Playing through base PSO2 has been a blast and I'd highly recommend any new players that have hit a wall with NGS to give it a shot, I started about a month ago and have managed to clear up to EP3 thus far while the quest clear campaign has been active, at the moment for me it definetly feels like NGS is the sub attraction to base PSO2 and I think that says a lot about how well PSO2 has aged over the years.
100% agree. I've already played pretty much everything there is in base PSO2 and wish I could reset my memory and go again, so anyone who came for NGS and haven't touched Base PSO2, I'd recommend it highly, not just to rush through things for whatever NGS goodies and events like the story stuff a short while ago, just play it at your own pace. If the story (ep 1 especially) drags on a lot, I recommend either powering through it anyway because it DOES get better, OR watch the anime PSO2 Episode Oracle because it makes Ep1 a lot easier to digest with more involvement with Afin and Matoi, cuts out the really boring bits (Lilipa and Amduskia) for the most part, and paces the story like an actual story. Giving the MC a voiced character is also a lot more engaging than a silent OC to me as well.
Base pso2 has been tiding me over so far, so much to do and so much sg rewards :D i also feel like ngs is more an expansion than a fully new game so far
I believe it was meant to be this way, at least for the first year or two, which is probably why they've put such a big emphasis on both being playable in the same ecosystem and how you could just switch between the two seamlessly.
Challenge Mode, one of the coolest thing I found during base pso2. Bit hard to do solo, but when doing it with alliance is one of the most fun thing I played in pso2

Started with NGS but now like 60% of my playtime is PSO2 base, it's a lot a lot a LOT of fun with tons of stuff to do, and tons of progression to inject into my veins. Do recommend.
I started on NGS and I play it for the combat, Base games combat just gives me migraines. It's really bad yet easy. If you wanna just do the story for SG and event rewards, maybe pick rifle, it's braindead/ranged so the bad combat mechanics are less cumbersome.
This is the issue I'm having, I only downloaded ngs last week and clocked on about 45 hours, I tried pso2 but I'm too use to the ngs combat and mechanics
Eh I can't do challenge move cuz I'm only a solo and pug group player, and I'm guessing that's true for most the player base. I just do my dailies and work towards depth 100 and run omega 110's. It's fun and rewarding tho, and doesn't rely on anyone else
Can 100% agree base PSO2 is worth a try if you only came for NGS. I had no interest in base and strictly played NGS until I saw your video on the Photon Booster camos. Now I'm addicted to base pso2. I get on NGS just to do my free scratch and dailies and then I'm on Base the rest of the day enjoying 8 yrs of content that I'm not even 20-25% through lol. I've actually just found leveling really fun and after I got my scion classes, I've finally been putting in effort to get good weapons/units and start the real farming.
Decision and Strike also have SG rewards, my alliance used to run those, plus running anything with randoms is a royal pain, yet with how low the ship 4 population is and how few alliance members login anymore, its basically unavoidable on getting trapped with randoms.
recently started fresh on ship 4. While its great to reach milestones like the Atlas EX again I noticed that im really out of touch with base PSO2. So I can only wish actual new players best of luck. (the mentioned updated gearing guide would be much appreciated)

