honestly this was so much more informative than i expected, the weight distribution and core movement was so useful and i’d never seen anyone mention it in a tutorial, i guess it comes naturally after riding for a while but knowing off the bat is great
Thank you I was really hoping it would be helpful. Learning balance activities like skateboarding doesn't come natural to everyone. Hoping we can help people get past the hard spots a little easier!
Dude thank you so much. I was trying all day to get the push right because no other channel explained it like you did. After watching this I could do it almost immediately
Thank you for wearing saftey gear in your videos. Sounds daft but hardly anyone does on youtube. I'm 33 and just starting out. I always wear a helmet etc and i'm the only one at the skatepark who does. Your videos make me feel normal for wearing them so thanks :-)
You are welcome and I'm glad these can make you feel more comfortable about protecting your brain! We are acutely focused on helping people learn how to skate and the best chance you have to staying at it is protecting your brain (and the rest of your body for that matter! No pressure on people who don't want to wear them. I've always been ok gearing up and skating with my friends:)!
Thank you for these videos! I really appreciate the emphasis on working on balancing and getting really comfortable with the board. Some days I feel pretty desperate to learn actual tricks, but in reality, after skating a year, I only really got comfortable cruising, turning by leaning, and tail drags. So these types of videos help ground me, and just serve as a reminder that all this work is worth it down the road when I’ll finally learn off the ground type of tricks. I’ll be liking the videos going forward and already subscribed
Thank you so much for your support! I love helping novice skaters grow their confidence through understanding. AS you develop your skill base you will find that your desire to learn those tricks will be in flow with your readiness to learn them! Be patient and feel free to ask for a trick break down if there is something you really want help learning faster!
Not the most natural but hopefully help get the point across to go with the fall:). There are so many ways to fall and save yourself that skaters learn through experience it's just important for beginners to have a place to start.
i just got my new board today, used to have one two years ago but only skated on it for 3 weeks. so im as new as you can get. tried to stop today and did a split, hurt pretty bad. but i hope i will improve fast enough. i feel like i have cruising under control maybe i should tighten my trucks a little.
Thanks for the positive feedback! Trying to cover the "easy" things that really aren't so easy to learn. Figure we could help people avoid some of the fear and struggle!
thanks man i watched your video so many times td n it helped a lot i wasn’t feelin any motivation to skate cuz i didn’t know how to start so thanks i don’t regret gettin into skating
Hey man! Your videos have helped me a ton, I just got my first skateboard a few days ago and you’ve definitely helped me feel more at ease, especially will all of your tips. You’ve definitely made my skating journey wayyy easier, thank you!
So stoked you found it! Just glad we can help anyone make it through the hard parts in the beginning! It's easy to gloss over how difficult the first steps are but when you make it to place where you can cruise around and work your way into pumping bowl pockets at the park skateboarding becomes so much more fun!
Of course. Usually this is caused by a lack of flex in the ankle and a foot position that is slightly shifted to one side of the board or the other. Practice on the carpet or in the grass at home first just getting a feel for one foot balance over your front foot. Feel the ankle bend and see if you can tip your lower leg to the left and right like an analogue video game joy stick. Then see if you can maintain a flat deck while you practice simulated pushing steps. You absolutely have to have this kind of balance and discipline to keep the board straight and build confidence. Hey if you send me video of what you're struggling with I'm happy to help you! Maybe describe whats happenign a little more and I will do my best to help!
I'm guessing you mean tipping toward the toeside edge? If that is the case then this should help... Start by flexing the ankles then extend the hips. Keep your spine upright. Most people make the mistake of trying to lean or tip with their whole body into the toeside turn. Once your upper body tips too far over the toes you'll start to loose balance. Watch video 6 of 6 it goes into a little detail on this. ruclips.net/video/v6MIGHlHKzM/видео.html Feel free to send video if you'd like feedback.
For sure on the run-off and roll. If you're not wearing any pads rolling will save you a lot of times. Knee and elbow slides will likely lead to tore up wounds (unless you're on a smooth surface and do it just right) without pads but are probably better than some other possible injuries. First I'd say wear a helmet and pads if you can but if you're not roll it out and practice rolling and knee slides on smooth ramps (skatelite and masonite top surface).
That would not be fun. I'd wear some clothes that would at least protect you a little and try to roll. Helmet, pants,, shirt, pads, good skate shoes... Good luck!
It can be awkward at first. Practice the foot work for stepping on and off with your board on the carpet where it can't roll. Get really comfortable with the foot work so you can do it without thinking about it. When you get back to rolling on concrete just don't worry about turning your front foot side ways right away. Just get comfortable pushing and then stepping on with your back foot. Once that gets easier then you can try pivoting your front foot across the board. Just take it in small steps and you'll get there!

Thanks for beautiful tutorial. For some reason I cannot go straight when I push what should or shouldn't i do or got any tips?

Hi I watched all your series but I still fall, when ever I push then try turning my foot side ways it goes banks and i fall😭, can you help me please

When tipping forward, I’ve fallen forward a lot, is there a tip for that?

does the same steps apply for falling even when not wearing tour ppe?

What if I fall but all I have are shorts and a sleeveles shirt?
That would not be fun. I'd wear some clothes that would at least protect you a little and try to roll. Helmet, pants,, shirt, pads, good skate shoes... Good luck!
That looks like an Aikido roll :)
We roll like martial artists to recover and if you look at an ollie closely we sidekick like martial artists too! I've always loved the similarities!
I dont think i wanna try that roll coming down a slope at high speed, I'll break my neck 😅
When im skating im scared to turn sideways.
