I think my brain shut down around "Pancakes."
Time to fatten you up... (proceeds to fatten my magic pets...)
Summoner is meant to be the "Get your girlfriend into the game" class. So the affixing system is formatted to resemble candy crush for better cognitive understanding. It can have the opposite effect on experienced gamers since we're not used to processing information in that way.
I spent a week asking people for information on Summoner and just getting a lot of shrugs and references to JP guides with best in slot items that don't exist on NA server. This answered a lot of my questions, thanks!
I am in love with summoner and hopefully this guide can make you fall in love with it too :)
Check the description for some complimentary guides, like mag raising and advanced quests!
Anamana was a great start for me learning pso2, but thank you for the summoner guide! I'm loving this community so much. Also will there be a way to change our pet's element or do we have to consume an egg that has it?
@@captngr1971 there's already a way, there's a candy you can get from the pet assistant shop for each element. Add it to your sweets box and it's done!
Good video duder, definitely appreciative to let people know what they can do even if they start Summoner outright. Some things I do wanna say as additions too
The basic Harmonizer in NA actually has a potential of boosting Resta's power by 26% at +30, and it being only a 1* weapon it's very easy to grind it up to that level. Obviously no benefit to getting at the highest cap, but definitely something I'd tell newer summoners to do and it's a good supportive Harmonizer either way. (In case anyone was curious about a little trivia, in the JP version there was a basic Takt NT that is the same as how NA's Takt is, but was only a promotional item for the release of EP4 so it's not as easily obtained there.)
Pietro's Client Order which asks you to kill 60 enemies at SH is actually repeatable, with a weekly cooldown. This is also currently the only way to get stuff like Critical Sticks or Vin-Spi Sticks, some very powerful candy options you should always have. I'd say the most important ones to do as soon as it's off cooldown is Wanda (Two-Layer Pancake) / Torim (Stamnia-Spirita Cookie) / Synchro (Perfect Parfait) / Jinga (Vinculum-Spirita Stick) / Popple (Critical Stick)
Just as a small note you can still compress candies inside your Pet's Candy Box and the game lets you freely temporarily remove your candies from the box to fully organized later, so there's really no big deal to putting candies early so long you remember to compress it later! (I started Summoner on Closed beta, so what I did was essentially placed an incomplete Perfect Parfait on my Wanda just for the damage until I got the lambda grinders later to compress it to max.)
Technically, Candy Erasers are also an option which are buyable at the Pet Counter for 10 grinders each. Of course, as it implies it will delete the candy outright but especially for people who want to start fresh Summoners it's always a good idea to fill out your candy box with anything asap (Usually just stack Stat Cookies if anything else), then either use the tongs from the SG shop or these Erasers for candy you don't plan to use anymore.
Although yes not every pet is created and balanced equal, I'd still say it's good to get every pet type regardless and level all of them as you can - free Titles after all if nothing else! Also if you ask me, I think Redran is more niche than common - still a very strong pet with the right content, and Popple + Maron/Melon are very strong pets to use (But do both require a bit more handiwork than say, Wanda/Jinga or Synchro.)
Also just as a precise number in case anyone might wonder, You need 8 Caramel Crushers (64 Excubes total) for each pet to fully open their Candy Box. Also there will be blue blocks in your candy box as well as your pet doesn't actually start with all it's PAs from level 1 - you'll just have to level it to get everything. By 60 it should have all it's blue blocks removed with all the pet's PA's unlocked - note that when 14* pets gets released they will always drop at Lv.100.
But yeah, all in all nice video. Hope you'll continue to create good content.
Okay, now this is actually helpful. I've been playing a summoner since the NA launch and been kind of stumbling through the dark and learning as I went. While I had the foresight to look up guides on how to build my character and mag, I hadn't found anything on how to deal with the sweets and building your pets; also somehow I never realized the summoners had an NPC that gives quests. Thank you greatly for the guide.
I love Summoner / Necromancer classes so... if this is what it takes, I'm ready.
Hell yeah, dude. Definitely need to see more summoner love.
I remember they were everywhere when the game first entered open beta, but recently, I rarely see summoners?
@honorbound12 I don't really see them too often
I always play the braver type, love shooting arrows. Started playing PSO2, meh let's do something different and counter intuitive...omg ! so much set up to do but ô so fun to play :)
Best guide i've seen so far, just for being concise.
