I just got some eggs off eBay and began hatching my birds. My bob whites are going to be hatching if all goes well in 3 - 4 days god spare life and I can’t wait. Hatched some of the other quails already but these take longer to incubate. Hope all you released makes it but doubt with predators. As far as I know I’m the only person here with quails as we don’t have much wildlife or predators really except the occasional hawk, no snakes, wild animals etc, lots of monkeys though. God bless and keep releasing more videos. Thanks for sharing!

  • @affordablefishing2675
    @affordablefishing2675 5 лет назад +1

    maybe i missed the comment but how long do you keep them in the incubator before moving them to the boxes? where i live my grandpa used to hunt quail but they havnt been here since ive been alive and i would love to reintroduce them. tried it once with my uncle but we only did it one year and i had no idea only about 15% would live through a year, otherwise we would have continued doing it.

    That's the way it should be, you hunt quail and you replenish the stock, its like logging you cut down trees, you replant trees.
    keep the system going. you can't take with out giving

      This was great, been searching for "best quail for eggs" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Eeyila Rudimentary Expediency - (do a search on google ) ? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for discovering how to raise healthy and fertile quail minus the headache. Ive heard some great things about it and my partner got excellent success with it.

    I have been wanting to make one of these for a few years. I have the Know how to build everything but the heater. The Surrogator company sells a few replacement parts for there customers but not the heater. Did your dad rig up his own heater? If so can he share the secret? Thanks

    Evil wicked man ,why would you raise quails to then shoot and kill for fun , hunting and killing birds is not fun but awful , no animal lover would do such thing , anyone who can shoot a animal for fun has a dark cold selfish heart , its usually the rich white man that does this rubbish ....

      Don’t worry idiot it’s not the white man but the natural and un natural predators that kill 90% of them at least he’s doing something to help restore the population albeit not a real good one. Birds should be at least flight pen trained and a little older before released. Wild cats and hawks have a feast on those young birds.But I’m sure their learning and at least trying,better than nothing like the person complaining about white man lol. Ahh wasting my breath. I love those birds and miss them so much, I’ve seen them disappear in just my lifetime of 56 years
