Seriously, they look amazing. I’ve only played NGS and I’m wondering if NGS classes will ever reach this level of depth. Would love to experience this in NGS.
Love the guide, I learned a few new things ^^ You missed two things though for Wand and Soaring Blades. When using Free Camera/TPS view you can fly around freely when using Prism Circular. Great way to get past obsticles. Though for lazy meme dps, it is better to lock on rather then free camera it. Soaring Blade full connect can be better aimed if you keep holding down the weapon action, since it only does it once you release the button.
An absolutely lovely guide for Etoile. I'll be sure to review this if I need any refreshers on some of the class' more advanced mechanics (I'm still wrapping my head around everything Double Saber can do)
Yeah I was gonna go with Hero but after he fully explained all this, it's clear this is more of a Scion tank than Hunter was. So I'll use this as a sub then switch it to main once it catches up with my 65 Hunter. Better to use a tanky/DPs Scion as a sub than not use a Scion at all. I just wish I knew is any tech or PA carry over. It's a shame to lose all my atks and sword and spear skills. The only weapon you can always use is gunblade. So Scion class give u a lot to think about. Guides like this make it easier to see all the pros to starting over and training that class.
I've been maining Et alongside Te/Ph since it came out on Global and just wanted to say that this guide is near-perfect! It covers just about everything a new player would want to know about the class, and even has really helpful visuals for intermediate players as well. Thank you for making such a great guide!
Something I only discovered recently on the double saber (even though I've been maining etoile since it came out...): It's actually possible to stack multiple parries. What I mean by that is if the enemy does for instance an attack that has two distinct hits in rapid succession you can parry the first hit and then if you time it right you can *also* parry the second hit instead of unleashing your counter when you press the weapon action again. And if you do that then you can quickly press the weapon action *twice* more to get two counter hits in back-to-back. I've been doing this a bunch in the second phase of the TPD fight because a lot of the big arm swings he does are two hits. I can pull it off pretty reliably now. It's not only great damage (double saber counters hit pretty hard) but it's also safer since if you were to instead immediately counter the first hit you wouldn't be able to recover in time to avoid taking damage from the second hit. It's super neat, give it a try!
This is really well made. 🧡 I much prefer a narrated guide over one that's purely visual. One small note, though; you mixed up the description of the Crit ring. You wrote "20% crit damage, 3% crit rate".
Oh jeez, i remember making that mistake and remaking that slide....I guess I forgot to swap it out in the end lol. Hopefully everyone will figure it out in context 😑
Great guide Blac. Easy to follow and informative. The only thing I wished you had gone over were some bossing rotations / strengths. You mentioned a few skills that were good for mobbing but didn't really touch on the bossing side of things.
Hmm that's because just about every Etoile PA can be used effectively against single targets, and due to it's spammy nature, you can just make up the best combo for the situation. If I get time I'd like to make more videos on rotations though.
Didn't think you were going to. Decided to give Etoile a try after getting my hands on a 15* and a couple 14* Double Sabers and a 15* and one or two 14* Soaring Blades. All with a good number of Augment slots.
One small thing about prism circular. You can also move vertically with OTS view (z key by default) you dont need to be locked on or have a target this way.
New player here, as a Tech/Hunt I was planniing to switch to Tech/Etoile. For L rings, do I still need the SureFire connect ring if I'm using wands? I do not use soaring blades.
It only affects Soaring Blades, so you will NOT need it if you don't use Blades. And even if you do end up using soaring blades, it's more of a preference thing and not mandatory whatsoever.

