I can't count the times I've heard older shooter talk about how a red dot is so much easier for their eyes to pick up. Now that I'm an old guy I totally agree. I put em on everything.
Had cataract surgery and could no longer focus on the front site. Even with progressive lenses you have to tilt your head to see the front site. Red dot eliminates the issue and more importantly keeps your focus on the target without the drawbacks of a laser. Huge benefit
I can't count the times I've heard older shooters say " you don't need no red dot boy, just a good ol set of irons". I had an instructor make me take my red dot off to be able to get a cert I needed for work.
I focus my eyes on the target even with irons. I don't focus on the sight. I can still tell if they are lined up when they are blurry. A parallel line is still a parallel line.

I took a class with Scott three years ago at the OTOA Conference. It was a great class, loved his sense of humor. But, most importantly, I learned a lot even in an abbreviated class. Scott is an excellent instructor and his techniques work. His class was a deciding factor to allow red dots on pistols in the Sheriff's Office that I am the training officer for. With our new Sheriff coming in this January I hope to get red dots issued with our pistols to all the guys that want them. I had already started purchasing MOS versions of our duty pistols when ever I have had to purchase new ones. I am not going to make them mandatory but I think as the guys get exposure to and use mine (which I believe in enough to have purchased my RMR for my issued duty weapon on my own dime) they will come around. I feel with our patrol area being mostly rural and back up being usually 5 to 15 minutes away, the guys being able to defend themselves alone is more important than uniformity, so as long as I have any say they will be able to use what they are most confidant with. Thanks for excellent content as usual. David Spicer

I'm a budget shooter and I always thought red dot was for rich people. Holosun has made it to where you can get that option for cheap and it's stupid durable. Ever since I got my red dot on my pistol it feels like I'm cheating. Easier to see your target and you can actually see what you are hitting

I agree 100%, I took his course in 2022 and I greatly approved of my draw stroke and presentation. I got more confident in using the red dot. Very valuable class. Thanks
What yardage zero did he recommend for carry and home defense ?
You continue to deliver heartfelt down to Earth content. Godspeed
Frank's Red Dot
I can't count the times I've heard older shooters say " you don't need no red dot boy, just a good ol set of irons".
I had an instructor make me take my red dot off to be able to get a cert I needed for work.
@@LoneStarLegion that and how everything should go back to paper. Throwing tantrums and shit
I focus my eyes on the target even with irons. I don't focus on the sight. I can still tell if they are lined up when they are blurry. A parallel line is still a parallel line.
i love how mike keeps bringing so many awesome icons of knowledge onto the channel
Hey man, I think its awesome how you always encourage people to get training and always have a message about doing things to better themselves in their own life, and then you put out a video showing that you're not above what you preach. Keep up the great work and keep the videos coming!
You didn’t say “Big Daddy Unlimited” as enthusiastically as normal. Hope earthing is okay between you two.
Could be due to the constant out of stock lack of in stock items and extending shipping times unlike they had before the whole panic.
@@thetangentshow4797 Items being out of stock is an industry-wide problem at the moment. I think they're through the worst of the shipping delays, though. I put in an order on April 24th (Friday), and it shipped in two parts on May 13th and May 14th (Wednesday/Thursday). Das bad. I put in another order recently, June 5th (Friday), that shipped out on June 9th (Tuesday). Another even more recently, July 5th (Sunday). Shipped in two parts, July 7th and July 8th (Tuesday/Wednesday). From what I can tell, they're pretty much back to normal.
@@SuperVeeZee bro, thank you so much for putting what day if the week it is you did your order vs receiving.

He spends a lot of time one on one with every single student.
I am better in every way with my handgun after investing in his class.
I started hating the dot when I bought one. And after months of Practice I love it and would never go back to irons unless I had too. It's like anything, take your time and practice. I'm almost certain you will love it too. Don't give up!!!

After shooting my first reflex on a pistol I immediately bought two more hand guns with optic plates!! This is a game changer and any auto pistol I buy
from now on will have an optic!!
Took a class from the Jedi at OTOA this year and it was by far the most informative class I have ever been to. The man is a pew pew genius.
astigmatism gang where you at
Astigmatism here. Red Stars are fast and accurate too! 😉
Yo
Heyyy
Dots as small as 3.25 moa or smaller is where it's at for us. I had a major issue with my buddy's 6 moa. Very hard to focus on a big dot.
@@rebelpatriot_nc_9156 i personally preffer to not compromise ... so for me ideal optic is Holosun 32MOA ring with fine 2MOA dot in the middle - MUCH easier to find than just plain dot with fine small dot (star... xD) in the middle for accuracy
Every optics manufacturer: "We've made this special optic that works for people with astigmatism."
Me: *Cries in protanomaly and deutanomaly*
We need blue dots dammit
Garrett S they do exist but generally only on super cheap bs dots
Just use irons

Pretty sure it's prisms and holos.
I’d put a red dot on my thumb knuckle if I could. For when I pretended 👉🏽• • •
Drill a hole in your thumb add saran wrap draw on any you want
You should make a Kydex holster for it. Just heat that sheet and slap it on to form it...
Bro!! That would be easy to do, got a 3D printer? Just make a thumb ring with a small rail mount, put any pistol red dot you want on it.. LOL That would be easy to make on a 3D printer!!
I’d mount one to my middle finger. Finding I’m using more often these days
This is hilarious

Took Jedi's class back in Jan at Sig, one of the best, if not the best instructors, out there!
I thought we were running LPVOs on our EDC now
Perfect timing! I've been agonizing over whether to jump into the pistol red dot pool, given the cost & logistics of getting a new setup.
Once you go red dot you never go back. Extremely worth it
Just did it a few weeks ago myself. Best decision I’ve ever made for my pistol shooting.
Do it. Your eyes will thank you. Get trained. Worth it

GT: your videos are the best. The content is in depth and detailed. Thank you
Took the msp red dot program (2 day) a couple weeks ago. Changed my shooting forever. Highly recommend.

I'm a budget shooter and I always thought red dot was for rich people. Holosun has made it to where you can get that option for cheap and it's stupid durable. Ever since I got my red dot on my pistol it feels like I'm cheating. Easier to see your target and you can actually see what you are hitting
