@@rjkubr The source was from a car magazine years ago. I can't recall maybe Motor Trend.They put a stock L88 on a dyno against a Shelby Cobra which put out 485 hp. Then they had a drag race and the L88 just edged out the Shelby(L88 11.88 @121mph versus Shelby 12.1 @118)so yeah definitely over 500.
Too many remakes of these same video subjects... L88s usually dyno around 560 HP with iron heads and 530 HP with aluminum heads... aluminum bleeds off heat/power faster... although iron heads will heat soak and lose power if held at WOT too long... L88 was an actual option in Corvette sales literature and available with manual or automatic transmission and various rear end ratios... it was rated 5 HP less than top daily driver engines so unknowlegable rich kids wouldn't buy it...
It didn't have 560 hp. It was dyno'ed at 521.
I've heard it dyno'ed at up to 585. Don't know how true any of these claims are but certainly made over 500.
