- Welcome friends of world of warcraft! Havoc main kreem here with a little experiment on the rotation helper addon Hekili and how it plays in mythic plus. Honestly had fun playing with it and I think others in my stream enjoyed it aswell. if you wanna check out my stream btw / kreemdee there you go come say hi!
#funny #wow #gaming
These are my thinkings about hekili on havoc. unfortunately cannot say how good or bad it is for other classes and specs as i have not tried them with the addon. subscribe if you like the video
i tried using this shit when i started playing wow and holy moly it was the worst thing ive ever tried
@@adrianhorntvedt8151 xddd rip man
actually hekili is not that bad, you can even make your own rotations in it or use simcraft rotations. obv not for high lvl keys but when you twink till like 20s keys its fine for that
@@Jawn1337 truu
There is a option to have big CD's shown separately- also you get to choose which are those , and will be on your own when to "deliver" or follow the usual rotation.
Yeah alot of good settings in there:)
I’ve been using hekili for a while now and it does a great job. You just have to learn specific situations in fights of when not to follow it (for example the popping meta suggestions when a pack is about to die etc.) it will never be “perfect” but if you understand the situation you’re in and when to and when not to follow it, it is a great addon.
It’s worked well on every class I’ve used it I even use it on my disc priest. Of course I have to know when to ramp and use certain CDs but follow it for optimal damage throughout a fight.
Yeah honestly wasnt that bad. In hindsight i think the decision making aspect is there. I have no input on the healer side. Obviously like learning to work without it would be best but if its working for you then thats great!
@@kreemdee for sure! Also, I picked up DH for my mythic raid team for the first time this patch and have been following along with your videos. Been enjoying the content and picked up on a few new things through the videos so far. Was excited to see you try out hekili since I use it haha. Cheers man!
@@STLtimmz ah damn thats pretty cool! Dh feeling really nice this patch (gameplay too not just the damage) and i hope going into next xpac we can keep a similiar playstyle. But really cool that you enjoyed the content thanks alot!
I managed to achieve rank one sark heroic log with this add on as feral Druid. There are deffo more custom settings you can fiddle with to maximise performance but you do need to learn when to not follow along. It’s a great tool for someone like me that’s a dad gamer that plays multiple classes. I have also achieved 3k rating with it. The main issue is it doesn’t know when targets are about to die so you need to have planning for holding cooldowns and knowing when to do certain things.
Honestly Gigachad! I assume that as a dad gamer you might possibly have some more important things going on than getting really good at WoW so im glad there is a tool that can let you enjoy the game more! Maybe there could be an option where it would disable suggestions for major cooldowns if a target is below a certain threshhold?
@@kreemdeeI am a dad gamer but I’ve always been a super competitive wow player (at least in my head) So I would suggest that you are researching your class and still following guides and at least understanding your class and when told hold cooldowns etc. I believe there are options to split your cooldowns from the main bar and have an independent bar showing your major cooldowns etc. There are many good options included in the add on for instance AoE numbers so it swaps to AoE rotation depending on enemy unit count, if your class relies on target swapping for AoE it will suggest when to add dots to the next mob etc etc. You can also remove any spells you don’t want and it can even suggest when to use potions and such. It is a great tool in all honesty if you are looking to get a bit more serious but as you’ve stated it can just make you brain dead if you follow it aimlessly and you’ll never progress however with some fine tuning and good game/class knowledge you can for sure abuse this add on for great potential and ease the brain load of your rotation. Pro tip it’s mega op for enhance shaman priorities 🤣
@@dannycoburn8528 yeah understanding the classes you play is important and choosing to play outside of the addon aswell is crucial to not succumb into dps braining. One of my viewers on Twitch also told me that he is using hekili kinda as a weak aura to track cds and i think thats kinda smart. The customisation options were pretty overwhelming but that means theres alot to tinker with and thats pretty nice too
I've used it a fair bit for a variety of specs and classes. I'd say that there are several obvious limitations:
1. You have to use an ability that hits multiple enemies before it realises there are multiple enemies there, and even then it can't tell how many there are, so for example, abilities that require more than 3 enemies present to be useful you have to judge for yourself.
2. It doesn't take account that enemies might die soon (or move into execute range, etc.). Generally it assumes things won't change.