Only thing i would say is because we don't have the pp siphoning effect from around mate up (instead of just gaining pp from using items you also get pp from other ppl in a medium range using items) because SEGA is a dudubrain and only gave it for JP as well as same arts pp you can leave at 2 or 3 depending on your ability to count (has a niche use for a final burst of dmg with wand for kill shots but its rare). And only issue with the dodge stepping on glitter stripe to drop altitude is it will drop any wand buffs (wand dash + Tech arts + same arts)
I originally wanted to talk about the siphoning, but ended up cutting it out as I assume it might change on global eventually. When they do I'm going to make a short video showing how it works and slap a card on this video showing it in action. Though I now regret not saying anything about it. As for the sidestep part, I completely forgot about it dropping the buff, thanks for pointing that out. I just wanted to show how that could lower you from any Etoile action and maybe should have worded it better. 3:55 People are so afraid of this skill, I've seen people say they won't use Etoile because you won't get heals from people anymore. I was one of them as well before trying Etoile and getting spoiled by Damage Balancer. That skill is so broken. I could do pretty much do any run with 0 mate usage, because I can just eat damage whenever and shrug it off. The most healing I get is from Overdrive and that's about it. Etoile is so stupidly tanky. There's just that incident where I ran UH Luther drunk that I died 4 times lmao.
cause UH was balanced around that skill, hunter's 50% dmg reduction through hunter physique + flash guard + fast status recovery + high base def + automate + iron will is just as "balanced" despite being able to survive more enemies than 999 masq in late episode 6 than etoile

The PP cost reduction is notorius, and man, the tankiness is sweet! as a main Fighter this really encourages to use Limit Break/Overload in almost every moment and keep the survivability. Now I know why a lot of people were looking for these classes. Meanwhile I'm still keep waiting for Luster
one point is missing on wand u can just use your pa at the right time and u dont get hit and use your pa as normal (but you need to get used to it) pa start and when u make the focus version of a pa at the time when u use weapon action you dont get hit either
Idk if you mentioned it or not, but from my experience, a kind of guard occurs from the moment I input a focused wand PA (such as the focused beam attack)
that saber destruction.... it reminds me of an pa from phantasy star portable 2... yep, its blade destruction pa for twin saber back in phantasy star portable 2 tho the final part differs

just a heads up, step can cancel your tech arts / same arts pp save bonus, so be wary when using it in the middle of combo, use WA instead of step to lower altitude when using Glitter Stripe
Yeah, it was mostly just to show you can cancel out of any PA to lower yourself. I didn't mean for it to come off like that's a sort of combo you would use, but I can see that's what it looks like. I should have done that part a bit differently.

Thanks for the video! I wonder if you have any thoughts on a challenge I'm having. I mainly play dual saber and I'm okay at using the weapon action, but many times when I use the counter I end up getting slapped around by follow up attacks. Any ideas what to do differently to continue being defensive past the first deflect?
You can block again without cool down if you successfully guard against the attack. But if you weapon action and you dont actually block anything you will get that cooldown.

After coming back to the game - left around the time ep 4 came out - Etoile is star of my show (damn that was forced, star puns are hard) and now, after 85 levels I know how to use it (~90% of it I did already but didn't know how the chaining works and me being me I 10/10'd the same PA skill). Time to make some rings! (I still have my gunner rings on for some reason...)
I've done crafting with a lot of PAs. I really like a lot of PA for Hunter. Does anything carry over to Scion classes? It feels like if I switch to Etoile as a main I gain a lot but lose a lot of customization options too. Only way I can make a Scion my own way is in the skill tree, huh?
Nothing really carries over, all the scion classes have their own unique PAs that are auto learned and cannot be crafted/customized. There are a few ways to slightly change your playstyle within the skill tree, which weapons, units and potentials you use.

@@kokayinewsome9308on global, there’s a 14* weapon series called Blood that can be equipped by any class. You could get a Blood Double saber and use it on Hunter main to still use the 3 weapons you listed, with any choice of sub. It would not be a meta setup by any means, but would still allow you play however you want in a fun way.
what's the ideal weapon for Etoile including the P.A's cos in the middle of the long process to get a Rivilate weapon, but not sure which of the 3 weapon types would be better.
@@JackSplains have tried the other 2 weapon types but found myself quickly getting used to wand. I do know if I wanna purely go wand that I'll have to get a mag and feed it nothing but TEQ items, cos don't you unlock a special SP auto action.
For a sub would I be better off useing hunter( for pass buffs, iron will, n ato mate) or summoner ( for pass hp gain, marks (for damg), and ability's to heal)?
Not Blac but Etoile is great for fighter. Gives you durability which is amazing given the low hp values you're working with and you're already swapping pa usage because of fighter so there's no real adjustment to your gameplan you need to make. They have very good synergy and work really well together.

