    If you are still a beginner and this is your second video, you already have excellent technique. Using screwdrivers and tweezers is a delicate affair (you know this!) and a definite learned skill. Where do you learn to deal with itty-bitty things and use your ten fingers just right? Electronics folk tend to have this skill, so wherever you got it, well done.
    btw, that tool you want the name of - it's a crystal lift

      Thanks for the kind words, you hit the nail on the head, my years of instrumentation preps and soldering have definitely earned me some transferable skills! And appreciate the tool name 🙏 I’ll use this going forward 👍🏻

    Hi, another enjoyable video, I am a beginner as well, and I am taking Mark Lovick in a youtube course (watch training), and among some interesting learning, I share you some of the tips regarding lubrication techniques.
    "Using an oiler to draw oil from your oil pot, you will notice that you can control how much oil is drawn depending on whether you dip your oiler towards the center of the pot or the edge. It is much better for you to draw from the edge as this will aid you in not swamping a friction point with too much oil." An oil ring should be around 50% of the jewelry surface, never over 70%.

    Hi! Another tinkerer here. Good job with this watch.
    Because of how the balance was reacting when you first checked it I think that the problem that was not letting it run is that the balance had overbanked, that is when the impulse jewel gets to the wrong side of the pallet fork. Probably it has happend to you sometime when installing a balance, but it can also happen under some circumstances when the watch is dropped.
    The hairspring coils are not concentric and need to be adjusted, but that's a very delicate task.

    • @jsgwatches
      @jsgwatches  3 года назад +1

      The issue was exactly that! Well spotted 👌🏻 I believe the watch may have either been over wound or dropped at some point which caused this to happen. Thankfully we were able to get this one back up and running

    Used your video to service a P75 movement. VERY close in parts except for a few small ones. Also, I found a “washer” that I’m not sure where it goes now. Haha
    Thought maybe the crown wheel, but that already had its own.
    Thanks for making this because you really saved me from being stuck! Next time I’ll record myself taking it apart because pictures alone didn’t do the trick!

    To adjust the beat error and rate. Adjust the beat error to the best you can. This WILL affect the rate. Once the beat error is minimal THEN adjust the rate. This should work

    Talking about Houdini, he used to tinker with watches to relax, and said his favourite part was installing the pallet fork and balance wheel, and by all accounts he was quite good at it. In fact, he was an escapement artist.

      This one was a good feeling to get back up and running! Something therapeutic about bringing something back to its former glory. I’ve not done anything to this case yet, but plan to get a polishing wheel soon and will definitely give this watch a go over

      Thanks for the info Esteban 👌🏻 you’re right, this is a French Lorsa movement. When looking for info on the Helbros watches, it looks like Helbros used a number of different movements for their watches (French, German and Swiss made). This one was a nice little movement to work on though!

    Dont know if you are aware of that oiling the pallet exit Stone Can give you a better amplitude, a tiny amount on the Stone and flip the pallet three times and repeat till all of the teeth on the escape is oiled i use moebious 8200

    • @jsgwatches
      @jsgwatches  2 года назад

      This is definitely something I’m looking to do going forward, I have the Moebius 8200, but unable to find some fix o drop. I’ve found that without fix o drop, the 8200 tends to spread a little too far. Hoping to find some fix o drop or equivalent locally, importing hazardous materials is a nightmare/impossible 😩

    • @gwsjr1
      @gwsjr1 2 года назад +3

      M8200 is a grease. Isn't the recommended lub for the pallet stone a synthetic like Sytalube 9010 and good for any frequency watch?

    • @thegrassyknoll7792
      @thegrassyknoll7792 2 года назад +1

      @@gwsjr1 i think 9010 is too thin and will disperse away fast
      i have read the instruktion from moebius and im pretty sure that it says that 8200 is for the pallets, but i could be wrong

    • @jsgwatches
      @jsgwatches  2 года назад +1

      @@gwsjr1 a bit more research and Moebius 9415 is typically used for pallet stones. It’s a grease that’s designed to be viscose when stationary, but liquify when impacted. Clever stuff!