Thinking about returning to the game (either NGS or base PSO2, haven't made up my mind which one first) after very little time spent in either of it. 20-30 hours in base PSO2 and a few in NGS when it launched. What would you recommend to play through first? NGS or base PSO2 to get a grip on the game, mechanics, gearing, etc?
What an irony I'm at the moment, I only played base (Oracle) PSO2 back in december 2020 and january 2021 for like 15 days before I completely forgot about the game, fast forward to october 2022, destiny guided me back to PSO2 on my Ps4 but... didn't read the fine print of connecting my old Xbox One profile and ended up restarting from zero (little issues anyway since I did little to no progress aside of doing like 2 Urgent Quests I did that at the day of this comment I already did those recently, like the one involving Dark Falz Gemini and Profound Darkness when I was at around Lv.10... yeah, for some stupid reason I did that UG at such reeeallly low level and somehow not wasting those "free 1-ups when your levels are 1 to 14 on all classes"), thankfully I'm really patient and (while I regret not doing so back in 2020 when it was on it's prime and early 2021) I'm really enjoying Oracle a lot and feeling the magic that I SHOULD had during those days and making more advantage of the stuff they no longer do like the Mission Passes, and now I keep switching from both Halpa (AKA: New Genesis) and Oracle (AKA: Base) a lot and have fun doing stuff on both sides, as my current situation in Oracle, I found myself enjoying the Summoner class a lot and also (just like how I started at the end of December 2020 before forgetting about the game for some stupid reason) I enjoy the Gunner class (Currently Lv.47 or 48 Summoner, 45 Gunner), I think I'm close to complete Episode 1 in terms of the story.
Finished story at base game last week, and just know about the free rewards from the story quest back that video went up (i think 1 or 2 weeks the story campaign are on going), and they extend the time up until this end of this month xD, The best things are... SuPH were my aim, and found the SU are more fun to use, then PH are kind of hard to learn, hard to master but all of that are paying very nicely even you got wrong on some skills point xD. now just farming the Ultimate booster to maxed the kyrios staff that i got and some units which is will be get my brain stromings for getting the units from ZiG, and not including the most pain work and it the augments xD
I did try to give base PSO2 a try but I can't get over the movement in that game, just from doing the tutorial I knew it would be a deal breaker for me. Hope everyone that goes back and enjoys it has a great time though!
This, so much this... SEGA clearly intended both to be played alongside each other since NGS will likely take a year or two before it gets its proper footing, remember that NGS was marketed as being a GIGA Update/expansion on the Japanese side of things rather than a full blown new title, unlike how it was marketed over here in the west as being a "new entry". If you crave more NGS and more PSO2 in general... please, give base a chance, it deserves it and if you end up liking it, then oh boy will you have the game to keep you busy during droughts like these, trust me. There's 8 years worth of fun content and now is the best time to get into it and use it.
Base PSO2 has always been good, although it be nice to get some Hard Primordial triggers. I never seen HTPD pop up as a random urgent since NGS’ release. (Probably does pop up but rarely). Cus that be a nice challenge to keep rerunning for players who played through base to the endgame. I can’t see base PSO2 being something to replace the drought that NGS has, at least for players who ran everything in base before NGS.
I started braver/hunter on pso2 for the story clear campaign. I've made it to the last stage of episode 6 but I can't beat Shiva... It's strange that up until now I've sailed through the story combat missions and now I hit this giant bladed wall and can't finish it up.
@@AA-hx8rl I understand the fight mechanics thanks to some research and keroppi's previous video, but I'm only level 49. I made it to this point without issue, but even on casual, Shiva hits so frequently and hard that I burn through my healing items incredibly fast. Some of her attacks manage to kill me outright (not just the counter bubble). I've got decent gear, but nothing incredible. I'm using Agito+2X and have focused my units to melee defense and enhanced to +10...I did make a mistake in mag development as it has more melee atk than dex. I get her to the 2nd phase where you can do decent damage to her without much trouble...and usually to the stage where she enrages or whatever the glowing red aura and altered attack pattern means, but no matter how long I beat on her, eventually I run out of healing items and drop. Not being able to use escape dolls to self revive in this fight is odd imo. I wish the mag skill could proc there too...or that Matoi (any story npc really) could revive the player. Don't get me wrong, I expect a hard fight as it's the end of the story, but what doesn't make sense to me is how much harder this fight is compared to those leading up to it.

