At 0:42 you got the styles mixed up. First of all you show an entire temple followed by specific capitells. Those are switched. I had to say this. Now I watch further the video. Maybe I'll edit this.
1:40 How can you dare to make a video with the poverty of knowledge you have. That cathedral on the left is not Romanesque! It is gothic! And later on you continue to make crass mistakes! For your knowledge: The pointed arch of the windows is a gothic creation, and its most distinctive achievement!
That's a clear and concise explanation of all these architectural styles. But it's lacking in terms of architecture from other cultures ( China, India, etc.)
01:33 vs 03:13 vs 03:53 you use the San Vitale Basilica for Byzantine style. It is actually St Peters and it is 100% not Byzantine. And then you use it again in Renaissance. And in Baroque. get your shit together
I understand that these catagorizations are the accepted norm in acedemia, but regardless of the Western centric aspect which I understand although should be pointed out. I dislike how this division focuses on lavish estates and structures of the elites rather than what most people lived in.
'ALL Architecture Styles' proceeds to explain 0.1% of all architectureal styles and ignore 99.9% of the rest of them. Seriously, this ignores most architectural history while pretending it's comprehensive, that's really weird.
@@BrofessorStein (My only criticism, though.) Great video! Very informative while super concise. Definitely a need for concise here on RUclips IMO :D Wailri's dislike being neither valid or invalid, using lavish structures of elites is, at the very least, a trade-off. If I had to guess, that creative choice had everything to do with the fact that the examples are well known. Using something (most likely) familiar increases the likelihood that the new info will stick.
1:32 that's saint Peters basilica, not saint vitale. 1:42 that's the Canterbury cathedral, it is gothic, not romanesque. 1:54 that's the notre dame cathedral in Paris, it is not romanesque. Its gothic. 1:58 that's the milan cathedral, a prime example of architecture mixing gothic and renaissance styles. It has 0 ROMANESQUE FEATURES 2:02 again... Durham cathedral is gothic, not romanesque. 2:04 Santiago de compostela cathedral features much more baroque elements, making it not the best example for a romanesque building. 3:45 are you kidding me? First you use Santiago de compostela cathedral as an example for a romanesque building, and now you use it as the symbol of baroque architecture. 3:54 here you say that the palace of versailles is baroque, but at 4:26 you call it rococo. Which one is it?
wheres early period east asian (japanese/chinese/korean/etc) styles? or medieval? or the dense impoverished slums that you can find in different parts of the middle east and india that have a distinct style? or american dream style? or the modern neon-littered cluttered style of modern asian mega cities? or moroccan? or adobe/pueblo style of the S.W. U.S.? or old norse viking architecture? or the collegiate architecture that is seen in many of the ivy-league colleges (and some non-ivy) across the U.S. and likely some colleges in europe? or even the wooden saloons that define old western towns? the video is fine but this is clearly not _all_ architecture styles, which i why we clicked the video. title is misleading and should be changed.
You're 💯 right. We needed to exclude some styles, otherwise the video would've been too long to fit the format. We tried to cover a lot but it's impossible to show them all separately. Thanks for your feedback!

It's been 3 months. Guess those 99,9% forgotten styles where an exageration.