Don't forget your 3 FREE caramel crusher from the casino guy through shooter game..
That's 3 free caramel crushers a week using your 3 characters and it's easy.
I haven't even touched this class yet, thanks for leaving this comment!
yooo im going to start doing this even though im not a summoner yet
I always wished they made a Pokemon game that played like this class.
New to the game so this was sooo essential! Thanks!
"It's like affixing your weapon, except, it's pancakes." Yes everything is starting to make sense now.
Wow i really screwed myself with picking this class as my for my first and main 😅 it looks so cool and is really fun to play so it’s worth the effort of learning this character thank you for this awesome guide
Great video! Only gripe I have is that Popple (which you say is useless) is used as a PP battery. When you run out of PP, you can switch to it because its normal attacks generate PP very quickly (much quicker than other pets). Once your PP is full, you switch back to whatever pet you were using before.
This is the only time I can admit I watched an 8 minute video about making double stack pancakes.
Did you enjoy it at least?
@@N0sSyndrome sure did, thanks bud. Still a little confused but gave me enough info to jump into it. This is my next class to level
You are goated this video broke it down broke it down! TY so much I'm running summoner
Summoner be like LET'S SAVE THE GALAXY WITH MY NEOPETS
I think I've just been sufficiently convinced too never try this class.
🌭
Same here. I rather put on a gun and shoot the enemies.
@@iMarcism
Other classes before this video: *"Summoner takes no effort".*
Laughs in Synchro.
If you've not yet experienced a Synchro combo finisher crit on a tanky boss, you've not properly experienced PSO2.
its actually not that bad, it looks like a lot but I thoroughly enjoyed it and was able to get the hang of it.
Me *gets a rappy while maxing my summoner this morning*
Me *falls in love with rappy and is actually interested in.raising it right*
You *uploads this within the hour* pls stop reading my mind sir
Summoner is pretty lit 👌
Watching your video and reading the comments I'm completely scared to play summoner lol. I love summoner classes and would love to start out playing summoner, but seems very complicated. I think I need to find a step by step guide from the very beginning. Your video is great info but I still feel lost.
The thing is can u keep feeding values at will? I mean, imagine this like mag if u feed everything u will never be able to reach the max lvl in the stat u want but on pets it works like dat?? Or u can just feed at will and there wont be early limit for example for HP because u feed a lot on T-Defense.
Just started my own summoner character, and despite knowing his stuff intimately about PSO2, my buddy was overwhelmed by my questions and confusion as to how the class works... so he sent me here. Even on JP, I never bothered with Summoner. I had 3 slots, AC was an anathema to me, and I just didn't feel like trying it out. But now here we are in NA, and I can spare $10 for a couple extra characters, so why not. Boy it is expensive to run for sure.
Question... Does summoners mark debuff work for party members or just me and my pet? I know the translation can be off sometimes and I wanted to be sure. Couldn't find a simple answer in a guide.
The mark only boosts you and your pet, not your party :)
thanks :D
When first watching this video my 2GB brain couldn't handle this, then I just decided to go in blind playing summoner and just do what I think I'm suppose to, came back to see what I did correct, wrong and shall do next, it's easier to understand the video now after playing a little bit first. 😃👍🏻
Consider using Techter as a subclass while leveling your Summoner. Invest 10 points into PP restorate to solve PP issues. When moving the rate is 140%. When standing still the rate is 350%. Add 5 points each to Advanced Shifta and Advanced Resta. It may help to add 5 points into Critical Shifta. Also add one point each into Territory Burst and Territory PP Save. This information is based on my Fo/Te character with a level 200 Tech Mag. I leveled Su/Fi first and then switched to Su/Te to continue leveling my Te subclass to 55. I quickly noticed the quick PP recovery. Su/Te burst damage is lower than Su/Fi, but you can maintain PAs longer with Te subclass.
Constructive feedback from the Summoner Discord: 1. The utility you gain from subbing TE doesn't really justify losing your FI sub multipliers. You can't regen PP while attacking so you'll wind up just sitting there when you run out. 2. Weak hit pp gain ring would help or w/e. 3. PP Conversion (R) allows you to access one of Te's PP skills while on Su/Fi. 4. And in like, mobbing situations you can have more effective pp recovery by zondeeling crowds together. So you're normaling multiple things at once. 5. Techer sub sucks ***. Your only real option is su/fi and you just have to practice.