Do you mean when I'm hovering? If so it's a movement type option at the salon that casts can use when using cast parts. It's free to change whenever you want too.
Would recommend to skip hp restorate entirely other than what's required...never have needed it on jp and it's an all-or-nothing skill. Et DR is enough already and generally you should not even be getting to that point very often (as well as overdrive largely solving any problems with this). Would recommend those points go in PP Up instead, and skip leveling DS step slide; it looks cool but really it's pretty useless IMO. Quasar pt1 evade cancel does most of what you'd want with it better (or switch to helen bathina if you are using wand). Step guard can also work as an approach tool that gives you half gear if the situation calls for it. If NA gets 100 level cap you will have some points then for some more attack as well. ESPECIALLY if you play wand a lot you will want every point of PP you can get with it. Thing chews through it like no tomorrow.
if you're just burning overdrive for safety instead of dpsing then you're the one missing out for a paltry 10pp where it means nothing for wand when it can just chew through it with ease meanwhile sabers and blades don't even care cause of how strong their pp econ is. Just cause you have high pp it just means you'll extend its performance for less than a second even something ppl keep hyping over (lightstream) it only extends the ability to use PAs from 5 to 10s. If you wanted to suggest a better wand for the 2 min cd I'm not even sure how you can ignore chaval when its a much better than a pp refill or more max pp. Don't even bother spec specifically for pure pp once you're over 200 when you keep ignoring pp economy in the process Just because you don't know how to use step glide doesn't label as useless. Collide, shooting star, glide is one of the core kiting rotations just for double step attack dmg and increased speed with hard lock on because even QT takes time to trigger and quasar part 1 does shit for dmg vs double dmg step attack. This isn't the place for opinions where the topic of concern involves research and factual information than what you or I feel like
Ok, you got Universal Mate Up completely wrong Monomate = 5PP Dimate = 10PP Trimate = 15 PP Sol Atomizer = 30PP Star Atomizer = 30PP Moon Atomizer = 30PP Cosmos Atomizer = 30PP In tough Urgents, people will be throwing these around like candies and everyone in the raid get free PP regen. Increasing the whole raid's DPS output, which is more useful than DSaber Side Step Slide lol Other than that, you need to do a follow up video when Fimbul weapons become available in Global. That weapon series change the skill tree by abit
To be fair, I didn't get it wrong. I didn't mention the pp on use on purpose because on global we do not have the version which restores pp to us when others use mates, and it could be this way for a week to months. I do plan to do a follow up video when that happens though. And I also want to cover weapons separately too.
Etoile is such an elegant class. Both aesthetically and in gameplay. Also you can BM every boss so hard. Every time i mess up and have to pop a trimate(I don't have Mate Maniac yet) i just switch to SB's, take my drink, and if anyone dares to touch me i just block because i can... It looks so dumb. Also being able to block Masquerader's time-stop so easily is great. My only issue is being forced to use an Atomizer to get rid of status effects since you can't use Anti but oh well. Also i find it quite funny how Vampiric Strike is still somewhat useful even if it heals 1 HP per hit. I use it on my SB's because that's the weapon i use the most, and you get healed 1 HP per hit, including your summoned swords so you heal a lot. I assume it would be infinetly better if i used it in Double Saber but oh well, i can switch it later. Also dropping 1mill damage nukes every now and then is fun too, kinda sad you can't cancel the recovery.
@@TheTroubleshooter grabs, are definitely blockable, otherwise it makes no sense that I was able to block all of PD claw grabs yesterday when I ran UH solo.
I seriously hate whomever did the English translation in this god damn game, and they should be Fired. I've avoided all skills like Overdrive, Perfect Guard PP and such, because it says "For all nearby ALLIANCE MEMBERS" as in, it only effects people you group up with whos Alliance you are part of, not Group. But here it now says Group Members rather than Alliance as it does for me, so i've completely ignored those skills because of that. It's been several times where i try to look up an enemies name to know which expi to pick so i can kill them for my quest, only to find out that the name it says, is the WRONG name, and i need to spend the next 20 mins or so trying to figure out it's Actual god damn name...