Please lvl up, it gonna give you access to stronger weapon what kind of braver skill tree you used ? If katana, countering is the key If bow, try auxiliary arrow(s ability) And what kind of hunter tree do you used ?(offensive or defense) usually people go for defense. And affixing try just get to 150 s/r/t atk(just choose 1 for your main weapon) Mag, with excube you could reset the wrong point that already spent Ah last, katana right ? Change your subclass to etoile, I hope it's more tankier. Craft PA ?
I tried base PSO2 and found the animations are much better than NGS. There is weight in it, swingging the greatsword now feel so much better. I love it, and more delight to know 8yrs of content awaits.
I like the base game, but the economy really sucks now. The problem is not the big numbers, the problem is farming those big numbers when the community of the game is playing ngs or left the game. I would totally farm 1bi solo if I could, i don't mind the grinding, but it is unrealistic at the current state. You need 12 people to play cradle over and over again. Most people do cradle within their alliance. There is nothing to do as a loner. They could add more solo content or make a permanent 4man/8man mini cradle thing at least, something you can grind with randos non stop.
Hey I sheet to be that guy but I don’t know what to do in base pso2 as I did jump in to base and got my psion classes. I just don’t know what do do after I did the story. Any advice what should I do as I want to enjoy base more then farming the demon castle what ever it’s called.
Personally inventory management alone is reason enough to avoid to switching between ngs and base. The amount of junk you need to manage from just one game is enough. Casino/challenge mode/pvp largely isn't affected by that but are pretty empty most of the time unless you want to try and organize people to follow you in.
I started playing base pso2 like a week after NGS launched, and I learned a lot from your vids. But now I got a problem that in affixing units. It seems like I join the game a bit too late, that there's probably no mission passes any more at base pso2. So, I can't get any capsules that you suggested in previous vids(the ones talking about affixing Klauz units). I'd like to know if there's an alternative way to affix my Klauz units. It's crazy how we all achieved God weapons and Units, then NGS came out. Kinda wishes NGS came out a lot later, so we could enjoy base that extra bit longer and finish off things.
Decision and Strike in CM do give star gems, but it is more of a toss up trying to get top score for the 100sg, it’s far easier to hit top 50 for 30sg tho, or with some skill you can hit top 10 for 50sg. Also I think cm leaderboards calculate on mondays at least when it comes to the universal ship rankings.
I think the biggest two things that turn people away from classic pso2 if they started in NGS was not having a photon dash as well as lack of an open world. Those were the two biggest things for me anyways, but after I learned more about how to animation cancel and utilize movement PAs etc, I really found the enjoyment of playing classic pso2 over NGS and gained an appreciation that made me want to learn and level every single class. The main idea would be that they should be treated as two separate games that were bridged together because Sega respects their veteran player base. Anyways, thanks for putting out this video. I also think the base game needs more attention because there's just so much more depth, and people seem to overlook it because it's not the same game...

I recently drop the games both ngs and based. Currently on ship 4 and not a lot of people playing the base games and it is hard to gain mat for end games stuff. really consider whether to just stick with ngs or jump ship for better player pool.
Depeing on how far you got into base, I'd jump to Ship 1 or 2. I can't personally speak on Ship 1's population but I've seen a decent amount on it. I play on Ship 2 and usually 2 blocks are extremely populated at all times of the day.
Honestly, I'm doing the same thing with playing base PSO2. I've just unlocked my Scion classes for my Ship 3 Characters and I'm going to either Lv. 100 Phantom or Etoile just to be sure I unlock and defeat the true final boss in Story Mode. Also, I didn't say this in a previous vid of yours, but thanks for the massive tip on beating Shiva. That counter is just way too powerful.
I love the variety of attacks in base pso2 and while I havent played every class, all the classes I have played other than gunner I like more on classic. Classic braver is what made me so excited for braver on ngs so you could imagine my disappointment with the bow when it came out.
the main issue with base PSO 2 its the lack of storage space, its just not f2p friendly thats why i never get into it, the fact that ngs its fresh while old base pso 2 its just too overwhelm by the content and the way that it feels that its not worth it anymore
Unfortunately the player market in base is 5x more expensive than NGS so for a f2p casual player like me it’s really hard to buy stuff let alone do everything required to grind :(
I understand where you're coming from. As a new player, that really overwhelmed me too. But the only work around for that is to level up to 85 and join cradle runs. For the weapon, I would suggest getting the 15* Weapon Collection 1 folder. Which you need to work on. You need to finish 2 weapons first before getting the 15* weap. Think of those 2 weaps as Blueprints. Work through it with Urgent Quests. I believe one of the weapons there requires Lumin Mech kills. So the best go to UQ for that is Armada: Interception and Armada Training: Final Lament. Doing 2 rounds of that quest can finish the weapon with the lumin mech requirement. For the other weap, just keep playing UQ's with the highest difficulty available to you. Higher difficulty = better progression for that weap. When those 2 weaps are "100%" they should appear to the next quest that you do. They are colored "WHITE" so it's not easy to miss. Getting both of those, the 15* weap will be given to you right away. For the Units though, I usually equip the sub units one that I can loot that has high defense rating. Don't focus too much on the augments just yet if you're level 60 below. Hope this helps! :D
I kinda ruined the story quest experience for myself due to the SG scratch tickets and camos campaign cuz I rushed it all before the deadline got extended. I wish they'd just make it permanent instead so it doesn't happen to anyone else
I'll be honest I would have never tried this game out if ngs didnt come out. I understand where existing players are coming from but I do think ngs brought some spotlight to the game.
I agree base pso2 is still awesome it's because it has so much work and goodness has been put into it🙂 right now NGS feels too empty and that's probably why people are returning or trying PSO2 😮one there's too many things missing from the Genesis like personal quarters, Alliance quarters and of course my favorite the auxiliary😣 Plus I feel like the battles on PSO2 is more fun lot more Epic a lot more bosses to choose from, great storyline the feel like Each thing you did was rewarding and actually felt like they put work into it but I have to remember 8 years of content lol 😆 hopefully they get themselves together Sega needs to make so many improvements to NGS horribly they need to stop thinking about wallets for second and not everybody's are looking for just costumes but actual gameplay and bug fixes hopefully when the next updates happen there are a lot more things to do🤔
This is the thing that I want to hear form veteran player !! The tension of urgent quest, the feeling of unlocking your first Scion class, the desperation of affixing. Those feeling are amazing, at least for me.
Because Cradle of Darkness and Drawn to Darkness insane 13* and 14* drop rates ruined the economy of the game. If you want to farm enough money to buy things, farm this quests and convert everything you get into excubes, then trade the excubes for grinders and sell them.

