  • Ever since visiting Baldy Billy Peak in April 2022, I've thought it would be a great place to see a sunrise and/or sunset. It's a short easyish walk, recently made more accessible by NSW National Parks. Saturday, August 17th was the monthly meeting of the Mullyang Bushcare group in the Tugalong section of Guula Ngurra National Park. I decided I'd head off early and do the roughly two kilometre walk from the Dirrang management trail car park. Setting off at 5:30am from the car park, I reached the base of Baly Billy by the time of first light. Once at the top, it was only 20 minutes before the sun peeked over the ridge to the east. On my way out in the dark I noticed lots of Emu scats. Previous visits had no signs of them before. As I was returning in the daylight I saw lots of tracks and then the birds!