nice thing with soaring blades is when you focus on an enemy, your Et will rush toward it and attack it

Yes some PAs have I-frames and Guard Frames/Blocks on startup and when Focusing/Weapon Actioning them.

After coming back to the game - left around the time ep 4 came out - Etoile is star of my show (damn that was forced, star puns are hard) and now, after 85 levels I know how to use it (~90% of it I did already but didn't know how the chaining works and me being me I 10/10'd the same PA skill). Time to make some rings! (I still have my gunner rings on for some reason...)
I've done crafting with a lot of PAs. I really like a lot of PA for Hunter. Does anything carry over to Scion classes? It feels like if I switch to Etoile as a main I gain a lot but lose a lot of customization options too. Only way I can make a Scion my own way is in the skill tree, huh?
Nothing really carries over, all the scion classes have their own unique PAs that are auto learned and cannot be crafted/customized. There are a few ways to slightly change your playstyle within the skill tree, which weapons, units and potentials you use.
@@JackSplains yeah that's what scares me. I wanna play a Scion class but I still love spears and swords. There seems to be no class that gives me everything I want. Block, dodging, spears, swords, and double saber, and high HP.
@@kokayinewsome9308on global, there’s a 14* weapon series called Blood that can be equipped by any class.
You could get a Blood Double saber and use it on Hunter main to still use the 3 weapons you listed, with any choice of sub. It would not be a meta setup by any means, but would still allow you play however you want in a fun way.

what's the ideal weapon for Etoile including the P.A's cos in the middle of the long process to get a Rivilate weapon, but not sure which of the 3 weapon types would be better.
Wand kinda covers everything but imo you should be using 2-3 of the Etoiles weps as they cover for each other's shortcomings.
@@JackSplains have tried the other 2 weapon types but found myself quickly getting used to wand.
I do know if I wanna purely go wand that I'll have to get a mag and feed it nothing but TEQ items, cos don't you unlock a special SP auto action.

There's not much preference for unit sets in pso2 anymore. Just work for trailblazer then klaus if you want.

It's much easier than it seems. Just start with one weapon at a time.

For a sub would I be better off useing hunter( for pass buffs, iron will, n ato mate) or summoner ( for pass hp gain, marks (for damg), and ability's to heal)?

The difference in stats from each race is almost non existent at endgame. Cast Males have like 100 extra hp though.
How good of a subclass do you think etoile would be for something like fighter?
Not Blac but Etoile is great for fighter. Gives you durability which is amazing given the low hp values you're working with and you're already swapping pa usage because of fighter so there's no real adjustment to your gameplan you need to make. They have very good synergy and work really well together.
NGS feels so bland compared to this
One more question: does Lightning Pursuit (S5 for soaring blades) works on Etóile? Or is it better to get Skill Adept Will (gunblade S5)?

Etoile = Soras final form, change my mind... even the stats behave similarly

Do you mean when I'm hovering? If so it's a movement type option at the salon that casts can use when using cast parts. It's free to change whenever you want too.

No. Technically it does, but only for 1 HP at a time.

