    As always, a great review video. I appreciate the fact that along with the positive aspects or pros of the items you are reviewing, you often also mention the aspects of a product that may be a design weak spot or negative.

    I have found that if you turn it upside down on top of a large vegetable steamer tray. It gets enough air flow that it doesn't smother it and you can use a number of different fuel sources. As well as it's great for an alcohol burner that way.

    Sounds like a pretty bang on review. I was thinking it’s not the best stove, because it’s too wide, but as you said, it’s a little like a fire pit too.
    I really don’t like feed ports so big that there isn’t even a lip at the bottom. They should be smaller, or bigger, but with something to at least stop some of the coals rolling out.

    • @MarkYoungBushcraft
      @MarkYoungBushcraft  Год назад

      I am finding it is easier to just feed it from the top at each corner, as long as the pot/pan is not too big. I could give up the feed port altogether. I will try this by placing a metal plate across it. Thanks for commenting Jim

    Mark, I found that the relatively small base grate would choke off air as coals built up during an extended burn. I ended up drilling some additional holes in the side plates towards the bottom to keep the air flowing, even with the large feed port. I also found that while pushing splits or thumb-sized twigs through the feed port during an extended burn it would concentrate the flame in the opposite corner of the triangle , which added some challenges to even cooking. I think you are correct that this ends up functioning as a mini open fire pit. I, for one, I am happy with it. Unmodified, it is best for use in putting on a hasty boil with whatever twigs are handy without the hassle of doing a bunch of wood processing as you might for a small gasifier or a firebox. It’s worth the modest money and plenty fun to play with in the woods. Also, much lighter than a firebox and far cheaper. A final thought regards a sprit burner. The wide feed port allows one to use the simmer ring (important when steaming rice). Very few of these wood burner stoves allow for the alcohol burner simmer ring without a lot of fiddling. This one does. It’s a plus when you aim to extend the alcohol burn at a lower intensity, which I often do.

      I agree with you experience. I have found if I feed my sticks in from the top, doing so from the three corners I am better able to center the flame. Thanks for commenting

    I really like this and it’s very affordable. These stoves are a black hole. I have about 5 or 6 different kinds. I most say I’ve been pretty lucky all mine are ok. My favorite is my small titanium one but I only use it for coffee and water. But they all have their quarks.

    Looks like a decent cook stove because it's not as full out hot as the gassifier or firebox type stove. This looks a bit lower heat and more forgiving for cooking.

    Another personal fire pit for your collection. 😁
    Thanks for the demonstration. Of course, it gave me another idea for a prototype wood burner using titanium stovepipe...🙄

    • @MarkYoungBushcraft
      @MarkYoungBushcraft  11 месяцев назад +1

      The issue for me is I usually have new stoves to test so I don't always carry just one stove. However, if you are asking what stove I would carry most often, it would be either the Firebox or Bushbox in titanium. Best balance between versatility and weight. Thanks for commenting

    I'd be intrigued to see how well the stove operates while flipped upside down... Would it concentrate the flame to a single point and would that give you a useable pot stand... Also I imagine it would be a heck of a portable fire pit if you had a 2nd one and put it together in a hexagon or pentagon formation.

    • @MarkYoungBushcraft
      @MarkYoungBushcraft  Год назад +1

      The company says it could be added to a second stove but would have no fire grate. I may demonstrate it upside down at some point. Thanks for commenting
