Albert Odyssey always looked cool. Never had the opportunity to play it. That brand of paper is good. It’s inexpensive and high quality, I’ve used it myself. Way back when(I’m talking PS1 days) I would make my own cases if originals were damaged or lack of cover art. Would sometimes cut artwork out of strategy guides to create the cd case sleeves for the game lol. You did a good job on those, it’s cool to have the means now to do this.
Thanks dude! Tried to channel my inner LGR a bit in today's video, if you like videos of this style be sure to check out Clint, he's a truly cool dude! Hopefully I'll be able to make more videos like this in the future as well. :)
I remember when we were in that Goodwill. You saw one game in the pack and speculated there were more. You held on that with a death grip. We haven't found a deal as good as that since!
I did something similar with a few Genesis and Master System games I wanted on the shelf, but didn't want to afford real cases. I had some trouble getting the colors to match up just right, but I eventually got things good enough that you can't tell when it's sitting there on the shelf. Having worked with guillotine style paper cutters, I don't really trust them to make a good straight cut. The paper can shift position in mid slice if you're not careful and wind up with awkward edges. Instead, I found a craft cutting board thing my mother had lying around. It has a folding clamp that holds the page in place, and a small blade that you slide across the board. Worked really well. And thanks for sharing those cover and manual resources. It's nice to know someone is out there keeping this stuff archived. I might need it if I get the shelf space to put my Sega CD games in cases.
Hey Derek! For folding it looks like you could use a scoring knife. It would make folding way easier but it might mean getting a scoring board if the cutting board lines aren’t deep enough. (Might not even need it since these came out so great) Awesome seeing this kind of vid from you. I’m a huge DIY guy
Thanks dude, I'll have to look into that! If I ever decide to make some replacement cases for some of my loose PlayStation discs, that might be really handy!
I know very little about printers and thought all of the ink ones used cartridges. If I get another printer I like the ink well idea a lot more. This is a fun creation video. Had no idea you got so many Saturn games on the cheap years ago, which is just a super score at a Goodwill. That was fun, thanks Derek!
Cool. I used to do this with my PS2 games and now I'm satisfied. I used resources at my job, but now they took away the color printer. What I liked to do was sometimes I would make my own cover art. I would use the Pal or Japan art if I liked it better.
I mean, I remember in the late 90s when I started seeing people doing fake covers etc never felt it was wrong - it was just to have a nice display for your games. it was never about tricking people or about money. I seriously doubt any developer, who made the game you STILL play would be offended that you show some love to the game they worked hard on and want to keep in a shelf.
Great to see replacements for this. I got some regular PS1 PAL cases over the last few years, which is also a gods end, as PAL PS1 came in more chunky special cases. Now... if only a company would make some Dreamcast PAL replacement cases. These things are so brittle that they break just looking at them :(
@@SuperDerek Yeah, they look great. All three seconds until they break. Seriously, I keep my DC games in DVD cases so I dont break every original case just opening them :/
Thank you, dude. Got a big crate of master system and megadrive/Genesis that are badly weather damaged (the Sega CD games survived luckily) the cartridges are in decent condition but the plastic cases and paper inserts are a rightoff. Not concerned about the value. Just want them in a state I can add them to the game shelves. Don't own a printer but it'll be inexpensive to get them printed locally. Now to find some OG Sega cases.
Love your videos, man. I was wondering If you've ever played Baten Kaitos and your thoughts on the games? (I did a search and couldn't find it, if you did make one) Cheers! Hopefully my question wasn't too random. Awe who are we kidding...😅
I haven't had the luxury of working with color laser printers very often, but when I have in the past, their color quality was never really one of their strengths. And most glossy photo paper that gives you that shiny finish aren't compatible with laser printers, as far as I know. That said, I've heard success stories from people who take their files down to a FedEx Kinkos print shop, if buying a whole special printer just isn't in the cards. :)
Hey SuperDerek, I wanted to tell you about two cool new indie RPGs on steam that are under the radar. One is called "Lifespace Traveler" which is a bullet-hell,cyberpunk, soul-like and has a demo. the other is called "Memoryland Prelude" which is a deckbulbing RPG with a cool liminal space/vapor wave aesthetic. in the game you use the cards to summon allies, and other interesting mechanics. But is pretty unfair and unbalanced. I don't think anyone has talked about these games so maybe do an experience points on one of them.

I love the background track. Really helps keep my brain on track watching the process. I love the trail and error being recorded with the foam

Wow I've haven't seen your videos in years but suddenly you popped back in my head looking good man
Never owned a Saturn, but I'm a big fan of those cases! Might be my favorite style of game case - big and beautiful!

Thanks for the idea for Sega Saturn cases! I need to make a couple like one for Herc’s Adventur.
Albert Odyssey was so awesome for it's time
This is interesting, and helpful. I don't have any cases or manuals for my games since I'm not a collector, so maybe I should make some of these.
Great video and awesome job on how they turned out!
I never owned a Saturn but I do have an aspirational bookmark for a Satiator and a friendly local video game store. Someday...
Very interesting. I have Tales of Legendia disc only and I considered doing something like this for it. Nice to know this option is out there.
Just let the kitty on camera will ya?! 😂 Love ya Derek!!
Etsy got em too! Freaking love these cases! The old ones break so easily over time and crack. Just about every game I find used has cracked cases.

I loved Albert Odyssey, but I can't remember much beyond the first half of the game. I should play it again.

Hey, what size are u printing these? How many pixels to be particular? I printed one out at staples and it’s too big.
Do the hinges shatter if you look at them wrong?
So far, no shattering, despite hundreds of people oogling them so far ;)
@@SuperDerek Well that's good to know. I think every time I move another Sega CD/Saturn corner breaks off.

Would it be ideal to use photo paper and a color laser printer? Overall these definitely came out great.

What are the size of the long boxes? I need help printing out mine?
Those look great 👍
Thanks dude! 😊
that was a fun video
Riviera remaster announced
Those plastic cases are scientifically designed to explode just by looking at them lol.
My poor ps1 collection is a mess lol
