Just bought passat B4 with abf in it and can't wait to start the disassembly. Your channel already answered all my questions that I had before swap so Thank You. Now need to think about this 6 gear gearbox 😄
Very good job💪🏻 so excited to hear this engine running, love the way you are working. And yes it is much easier to install everything around the engine before putting the engine in👍👍😊 good job 👏
Hey! Question about that 02S 6 speed. I've hybridized a few of them with 02J bellhousings for Mk4s, but have noticed that it's missing two of the bosses and bolt holes for the mk3 and older transmission mount bracket. I assumed one would have to use a 02J rear case half to make it work, but somehow you have that mount bracket attached to the 0A4/02S rear case half. Would be curious to see how you accomplished that. Not running one of the bolts for starters?
Hi there, sorry about the late reply, the rear bracket with the 3 bolts right, two bolts line up on my cases, for the centre bolt the 02S case was taken down 3mm and the bracket down 3mm so as to fit a 6mm plate in-between.
Thank you for sharing. I’m buying an O2S gearbox to fit in my ABF-converted Scirocco. Could I ask you which clutch kit you used and possibly how I could make it fit a Mk.2 Scirocco? I think the layout is identical to a Mk.1 Golf. Thank you.
The clutch kit I'm using is a Golf mk3 VR6, easy covers ABF torque output. flywheel is ABF 02A. There is a difference on the 02S diff case where the rear gearbox bracket would bolt on to. I'm guessing you would need to get a 02A/J conversion bracket kit.
@@RestoDesignsnando Thanks so much for this information. I was hopi g the O2A flywheel would work, but I didn’t have a clue which clutch to use or which conversion kit! Cheers.👍👍
It is a custom gear set,(kind of) I remember only one gear was changed so the drop gap was smaller, maybe it was 3rd🤔 I've had this gearbox made some 8+ years ago, so can't really remember the original gearbox code unfortunately, I do remember it being one of the 1.9 TDI 105ps sport gearboxes.
The gearbox rear mount is 02A one from a Golf mk3, it's not plug n play due to the 02S gearbox case doesn't have the 3 holes, only one. So you will have to make something up, this gearbox has one side of the case 02J which does have the 3 holes, so made life a little bit easier.
Used a 1.9 TDI 1Z flywheel and had that lightened, the clutch is a standard VR6 one, great clutches for ABF and even 1.8T's, it can easy handle this motor's output and cars weight.
I think you could make it fit, I can't remember if the cable support bit that bolts on to the gearbox got in the way of the 02J shifter tower. But I also don't see why the earlier 02A shifter tower don't fit into this 02S gearbox. 🤔
@@RestoDesignsnando i have a homemade cable support on my 02j tower swapped 02a gearbox and it is in the way of the reverse switch no way that i can see it wont be in the way of that, but could be fun to see if the actuator will bolt up i have a bunch of them laying around from old T4s
This channel never dissapoints. Very informative.

Thank you for all you support on the channel friend 🙏🏼
I envy the condition of the tunell shield, spent 2hours today trying to clean up an original 88 type 19 shield with TFR to make it look presentable.
Thanks, those underbody shields here sometimes are mint. If they wasn't so large I'd have them on my site.
You're inspiring me to get started on a project car now.
Thanks mate, Glad you found this helpful👊🏼
Perfect video! Love that you share all the knowlege! :D
Thank you and glad you find this knowledge helpful 👊🏼
@@RestoDesignsnando Yes sir! :D
Continuação de bom projecto!!

Excellent content as as always.
Do you have a custom gear set in this gearbox ir is it standard?

Hi could you please send some pictures of this doing the same thing and would like to see how you made it work
Projecto excelente PARABÉNS! Um abraço
Muito obrigado amigo. 🙏🏼
Do you have a list of all parts needed to do the 6sd swap?
Doing one for my 81 diesel rabbit that initially got swapped to a g60 with 4sd
Top draw 🤙🏻
Thank you mate👍🏼
Could You say sth more about the clutch and flywheel? What did You use?

what is the model of gear selector and gearbox?
The gear selector was from a Golf mk4 tdi 2001 and the gearbox is a 02S but I can't remember the gearbox code.
do you think a cable clutch actuator will fit the 6 speed tranny? it looks kinda the same

What iss the gear code of the 6speed gear?
The gearbox is a 02S, but I can't remember what the code is, I know it has a 3:6 Final drive.