I really hate how on PS4 upgrading to NGS installs NGS and erases PSO2. Then it doesn't matter because you can't download PSO2 or play because players outside of Japan are blocked.

The thing I see most of new players complain about is the story. And I do agree with few first episodes being pretty dragged out it seems like a chore to do. But for the new base pso players... DON'T LET IT PUSH YOU AWAY! I totally agree with the video, I found myself playing base pso more than ngs, there is so much to do and overall it seems... better

Tried playing Base PSO2, this motherfucker that stops time, one shot me every time in the second fase, and I won't do it on easy mode, so I gave up. Would rather spent my time farming meseta to customize my character.
As a player of PSO2 that literally has everything… the market is extremely obsolete, but I can enjoy the game and help others. I love PSO2 so much, NGS is good and all, just blank

Bit late but don't see how PSO2's combat is easier, the only change that NGS had to combat was removing the perfect/just attack system.

*my very recent Base PSO2 achievement was the "Cutter of Copious Crimes" title (23K kills with a particular sword) and " Tsumikiri camo"*

When she's glow, stop attacking her. That glow is sign of her counter attack (just like A.I.S vega deflect)

If bow, try auxiliary arrow(s ability)
And what kind of hunter tree do you used ?(offensive or defense) usually people go for defense.
And affixing try just get to 150 s/r/t atk(just choose 1 for your main weapon)
Mag, with excube you could reset the wrong point that already spent

I tried base PSO2 and found the animations are much better than NGS. There is weight in it, swingging the greatsword now feel so much better. I love it, and more delight to know 8yrs of content awaits.
I like the base game, but the economy really sucks now. The problem is not the big numbers, the problem is farming those big numbers when the community of the game is playing ngs or left the game. I would totally farm 1bi solo if I could, i don't mind the grinding, but it is unrealistic at the current state. You need 12 people to play cradle over and over again. Most people do cradle within their alliance. There is nothing to do as a loner. They could add more solo content or make a permanent 4man/8man mini cradle thing at least, something you can grind with randos non stop.
Hey I sheet to be that guy but I don’t know what to do in base pso2 as I did jump in to base and got my psion classes. I just don’t know what do do after I did the story. Any advice what should I do as I want to enjoy base more then farming the demon castle what ever it’s called.
Personally inventory management alone is reason enough to avoid to switching between ngs and base. The amount of junk you need to manage from just one game is enough. Casino/challenge mode/pvp largely isn't affected by that but are pretty empty most of the time unless you want to try and organize people to follow you in.

I started playing base pso2 like a week after NGS launched, and I learned a lot from your vids. But now I got a problem that in affixing units.
It seems like I join the game a bit too late, that there's probably no mission passes any more at base pso2. So, I can't get any capsules that you suggested in previous vids(the ones talking about affixing Klauz units).
I'd like to know if there's an alternative way to affix my Klauz units. Thank you very much!
It's crazy how we all achieved God weapons and Units, then NGS came out.
Kinda wishes NGS came out a lot later, so we could enjoy base that extra bit longer and finish off things.
Decision and Strike in CM do give star gems, but it is more of a toss up trying to get top score for the 100sg, it’s far easier to hit top 50 for 30sg tho, or with some skill you can hit top 10 for 50sg. Also I think cm leaderboards calculate on mondays at least when it comes to the universal ship rankings.