3. As many people have said, you should manage your major cooldowns yourself (for the reasons above).
4. It won't get you to multidot and things like that.
5. How good it is can sometimes depend on how much effort the maintainer for that spec has put in.
But I think that there exist some specs and situations where a human can't possibly calculate the optimal order of their abilities quickly enough, and for some of those hekili will solve it for you if you set it up appropriately.
Honestly those are kinda my thoughts, maybe adding a movement aspect to it aswell, like obviously the addon cant know if you have to move or stuff like that, but maybe in the future well got some giga AI addons that can calculate that or something. I now have learned that you have to use your own brain aswell, and that ppl are making it work. Was a good experiment!
1. The addon has a feature which detects and show number enemies in the bottom corner of each ability on the rotation bar.
2. The addon allows you to set a reactive rotation bar which changes from ST to AOE based on X amount of enemies you yourself specify.
Im not saying it will be 100% reliable as it isnt guaranteed, but in 99% of situations it works great.
3. Their is a feature where the addon can recommend changing your target based on amount of time until a target dies
4. Obviously knowing your cooldowns and learning your spec without needing to use this type of addon is 100% better in the long run, but for newer players this addon may be beneficial as a starting point to get comfortable with using their keybinds
1. You can adjust and enable certain things
2. It does better on some classes than others (spriest on hekli is trash)
3. You don't have to follow it blindly (e.g. use major CDs when pack is dying)
4. It's amazing if you aren't a gigachad and play MULTIPLE classes and specs. In s3 I played 12 classes and 24 specs and got purple logs in heroic and m+ up to 24s
Just use the addon plus brain a you will do fine
@@adamadamski1040 thank you man
I like Hekeli for learning the rotation is all, makes it easy
If you wanna learn it make sure you dont get too dependant on it!
@@kreemdee I disable it once I feel comfy with it, I don’t wanna be staring at squares on my screen 😂
@@Tinystrom i guess thats a pretty nice way to use it then!
the good thing about this addon is the training aspect, learning the rotation until you get some muscle memory
hell yeah man
Hekili will get you about 80% of the way there. You have to learn what to disable like fel glaive and trinkets that you know you want to hold onto for certain times.
Yeah honestly was surprised how good it was
Hekili is insane for enhancement shaman. Mostly proc based specs. Remove all cooldowns and track those with a WA, so you make decisions yourself. Rotationwise its op especially for enhancement. Made some 99 parses just strictly brainafk looking at hekili, both on larodar and igira
How do you feel like your focus is on other stuff while playing fights that have stuff going on?
@@kreemdee I mean I use hekili, it's basically slightly under the middle of my screen and i've pushed m+ title for the last two seasons in m+, for specs like havoc i use a keybind to turn off cds if the pack is low hp and i dont wanna meta
@@kreemdee I dont pay too much attention to it, its in the pherific eye visual for me.
On progress i'd say i would be able to go higher than i currently am, im rarely the one dying to mechanics.
I can also play my character without it, i do think that helps a lot, so my focus is not directly on that all the time.
Aside from that, i really cant see an issue running enhancement/outlaw rogue strictly through hekili
Both specs can do 99 parses or even rank 1s with this
@@danielstergaard6723 yeah being able to not rely on it for sure is a big deal when having to deal with mechanics or making your own decisions! Thanks for the replies:)
@@Copopoc damn thats really impressive!
Hekili is completely fine for most specs. It may not always be right, but it’s at least a good starting point if you don’t know a spec in and out.
I heard it was kinda bad for casters
@@kreemdeeIts not that bad on warlock but its complete garbage on Rogue
@@tobiyt3414 yeah heard that one about rogue aswell
to be fair on outlaw rogue the rotation is close to pixel perfect it assumes you press multiple keys at the same time sometimes and times even the kicks accordingly this is beyond great for learning first and for getting rid of action bars and weak auras and stuff to concentrate more on the game
Thanks for your input!
I feel this could be helpful for a lot of people and classes, but not fire mage, I gave it a try even though I'm very familiar with the class, and even though it does a proper rotation, it will complicate things on already button sensitive rotation
I think if you have your rotations down already, using this will just confuse you more than help
@@kreemdee Right, as you mentioned in the video, you keep looking at it and miss some more important things!
im a hekili abuser, really good once you set it up. it replaced most class weak auras for me and gotta admit I love playing glorified guitar hero. I turn on CD's leave it on auto so it changes prio to aoe or st on the fly and some clases have extra options.
I don't stare at it unless is glorified stand and hit time, usually I would be looking at my character and that way im not standing on shit also seeing plates and my party heathsbars. I also get audio que help from WA's/ sharedmedia causese and quazzi's plater profile.