Wow, had no idea all this was involved.
I started a summoner yesterday and leveled up my pets a lot, but none of them are the light element. What do I do now?
Maybe a ramune will help? You can get one from the Pet Lab.
I always play pet classes in MMORPGs. Bring it on.
I kind of got the kind got it... is there anyway to just buy a pet thats already leveled up and awesome and ready to use from the personal shop? and which pet should i buy for max single and group of enemy dps?
You cannot buy leveled pets on Player shops.
On top of it, only pets up to 9* rarity can be sold
how do you have your mag and pet both out? my mag is usually invisible.
You can't have both out when you're summoner, your pet will always replace your mag. But you'll still get your mag's stats boosts
A question from a JP player, if i find a shiny version of the summon can i use it to evolve the rarity of my current one while also changing its color to the shiny one?
If it's higher rarity, yes you should be
@@N0sSyndrome Also i forgot to ask, how to raise the level of their personalities? Or is it fixed? Like the Trim with Industrious lv2, how to improve that?
I am pretty sure it levels up automatically as you feed your pet to level it up
Rappy is not the only 13☆ in NA lol. You can also get 13☆ viola from luther pre-fight the chicken thing.
Melon and marron are both dope in current game! 1mill+damage with Marron on certain bosses. Throw in synchro right after marron or melon explodes for massive dps!
Still waiting to see if any 13☆ drop from the new UQ
Other than that, great video!
Of course a 13* would drop at the ONE place I can't reliably double check, uh
Dam, now I’m hangry...
Did you want a egg in this hard time? Ha
Just to let you know when Phantom comes out you use a dex mag not a tech
Oh dang, you're right... I somehow confused the "when in doubt go T-Atk" with Phantom literally always going Dex, I guess :/
I dont like that theres a visible line that connects you to the pet. Makes you look like you're fighting with a fishing rod. Hope they remove that in ngs
marron throw into synchro swap for amazing dps
So can you use pets on different classes?
Only Summoner can use pets
@@N0sSyndrome ok thx so much
It was just sad that they don't have a robot pet to match with the CAST character summoner.
can i lose my sweets if i evolved it to the next rank?
Nope! Your sweets will stay right there, just dont return your pet to its egg
"cries because my highest rarity pet is a 12-star viola"
Me: oh I wanna play summoner! I have maxed out Hero, fighter, and a bunch of other classes!
This:
Me: fuck.
Would you say Summoner is an Easy to play class? Or does it have some skill ceiling?
It's very easy mode, imo
@@N0sSyndromeAh, then its probably not a class i'm gonna play, I usually like classes that are a bit more complex ^^. Thanks for the quick answer tho!
That's completely fair, enjoy PSO2 :)
Are you sure about that melee mag? Everyone I ask said tec
Tech is a safer choice since it will work for summoner, no matter what. The melee mag only applies to SuFi
me who just startet the game 1 day ago and hears all these words and items my brain shut down xD but Ill get it a bit nice vid
What's the point of leveling up your pet once its stats are maxed?
I am not sure I understand the question. You should be feeding eggs to your pet until it is max level and it's stats are maxed.
Their stats will still increase with levels
@@N0sSyndrome I was under the impression you can max your stats before reaching max level by feeding foddered pet eggs. Is that not the case? Stats & level go hand in hand?
Your pet stats will increase naturally through leveling. Your pet plus values are extra stats, and they will eventually cap :)
@@N0sSyndrome Ooooh. Gotcha. Thanks!
Why not go for the triple stack pancakes?
You need one of each anyway, one double stack and one triple stack for a 60 elemental cap.
But since all pets, except Rappy, currently do not have a 13* option, it's better to not waste resources and just put 2 double stack pancakes until 13* show up (Since the cap below 13* is 50 elemental)
N0sSyndrome that makes sense. Thanks for the info.
