This is one... it's not enough to say a great or unique song, this is a song that brought together the dreams and hopes of a whole generation of people from Eastern Europe, and not only those whose dreams were broken. No matter how many times I listen to it my eyes water and the dreams come back again....at least for a little while
The Scorpions are one of the greatest Rockbands (not only german). Sold over 110 million records. Have a Star on the Hollywood Rock Walk. Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden and Metallica were opening acts for the Scorpions.
This song is the epitome of the HOPE of peace that we once had in the late 80s, throughout the 90s...after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union Wish we had that feeling and sense of hope again.
Years ago i got my first car, and i went out for my very first drive by myself, and this song came on the radio and i actually had to pull over to listen to it. Blue me away. Still love that song, and always reminds me of that first car. Great song.
We, who were at the fall of the Berlin wall, were so excited. I still have my piece of the wall & still hope the wind of change will happen. We thought the world would abandon war for ever! So sad that dream died & nothing has changed 💔💔💔. We’ve been doing the war thing for centuries, when will we learn it doesn’t work, it just destroys 😢 Anyway wonderful song. The Scorpions were a great band. We hung out with a lot of bands on those days. Including them. Right at that moment we were all one, laughing, crying & hopeful ♥️ xx
Such a huge song with so much meaning behind it. Not long after this the Cold War ended and the Berlin Wall fell. I still remember seeing footage of the civilians and soldiers both taking to that wall with sledge hammers. The footage of people crawling over the rubble to hug their family and freinds that they hadnt seen in decades.
The scorpions rock and this song is fantastic ! I saw the scorpions in concert approx a year ago and they are awesome still to this day !!! You need to take a trip to “The Zoo” for another banger from this incredible group !
Beautiful Scorpions. They have amazing songs, I've always been a fan. This song played so much when it launched back in the day. My dad's band covered it too and people couldn't get enough.
Gets you right in the feels, that one. Shame that such ideal sentiments seem to have have been forgotten and we’re in a worse place than we were when this was written
A tremendous song that still means so much to so many, when eastern Europe finally threw off the yoke of the Soviet Union. The Scorpions were fabulous back in the 70s and into the 80s. They have many great albums and songs, my favorite is Lovedrive, both the album and title song are dope, the album is all killer and no filler, all 8 cuts are excellent. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
There is only one word that does this song justice: GLORIOUS!!! That guitar solo in the middle 8 just sends goosebumps up and down the spine and Klaus Meine's lyrics are timeless and from the heart!
Exactly my reaction too. Thanks guys. Thought maybe I was weird for a second tearing up. Manly man and all. I watched this video then went and fixed some shit lol
My generation live through the time of the Cold War, where nuclear limits were unaccounted and the threat from the Soviet Union was real. When our leaders in finalized the agreement that broke up the Soviet Union, declaring a democracy for Russia and East Germany, independence for the Baltic States and the toppling of the Berlin Wall. This was the moment in time when the world watched that wall come down, the Scorpions, a German band gave a free concert in celebration. As a child, I remember the fear and as a young adult in 1989, I remember the joy and hope of peace. Now it’s all falling apart. Very sad. I have lived too long. 😢