What is a step attack
Normal attack while dodging/dashing/stepping.
Would recommend to skip hp restorate entirely other than what's required...never have needed it on jp and it's an all-or-nothing skill. Et DR is enough already and generally you should not even be getting to that point very often (as well as overdrive largely solving any problems with this). Would recommend those points go in PP Up instead, and skip leveling DS step slide; it looks cool but really it's pretty useless IMO. Quasar pt1 evade cancel does most of what you'd want with it better (or switch to helen bathina if you are using wand). Step guard can also work as an approach tool that gives you half gear if the situation calls for it. If NA gets 100 level cap you will have some points then for some more attack as well. ESPECIALLY if you play wand a lot you will want every point of PP you can get with it. Thing chews through it like no tomorrow.
if you're just burning overdrive for safety instead of dpsing then you're the one missing out for a paltry 10pp where it means nothing for wand when it can just chew through it with ease meanwhile sabers and blades don't even care cause of how strong their pp econ is. Just cause you have high pp it just means you'll extend its performance for less than a second even something ppl keep hyping over (lightstream) it only extends the ability to use PAs from 5 to 10s. If you wanted to suggest a better wand for the 2 min cd I'm not even sure how you can ignore chaval when its a much better than a pp refill or more max pp.
Don't even bother spec specifically for pure pp once you're over 200 when you keep ignoring pp economy in the process
Just because you don't know how to use step glide doesn't label as useless. Collide, shooting star, glide is one of the core kiting rotations just for double step attack dmg and increased speed with hard lock on because even QT takes time to trigger and quasar part 1 does shit for dmg vs double dmg step attack. This isn't the place for opinions where the topic of concern involves research and factual information than what you or I feel like
Ok, you got Universal Mate Up completely wrong
Monomate = 5PP
Dimate = 10PP
Trimate = 15 PP
Sol Atomizer = 30PP
Star Atomizer = 30PP
Moon Atomizer = 30PP
Cosmos Atomizer = 30PP
In tough Urgents, people will be throwing these around like candies and everyone in the raid get free PP regen. Increasing the whole raid's DPS output, which is more useful than DSaber Side Step Slide lol
Other than that, you need to do a follow up video when Fimbul weapons become available in Global. That weapon series change the skill tree by abit
To be fair, I didn't get it wrong. I didn't mention the pp on use on purpose because on global we do not have the version which restores pp to us when others use mates, and it could be this way for a week to months. I do plan to do a follow up video when that happens though. And I also want to cover weapons separately too.
Etoile is such an elegant class. Both aesthetically and in gameplay.
Also you can BM every boss so hard.
Every time i mess up and have to pop a trimate(I don't have Mate Maniac yet) i just switch to SB's, take my drink, and if anyone dares to touch me i just block because i can...
It looks so dumb.
Also being able to block Masquerader's time-stop so easily is great.
My only issue is being forced to use an Atomizer to get rid of status effects since you can't use Anti but oh well.
Also i find it quite funny how Vampiric Strike is still somewhat useful even if it heals 1 HP per hit.
I use it on my SB's because that's the weapon i use the most, and you get healed 1 HP per hit, including your summoned swords so you heal a lot.
I assume it would be infinetly better if i used it in Double Saber but oh well, i can switch it later.
Also dropping 1mill damage nukes every now and then is fun too, kinda sad you can't cancel the recovery.
time stop is unblockable same with grabs, persona time freeze, luther time freeze, elder stomp, dekoy maryuda grabs, gemini wall, PD claw grab

So either my game is bugged or this is not common knowledge
@@TheTroubleshooter grabs, are definitely blockable, otherwise it makes no sense that I was able to block all of PD claw grabs yesterday when I ran UH solo.

I seriously hate whomever did the English translation in this god damn game, and they should be Fired.
I've avoided all skills like Overdrive, Perfect Guard PP and such, because it says "For all nearby ALLIANCE MEMBERS" as in, it only effects people you group up with whos Alliance you are part of, not Group.
But here it now says Group Members rather than Alliance as it does for me, so i've completely ignored those skills because of that. It's been several times where i try to look up an enemies name to know which expi to pick so i can kill them for my quest, only to find out that the name it says, is the WRONG name, and i need to spend the next 20 mins or so trying to figure out it's Actual god damn name...