Id just go for a triple and a double as u will be rarity enhancing your pet when u get a higher star pet anways and u would only be wasting resources by having to remove a second double stack once ur pet is 13 stars
Currently rappy and viola are only 13 star pets i have seen
i bought a pair of tongs and it said i didnt even have one
You probably selected "purchase to storage" when you did. Check your storage, should be there
Me: reads a guide saying to build a tec mag with Fi sub
This video: make a melee mag with Fi sub
Me: 😔
Oh well. Can't hurt to have a tec mag anyways. Thanks for posting this lol
Go Tec, honestly, it's safer and can work with more builds
@@N0sSyndrome noted. Keep up the good work. Got yourself a sub.
Dude what Ship are you on? And are you in an alliance?
Heyah, I am on ship 2, currently running my own alliance
@@N0sSyndrome Cool still waiting on the PC version of the game to drop. Also have you been using the summoner's main skill subclass EXP boost to level up your subclasses?
@@udohdanny2944 the exp boost thing is a free skill in your summoner tree, no skill points required for it, so yes, I have been using it :p
Hey umm it's pso2 day an I'm having trouble getting a rappy egg help me please
Have you ever wanted to rely on gunblade because your only source of damage dies in two hits? This is the class for you!
Oraynge?
Yeah, not sure what happened there
Eng my second language you talk to fast I have to start again & again lol no sub even not easy ,video doing good job and thank you 🤗🌸🇬🇧
Just about every "guide" says to avoid those skills that give flat stats. They are "dump skills" at best.
Then the SUs are going about using a MEL mag with Fi sub and the only reason seems to be getting a little MEL from the... flat...
... I think I'll just keep rolling with my TEC Mag for now, man.
There's a sum skill that makes tech damage into melee and the melee mag just helps boost that
@@alejandrosantillana5581 Yes, yet my understanding is that the absolute only source of MEL you'll have using this sub, as opposed to being TEC, is... the flat stat skills in Fighter's tree.
So either these "dump skills" ARE as garbage as we're often told, or they're really good enough to tell everyone "yo this is THE way to raise Su right now".
usually summoner in mmorpg are for beginner....guess not in PSO2..
tl;dw pancakes
omg this game is so fucking frustrating to new players. The mechanics of summoner are so fun, but there's so much shit I need to do only to make it work, besides this clunky and confusing UI that I don't even want to play this game anymore.
Ughh pets with HP kills me lol. This is something I hate in MMOs and was a nuisance in FFXIV. Already made me not interested in using the class. Hopefully, it's different in NGS
"beginners"
Games ui is so old and silly that wierd japan traidition of change nothing it was perfect 20 years ago! putting items into storage is just pain
Tip to make inventory management better: select multiple items by holding shift. Then you can send everything to storage instantly
i have no clue wtf i just watched
Holy fuck this is complicated .............
о4ередное видосик с поносом слов который и так тебе нпц пишет по мере прока4ки.
what a unnecessary convoluted system
This was a terrible guide. You assume that people know terms with you explaining them. And this video only told me what I already knew there are many questions I have that weren't even mentioned. I watched this whole thing and learned nothing about evolution or how to get higher stars for your summons.
Jaxson Turner I am sorry you feel that way.
Let me give you the information you were looking for then.
To evolve a pet, all you need to do is drop an egg of it’s evolved form with a higher rarity than your current pet
For example, I would need to find a 10* Jinga to evolve a 9* Wanda. Then I would use the rarity increase menu at the pet lab to increase Wanda’s rarity with my Jinga egg, evolving Wanda.
The drop higher rarity eggs.... do like any other class and play higher difficulty maps and you may drop better eggs. The drop rates are super low.
Most Evolved form 13* eggs can only drop in ultimate quests right now. (And were not available when I made this video)
summoner was a lame afterthought. It's boring and it's too safe. It's basically playing the game on easy mode. Pretty sure sega realized it too, because immediately after su was introduced, they decided to do a 180° and create the kickass hybrid successor classes. You'd really be doing yourself a disservice by starting out playing su. It's not the intended beginner experience. It was made with playing catch-up in mind, since it came out during ep4. And you will SUCK at the game when you eventually switch to a real class. You will develop bad habits playing it if you are a beginner.
oh i found pso2 elitist who think player who playin summoner are suck lmao
@xbloodblade guess what ? nobody care with ur opinion lol . ppl have different play style and this not even pvp game why the f u do care about them ? because they have better dps than u ? lmao these kid
bruh, everybody have their own playstyle. Chill down a bit, you making pso2 community looks toxic.