Saw them in 84-85 they were introduced “ all the way from West Germany…..” then this happened……they knew personally and wrote about it from their perspective. Heard this driving to work….teared up a bit, honestly. I will be 60 soon, lived thru all this in real time. Metallica in Moscow 91’ ( and they were not alone- AC/DC was too)happened the next year…..people were prevented from hearing rock music- they showed up that day to finally hear it live. You saw it…… ❤️🎶❤️🇺🇸❤️great reaction.
This song hit us all like a ton of bricks when it came out. Such a terrific message & what a haunting melody...& that whistle just makes it feel that much more.
Es hätte alles so schön werden können. It could all have been so beautiful. However, as long as more can be earned from war than from peace, this will never be the case.
The Scorpions doing this one was huge being from Germany. I was 18-19 and the wall came down during my senior year of high school… it was a time of change and upheaval, clearly the Scorpions felt it too. 30 some years later Wind of Change still sounds relevant and fantastic.
scorpions lived through this dividing of there country by us and the soviet union i dont think no else could of put this momentous time to music.... they did it justice
This song is the sound of the Berlin wall falling. I can't imagine the emotion of the band as this song was being writen and recorded. If you guys like stuff like this, I would highly recommend checking out 'When I'm Gone' by 3 Doors Down. Another powerful yet touching song filled with lots of emotion... just like this one. thx.
This song really hits me, gets me emotional every time. We all had such hope for change in the 80's and when the Wall came down and the Soviet Union became Russia...our spirits soared for the future! Now look at the world...our dreams turned to dust. So this song is bittersweet.
Exactly what I wrote under another reaction video to this song. We had such hope back then that the world would take a turn for the better. It's all turned to ash. Now the song makes me cry. It's still an epic masterpiece, and Klaus Meine's voice hauntingly beautiful.
Like many“heavy metal” bands and other “hard rocking” acts, it is often their “softer” songs that hit the hardest, and this is definitely one of those times🤘
The moskve is a river in Moscow that goes near Gorky park. A balalaika is a type of guitar. ( I googled all of this years ago) " let your balalaika sing"
I grew up in the 70's/80's under the Cold War scare. This song gave so much hope to so many. Now the world is even worse. 😢 Please God send the asteroid, amen. 🙏
I had a friend who was stationed on top of the Berlin Wall. He said that if people tried to escape the East they would be shot. If they got to a certain point , he could help them and they were safe. Very few made it, but the few that did were very grateful to him. This still bothers him to this day.
I was in Germany before the wall came down. When I was in desert shield /desert storm there was so many changes during that time in the late 80s early 90s. If you pay attention you’ll see a few images of the gulf war Being in Germany during the Cold War was definitely different back then
Here i am correct! (*smile, insider) Without any weapons nor any violance usage, this Wall fell. What a great achievement to believe in! Thank You and greetings from germany!
The very first time I heard this was while watching a Filipino cover band in Singapore. They nailed it, (including the whistle) I had been at sea so didn't get to hear it before that. I LOVE the Scorpions. I rock with them, but this my favorite song. 10/03/2017 Grand Sierra Resort Reno 😎😎
Travis you want to hear some great guitar playing by the Scorpions listen to the song Sails of Charon when they were on Musikladen TV. Uli Jon Roth just tears it up in that song.

