This is an amazing model! Would be better if they could redesign the initial inflation phase, so the basket is laying on it's side for inflation. Other than that, it reminds me of the intro lesson I took with Balloon Range, in Colorado, back in the late 70s, and when I crewed for a pilot in Sky Parade 93. Definitely going to pick this up on release day. Thanks for sharing this.
This is not a study level addon, I have spoken directly to the developer and when asked what is simulated this was his response: like the H145 I learned the physics and implemented simple versions of all the mechanics i thought reasonable. with respect to wind, the whole balloon moves essentially 1:1 with the airmass. in practice there may be a little drag here that I definitely didn't simulate. for ease i orient the basket away from the wind, normally the symmetrical balloon will ambiently spin on its yaw axis the envelope is about calculating buoyancy, which is mostly a function of temperature delta. that buoyancy is real-time and as you deplete fuel, change weather or change payload you'll see the balloon condition instantly change. the envelope itself and the valve have heat loss, i don't have a great understanding of thermodynamics so this is a pretty simple equation that is relative to the overall delta (ie if its colder outside its harder to keep your envelope at a constant temp) MSFS doesn't have APIs for me to determine the sun level on my envelope (or even the overall light level at all...), so there is a limit on how well such a simulation could work. still, if its raining heat loss will be more and i don't simulate that. overall at 15$ we don't wish people understand it to be study level, but its a pretty strong shot at a simple hot air balloon simulation. if balloonists show up and can give detailed specific feedback i will work to improve what is possible, but the idea here isn't to built the most accurate realistic balloon either. I would like to address the 'yaw away from wind' behavior as I feel that is unrealistic, but its handy and eases orientation so I don't think its a bad tradeoff for now. something we will probably need is 'wind layers', i don't yet know if MSFS may be able to do this with its default weather system real balloonists will move laterally by ascending and descending to slightly higher or lower air, where the currant is another direction and that gives you lateral control within that angle difference between the wind at the two layers if we can't end up doing that with MSFS weather then I can add a feature so you can set the layers and the bearing of the wind in that layer truth be told I don't know exactly what people want to do with their balloons and how far we should go, so like the previous aircraft we'll let user feedback drive some of that.
This is cool insight to their process, thank you for sharing. I think it’s evident when you see the the pressure gauges are static. But man, I learned a lot of new things I didn’t know about hot air balloons from reading their manual and trying it. The great thing about their efforts here, is that I’m sure this will flag down input from a professional in that industry and they can build onto it. Several reasons for the title. It’s framed as a question not a fact to spark curiosity of the video. It sounds funny as hell all together. But also a jab at the label “study level” in general.
For the basket? Well I guess both. They probably would have liked to do that. But after watching how it expands and wiggles and collapses, I don’t think it would work logistically to sit flat and expand seamlessly in this 3D space. First time I’ve seen an object move like this in the sim. I can see the sideways basket thing happening.
What a joke I just got this on my xbox series x it doesn't even do this at all it does goes up and move nothing what a disappointing especially for $15.00 it just floor me wow really
The old ones damn sure were! At least this one has consequences like the balloon collapsing mid-air. Plus fireworks, AI balloon injection which is fun.
Disagree. Have been in a real balloon flight. Far from boring. Try flying a triangle cross-country by changing altitude only. Nice addition to the sim. Lots of skill goes into this.

Never thought a hot air balloon could get this detailed
Now this is something Ive been wanting a study level version of.
Hot air balloon stream! We should have a fireworks fight.
u think the wrench is explained in the POH ;-)
Simply Wow. This is awesome, what a great idea. Next, can we have the V22 Osprey and then maybe a jetpack.
Someone did a jet pack guy, check this out: ruclips.net/video/0kTFRwx5Nso/видео.html

0:40 I think he burned a hole in the side of the balloon 🎈 . LoL 😂
This is the fireproof edition ; )
Surest way to spot the amateurs is to look for the burned skirts!
I'll try an ILS approach with this one!
I’ll raise you a CAT lll ILS.
ILS = I Land Soft. Yes that is possible in a balloon
@@FritzWeinrebe CAT III = soft soft soft ✌️
Okay cool! Now do a highspeed pass at 400 knots into a vertical!
When fsx hot air balloon gets an upgrade:
that festival in Albuquerque is just so gorgeous...
Okay that was about to fun to watch, as actually flying the thing! lol
I cannot believe this. I just cannot. Wow
This is the type of aeroplane you didn't know you need.

real balloonists will move laterally by ascending and descending to slightly higher or lower air, where the currant is another direction

Nice feedback thanks.
You can‘t shoot Rockets from Fighterjets, But you can shoot rockets from ballons? Maybe it’s the Alpha of a new TacPac?😂
I’ve only seen it done for MSFS by this developer. They made a military variant of the H145 that shoots rockets.
Is this actually available? Or is it just a concept? On the way? What’s the story?
It's coming out in a few days. This is the release version though.
How can i get the add on when it comes out? Will it be available on the STEAM version?
The Hype Performance Group website will have it later this week. Will work for the Steam version. www.hypeperformancegroup.com
How neat
Can it do 400 knots while inverted?
The balloon will collapse and you will hall to the floor with this one lol.
@@TheFlightSimDeck and 400 knots sideways
Now is there an option to go mach 3 in it 😏
I don't know, but it does shoot fireworks lol 2:38
this is crazy
The question is… can it do mach 3.0 at 1000 feet?
Ideal for tornado watching?
If you crank up the wind speed to Mach 3.0, then yes ye haa.....
So cool!
It should start horizontally - flat on the ground

Xplane12 has left the chat.
How's the fps on the ground ?
..