I think the biggest two things that turn people away from classic pso2 if they started in NGS was not having a photon dash as well as lack of an open world.
Those were the two biggest things for me anyways, but after I learned more about how to animation cancel and utilize movement PAs etc, I really found the enjoyment of playing classic pso2 over NGS and gained an appreciation that made me want to learn and level every single class.
The main idea would be that they should be treated as two separate games that were bridged together because Sega respects their veteran player base. Anyways, thanks for putting out this video. I also think the base game needs more attention because there's just so much more depth, and people seem to overlook it because it's not the same game...

I recently drop the games both ngs and based. Currently on ship 4 and not a lot of people playing the base games and it is hard to gain mat for end games stuff. really consider whether to just stick with ngs or jump ship for better player pool.

Depeing on how far you got into base, I'd jump to Ship 1 or 2. I can't personally speak on Ship 1's population but I've seen a decent amount on it. I play on Ship 2 and usually 2 blocks are extremely populated at all times of the day.
Honestly, I'm doing the same thing with playing base PSO2. I've just unlocked my Scion classes for my Ship 3 Characters and I'm going to either Lv. 100 Phantom or Etoile just to be sure I unlock and defeat the true final boss in Story Mode.
Also, I didn't say this in a previous vid of yours, but thanks for the massive tip on beating Shiva. That counter is just way too powerful.
I love the variety of attacks in base pso2 and while I havent played every class, all the classes I have played other than gunner I like more on classic. Classic braver is what made me so excited for braver on ngs so you could imagine my disappointment with the bow when it came out.
the main issue with base PSO 2 its the lack of storage space, its just not f2p friendly thats why i never get into it, the fact that ngs its fresh while old base pso 2 its just too overwhelm by the content and the way that it feels that its not worth it anymore
Unfortunately the player market in base is 5x more expensive than NGS so for a f2p casual player like me it’s really hard to buy stuff let alone do everything required to grind :(
I understand where you're coming from. As a new player, that really overwhelmed me too. But the only work around for that is to level up to 85 and join cradle runs. For the weapon, I would suggest getting the 15* Weapon Collection 1 folder. Which you need to work on. You need to finish 2 weapons first before getting the 15* weap. Think of those 2 weaps as Blueprints. Work through it with Urgent Quests. I believe one of the weapons there requires Lumin Mech kills. So the best go to UQ for that is Armada: Interception
and Armada Training: Final Lament. Doing 2 rounds of that quest can finish the weapon with the lumin mech requirement. For the other weap, just keep playing UQ's with the highest difficulty available to you. Higher difficulty = better progression for that weap. When those 2 weaps are "100%" they should appear to the next quest that you do. They are colored "WHITE" so it's not easy to miss. Getting both of those, the 15* weap will be given to you right away. For the Units though, I usually equip the sub units one that I can loot that has high defense rating. Don't focus too much on the augments just yet if you're level 60 below. Hope this helps! :D

I agree base pso2 is still awesome it's because it has so much work and goodness has been put into it🙂 right now NGS feels too empty and that's probably why people are returning or trying PSO2 😮one there's too many things missing from the Genesis like personal quarters, Alliance quarters and of course my favorite the auxiliary😣 Plus I feel like the battles on PSO2 is more fun lot more Epic a lot more bosses to choose from, great storyline the feel like Each thing you did was rewarding and actually felt like they put work into it but I have to remember 8 years of content lol 😆 hopefully they get themselves together Sega needs to make so many improvements to NGS horribly they need to stop thinking about wallets for second and not everybody's are looking for just costumes but actual gameplay and bug fixes hopefully when the next updates happen there are a lot more things to do🤔

The combat in base PSO2 is better, I miss staying in the air for entire fights. It's annoying that they made it so you have to land a lot in NGS.
That and the enemies always run and bounce around… sometimes to where you can’t even hit them.. horrible fighting mechanics

Because Cradle of Darkness and Drawn to Darkness insane 13* and 14* drop rates ruined the economy of the game. If you want to farm enough money to buy things, farm this quests and convert everything you get into excubes, then trade the excubes for grinders and sell them.
I played base before and even if I can play the base that's widely known to have more I won't play it cuz it's not NGS.

I really hate how on PS4 upgrading to NGS installs NGS and erases PSO2. Then it doesn't matter because you can't download PSO2 or play because players outside of Japan are blocked.