Decades later, still an awesome, moving song!
😢😢😢😢😢
The Scorpions are one of the greatest Rockbands (not only german). Sold over 110 million records.
Have a Star on the Hollywood Rock Walk.
Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden and Metallica were opening acts for the Scorpions.
One of the most underrated talents out of Germany nowadays.
I mean they were big back in the day, but their music still hits today
This song is the epitome of the HOPE of peace that we once had in the late 80s, throughout the 90s...after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union
Wish we had that feeling and sense of hope again.
Nope, with Putin and Trump, all lost
@@tomvandeguchte911 I think you need to get out of the MSN cesspit of deception,
Khazaria......
even in 2100 yrs this legend german band still in radio and karaoke no matter what this music is undying
What a beautiful and very emotional song. Have a blessed holiday season all. Spread love not hate. ✌️❤️🎶🎵
Years ago i got my first car, and i went out for my very first drive by myself, and this song came on the radio and i actually had to pull over to listen to it. Blue me away. Still love that song, and always reminds me of that first car. Great song.
Yes, this song came out not long after the wall fell. Was a huge time for Eastern Europe, and especially for Germany. I was 20 years old.

That song makes me feel sad now, how far we have moved on from the hope for the future it expressed.
Powerful song and video. This song will forever give me chills and a smile.
Gets you right in the feels, that one. Shame that such ideal sentiments seem to have have been forgotten and we’re in a worse place than we were when this was written

that songs massage is sooo great... especialy after the events of the last year and still...
Travis & Suzi
Members of Scorpions are in their 60s to 70s still rocking today! Klaus Meine, singer still has vocal skills.
The Wind of Change is needed in 2024 in Russia and China as it was in 1989!
Beautiful song and forever shall it be.
Ok now you have to do "still loving you" by the scorpions! It's a must
Hey sweethearts. A little man with a great Voice, Klaus Meine. Its legendary. I have goosebumps. Still awesome! Thanks!
Incredibly moving song
Captures the moment in time, the EPOCH history, PERFECTLY
ALWAYS MOVES ME
I watched scorpions headline Monsters of Rock at Råsunda stadium in Stockholm in 1986...It was magic 🥰🥰
Exactly my reaction too. Thanks guys. Thought maybe I was weird for a second tearing up. Manly man and all. I watched this video then went and fixed some shit lol
I remember hearing 😢this power ballad from the Scorpions. Still a great song
Awesome jam yeah, they're good in concert live 🎸🎸🎸🎤🥁🤘😆🤘

Literature is written intellect and music is written emotion. Both can be very large if they perfectly depict the object of the writing.
Saw them in 84-85 they were introduced “ all the way from West Germany…..” then this happened……they knew personally and wrote about it from their perspective. One of my favorites it's a power ballad
Awesome anthem ! Sally Ride, the first American woman in space talking at the end was cool too !
I love Scorpions, best live band i have seen, love from Sweden
the whistling is haunting a great song that we need today
That's easily one of my top favorites songs ever ❤
I was actually there when the wall came down. It was so emotional. Still have several fragments of the wall.
Love you guys. Was there.
Indisputably one of the great rock-n-roll voices of all time.

Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs were a great guitar duo
Es hätte alles so schön werden können.
It could all have been so beautiful.

Ótima reação, um salve para nois do Brasil que ama essa canção ❤🇧🇷
All these years later still 🔥🔥🔥

Such. High .Hopes back then .
Fantastic tune. You guys should review ‘Still loving you’ by Scorpions. Another great tune.

This is also one of the well known great bands out there 😈😎🇧🇻
Epic song
Actually this song was written becase the end of the Cold War wich took plase right after WW2 and ended in 1989 in Europe. It's just a little History.
Scorpions are amazing 🤩
This song was MAAASIVE when I was a kid. The fall of the Berlin wall was a monumental cultural moment.
Un clásico que da esperanzas
They have changed the lyrics of this song since Russias attack on Ukraine. They said, they can't sing it this way anymore...
This song really hits me, gets me emotional every time. We all had such hope for change in the 80's and when the Wall came down and the Soviet Union became Russia...our spirits soared for the future! Now look at the world...our dreams turned to dust. So this song is bittersweet.

The voice at the end is not Hillary Clinton ( although it sounds like her) it's Sally Ride the first American woman in space.
Lived my teens through this wind of change. I hope we all live through the next one. Peace in Ukraine and Israel
And just for a moment we thought everything was going to be allright...
Seen scorpions live show once. Recommend
we could use a wind of change right now
Like many“heavy metal” bands and other “hard rocking” acts, it is often their “softer” songs that hit the hardest, and this is definitely one of those times🤘
Essa mulher é linda!!
That song came right when they demolish the Berlín Wall...
The moskve is a river in Moscow that goes near Gorky park. A balalaika is a type of guitar. ( I googled all of this years ago) " let your balalaika sing"
Scorpions is one great band from germany
I grew up in the 70's/80's under the Cold War scare.

You have a beautiful ball Suzy...................😁
I think they were the first metal band to play a show in Moscow.
The very first time I heard this was while watching a Filipino cover band in Singapore. They nailed it, (including the whistle) I had been at sea so didn't get to hear it before that.
I LOVE the Scorpions.
I rock with them, but this my favorite song.
