One of the best moments of my gig-going life was with this band. I was at the famous Scorpions gig at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin in 1999, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the fall of Berlin Wall. During this song many many denim and leather clad hairy-arsed heavy rock fans, many of whom were former East Germans, were openly crying and hugging one another "like brothers" - me included. At that moment we felt we could change the world and that we really are all just one people. God, I wish we could all that feel like that again today, the world really needs it.

I was an Air Force kid with an American AF mother and a German AF father. I was born in Hanover, West German, the home town of The Scorpions. This song is originally about the time when the Soviet Union fell and the Berlin Wall came down, uniting the communist held East Germany with their western brothers and sisters. But, this song is TIMELESS and can be applied to modern times.

I just learned this song about 3 weeks ago, (the rhythm guitar part). My fiance lives in Ukraine. I had heard this song a 100 times but never really listened to the words or thought about it. I mostly listen to the sounds. Anyway, so when I was learning the words to sing it, it occurred to me, this HAS to be about the fall of the Berlin Wall. Sure enough, I looked it up and that is what its is about. I thought about that speech that President Reagan made at the Brandenburg gate.. "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall." And I got very emotional. It meant something to me. I didn't even realize how the song had become an anthem throughout Eastern Europe for freedom, especially economic freedom, freedom from the chains of socialism. I guess that is why my fiance Elena likes it so much. I always liked it but now is one of my favorite songs.

This song says it all. the Wind of Change. To me listening to this song for all these years always gets me. Every time. And just think of the countries who are divided instead of United. Here in the states we kind of lucky. We're united, but not quite fully united. And as they say in the song. Brothers. I guess what I'm trying to say is, why can't we continue to live United. That's what America is all about. Many colors and many cultures living united. As this country is called UNITED States of America. We done it before, so lets do it again. living in unity, and help teach the other countries to do the same. Let's rock this world in a good way with alot of positivity.

Good history behind this song. It was written the night the Scorpions played the Moscow Music festival. It was the first western music festival in the former soviet block after the fall of the Berlin wall.
The band had finished the concert and were doing the tourist thing. They got on a boat that sailed the Moskva river through Moscow. Being a band of Germans, the wall was an ever present embodiment of division and distrust, that had been nullified. Klaus Meinethe singer and song writer said, that night, he felt such hope for the future. We had avoided mutually assured annihilation. There was good reason to whistle a tune of hope.
The walls that separate us now are not physical. That makes it harder to get purchase. Tomorrow is counting on us to fix this every bit as much as we needed those that came before to fix their

Late to this party but found you looking for reactions to this specific song. It means so much to a lot of people. I remember the feeling of that moment it came out. like your reaction, so subbed!

guys...i saw this reaction like 1-2 month ago and i had to come back to your channel and leave a comment because you guys react in the perfect way to this song...
-side note since i am from germany and watching you reacting to this song made it even more emotional to me seeing you like feeling the song..not only listening to it but feeling it..
this song cannot simply be put on your ipod and listen to it from time to time..this song is so much more and what i wanted to say to you is :
you really let the music take over yourselves and you sit there..listening, feeling, understanding but not interrupting tough..that is what i hate when i watch other reactions..many people stop the song often..sometimes annoyingly often..talk like half an hour and the whole atmosphere of the song is gone...but not you guys..i really really felt your reaction and just like the song i did not want it to end...because you do it like it is supposed to be done...listening to it..let the musik do with you what the music wants to do and at the end id love to hear your opionion..and not in short sentences inbetween...stopping the song..that sucks
keep it up guys i really really wanted to let you know how i feel abpout your reaction to my alltime favoritew song

This is a classic old song and must be about 30 years old surely!!! 👍
It was an important moment in time when change for the better was happening e.g the Berlin Wall came down 👏
