How to make a Longboard with Pallet wood - DIY

  • I had a lot of scrap pallet wood, some reclaimed plywood and some old longboard trucks so... I put them together in this DIY thing :) You just need a jigsaw and a belt sander! and a lot of glue and clamps of course.
    Next step, boosted longboard? haha I don't think so :)

    Dear viewer: the trucks are not backwards. just look at the kingpins and the axle :)

      no they aren't. you're thinking regular skateboard trucks, longboard trucks usually have a kingpin orientation like this

    Btw, I used spring washers for the nuts and will also add thread locker
    to make sure those aluminum nuts stay in place! don't worry :) enjoy!!

      To avoid that bending of the board I would recommend to build it your self from 0.5 or 1mm thick oak sheets and you should put about 8 or 10 layers. The board will be 10x stronger.

      skate boarder the boards in shops are made with a different type of wood... The way this board was made does not have concave and a nose or tail... Enjoy has a graphic like this.

    • @ItsWaldoOut
      @ItsWaldoOut 7 лет назад +8

      Lues only reason it would be "bad" is because he didn't layer wood that's 1/8th multiple times. For daily commute this board would work fine. For trucks and such a layered board would be more suited

    • @ItsWaldoOut
      @ItsWaldoOut 7 лет назад +3

      I said tricks but auto correct is fucking stupid

    • @kiwisadopted3388

      Lues why would it be bad.

    • @Naomi-rf1bl
      @Naomi-rf1bl 6 лет назад +1

      @@kiwisadopted3388 it could easily break because the wood is not layered. However if you don't go to crazy on it it should work fine. Most trick skateboards/longboards have 6-8 plys of wood

    the video is amazing and you are truly talented at crafting however longboards need to be able to withstand large amount of tension hence most longboards are made of many plies of strong wood for more flex

  • @RobbertvanHaaften
    @RobbertvanHaaften 7 лет назад +10

    Hey there man i'm an experienced longboarder, It was fun watching but watch out with those nuts on the axles man! if you don't use lock nuts (which you eventually used for the bolts after the deck adjustment gladly) the wheels are really prone to coming of since rotational force combined with side pressure wil cause the nut to undo itself. had this happend a couple of times with overused/old lock nuts on the axles.
    So watch out bro. if you need proper fitting axle nuts hit up any skateboard store nearby, it's an american size nut.

    • @Cactusworkshopchannel
      @Cactusworkshopchannel  7 лет назад

      Hi Robbert! thanks for the tip, I am counting on that, so far I've used spring washers (didn't bother to show it in the video) but yeah, I wan't to apply thread locker for extra safety. I do a lot of machinery and loose nuts are not good! :) I promise to be safe! :) thanks man!

    Pretty cool, I really like the inset baseplate hole, it lowers your center of gravity like mounting your trucks drop-through but on a top mount deck. Very few manufacturers are doing it, the only one I know of is Loaded on their chubby unicorn and blood slayer decks. Nice work
