    Hi Pete
Can you do a vid containing all the advice for junior golfers (not beginners who have just started but mid handicapper) such as coaching, practicing, how to lower, handicap, clubs you need etc
That would be really helpful for aspiring golfers like me

There was recent discussion on Australian radio that you need to be +6 to have a chance on tour. That's insanely good.

And you would need to be a +6 in competition not a +6 with your buddies. Big difference there that doesn't get talked about.

@@youtubeaccountidaho9858 hey, this goes to anyone who sees it, i’m 14 and a +0.3 handicap my school just got over and now it is summer and i am going to practice sooo much, what would be a good goal for my handicap by then? Thanks to anyone who responds and have a great day!

    • @foreword_858

farm honestly bro, I would focus on just trying to lower your score by one or two strokes. I think one is realistic, I would work on every part of my game(of course), but specifically reading greens, putting, wedges, and shaping irons into greens, and possibly doing a worst ball scramble to see what you shoot.

      @jakefromstatefarm6375 3 года назад

@@foreword_858 ok thanks i’ll look try that stuff, i like to have lots of goals for stuff, i’ve talked to many people about what i should go for by the end of this summer and they say i can easily be 4-5 shots better(everyone is different i should be a lot better than i am if that makes sense) have a good day!

Thanks Peter for the advice for amateur golfers looking to turn pro !!!!!! I forwarded to my son (Ian-Thomas 19Y/O) who has been playing golf for 3 years and is currently a 2 handicap... He loves all aspects of the game and is turning that into a passion... I firmly believe if a person has a PASSION for anything they can achieve great things..... Hard work, practice, good coaching, work ethics are all parts of the building blocks of becoming great at anything but PASSION is what separate's the good from the GREAT!!! Great video's Peter! It's always a pleasure to view your videos and listen to your candid comments and humor on golf... It is refreshing and top notch mate!!!! Big Smile From Arizona USA

I'm qualified to teach a few subjects in the military and I've found over the years that whilst the lines blur people are generally practical or intellectually based in their learning processes.Personally I'm practical and for me being told how to do something isn't the same as having "hands on" whilst others want to understand the theory before starting. An honest personal assessment of your learning style I think is an important start point

If i have any advice for you it’s how important nutrition and exercise is as well as stretching and flexibility. I never did any of it, and relied on natural talent and athleticism. I also didn’t practice much, and now 29 i sincerely regret handing it with the level of immaturity i did. Hope this helps you or someone :)

Pete, you lucky bloke. Augusta!!! I would love for you to do more of a junior series. My daughters are really enjoying the game but I can see the frustration on their faces when they can't get the ball to do what they want. We have been playing at our home course once to twice a week but they want to do more. I usually let them tee off where I am (there is no kids tees) and then place their ball where my drive ends up. To encourage them, that is where their strokes start to count.

Peter, The best advise ever given "just enjoy it." I forgot that over the years, until I heard either you or Rick say it in one of your videos. At 50+ found I stopped enjoying it and was about to stop it all together. Started to enjoy it, and being a high handicapper, aint to bad, because I have fun with my friends and we get out often now. Thanks

Hi peter, I’m 14 years old and just barely played golf for a year. I shoot around 90 - 99. Because of Covid-19 All the local golf courses and driving ranges are closed, I have a putting Matt and would putt about 3-5 hours a day. I only played with my dad and haven’t learnt from any coaches. I really like to turn pro one day and shoot 70s or even 60s.

When I started playing I was lucky enough to have space to practice my technique and work on building a consistent swing with different clubs. It allowed me to track my shots that were straight or my shots that were struck wrong. I was able to practice 2 to 3 hours a week during the school term and up 6 hours a day or 30-36 hours a week during school holidays. What worked was copying my favourite golfers techniques and practicing it consistently, Phil Mickelson and Gary Player. I am currently working on getting back to playing again after a few years of not playing.

Just like trying to learn a beat on the drum kit, a metronome can really get you in the groove. I work with one set at 55 BPM and make a four count swing. First two counts to set up, third count for the top of the backswing and fourth count hitting the ball. It works!

I comprehend more and learn faster by first reading what happens in the golf swing then seeing it in slow motion. Some of my favorite swings to study are Louis Oosthuizen's, Adam Scott's, Bobby Jones's, Ben Hogan's and of course Peter Finch's.

Hi Pete, love the video. I didn't start playing until i was 18. My swing sort of mimicked my mates for the first few years. I have a few lessons and changed a few things. I got to 4 HCP and pretty much know my swing and roughly where I'm going wrong when I'm struggling. Never going to be a world beater. You tube instruction has giving me help with chipping/putting and understanding my equipment. Have a great time at Augusta

The difference in skill is just on a different level and it's not about just hitting balls all day.

My plan is to go to community college for the next 2 years while grinding my arse off to get into college golf after those 2 years (practicing 5 hours a day) and working on my fitness. I am a pretty longer hitter I have about a 114 club head speed and I’m not in the greatest shape right now. Also what would be a good daily practice routine? I know everybody is different but a good starting point to base it off would be nice.

You’ll find tips and drills to help you develop a good practice routine. Good luck to you in your journey. Right... I‘m 18 I play of +2 and if I can be absolutely honest there is so little chance in me getting anywhere near european tour (I also dont have the time to do so :/ school and stuff) Buuuut if this is really your dream you really need to work hard and you will be able to achieve it. I hope you make it man... shoot me a message if you would like some advice or some inspiration ;) Have a good one

You can practice with whatever but if you're going to compete, you just need 14 clubs - you decide which. Exhaustive list:

both. I like to keep my swing strictly my swing. By that i mean i dont want to exactly copy a players swing but to take little things from many golfers and try to make those changes in my swing. I only do that once a week and ive seen over 15 strokes improvement and my drives went from averaging around 260 to over 300. 110% around 330 carry and i dont want to sound like a douche but a lot of it came from baseball. The rotational power i have is absurd for somebody my size 6' 160. Athleticism helps but determination drives you even further. 18 yo

The best way to learn for me has to be through watching. But not always the players who swing like robots, but RUclipsrs who are more relatable and you can identify more with.