Thats really interesting! You say you play it like guitar hero but dont stare at it, how do you feel your rotation going in those moments? Like do you still know what you are pressing?
@kreemdee muscle memory baby! same as playing your fav songs while looking at your homies or giga chad gamer singing and playing an instrument. I main WW this expa and play the other 12 classes to an extend thanks to this. im just a 2.5k io andy but since this patch kinda easy finally pushing 20s+ on main; my target is to get all my alts to 2k and pick up a tier pvp transmog piece from the rewards xD
edit: to clearly put it, i made the keybinds showing on the hekili really big, like matching size with the ability so you just kinda view/glance at the keys and also turn in suggested target swaps, only show 4 to 5 icons and made them semi transparent so they don't annoying the UI too much. as you said there are times you need to press a defensive or aoe instead bla bla but thats the way you also master your class/the game content. its not free but makes it significantly easier to know im about to have CDs at the end of a pack to save em an so on. the color on plates and audio ques make it ez to avoid unnecessary damages and help dispelling popping defensives and kicking the right moment when to hard cc etc etc the usual
@@sebastiangomezbotero7765 Its clearly working fine for you and Im all for doing stuff your own way! How long would you say on average it took you to "get into" new specs and like getting comfortable playing them with hekili?
I would check a guide like yours coppy talents figure out abilities vs a dummy, I use same keybinds for every spec like builders/spenders/defensifes cds... that like 10 minutes and you are ready to go if you know the dungeon/raid, but that's me being an alcoholic hekili abuser, id say it depends on the person and their goals, like mine is just not being a total carry on the 12s to 18s /raid lol. i swear I'm not another beast mastery BOT lol
@@sebastiangomezbotero7765 BM BOT LOL! Thats a good process, and it lets you familiarise yourself with the spec and maybe even predict what hekili is about to give as a rotation, which is pretty smart. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about it:)
Hekili is legit for a rotation helper addon. Better than the rest of them by miles imo.
Yeah was surprised how good it was
Love hekili been using it since bfa
Glad you loving it!
ya my only problem with hekili is that its not able to contextualize its skill queue... like suggesting i use meta on a trash group that's already about to die. other than that its a solid reference for learning your priorities in M+
Yeah maybe you could somehow config it to not suggest cds if your target has low enough hp or something
From my experience the usefulness of Hekili really depends on the class/spec you use it on. For my ret, absolutely perfect recommendations (excluding cooldown usage, I have to use my brain for that). On rogue and ele shaman it is next to useless. It suits well for the core rotation of classes which don't require the upkeep of debuffs and buffs, so i imagine something like fury warrior would be another good pick. For major cooldowns and trinkets you have to turn them off, since it pretty much always wants you to send them on CD regardless of the context.
I guess its kinda wierd then. I heard that rogue doesnt play that well on it aswell. Honestly kinda surprised that so many people use it, but im kinda learning that alot of the ones that use it arent just blindly looking at it but using their own brains aswell! This lil experiment gave a lot more to me than i imagined it would have:)
Depends, on outlaw it fit like a glove, literally the same recommendations as disc guides etc, only time you need to use your brain is with vanish if a pack is about to die in seconds, for assa is not recommended, sub is a 2 button spec, wtf you need heikili@@kreemdee
@@asasdsaasda understandable that it works with outlaw i guess, kinda cool that the rogue specs are so different from eachother:)
@@kreemdee heikili usually work with high apm classes, outlaw, warrior, dh, enha, ret, are spects that fit heikili really nice, really bad for tanks and casters tho, I feel the addon get to much hate, the only difference between heikili and my WA pack is that heikili recommend me when to use builders and fillers, WA packs are just fancy heikili in my book, that's why as a wa abuser I will never make fun of people that like heikili
@@asasdsaasda i can see how it can be bad for alot of casters and tanks especially(Melee confirmed easiest role zugzug). On dh the movement stuff was kinda bad at times but honestly if your goal is not pushing yourself in the game the addon is fine imo
!! Chibi chibi chaba chaba !!
!! dubi dubi daba daba !!
Yeah Hekili is pretty straightfoward but for sure isn't the best way to play the game correctly, I think that the player need to understand his class then start to improve while doing dungeons and raids! Btw, I saw that you are using an weak aura/plater config that does an exclamation if you are being cast, can you share it tho?
Yeah it should be this packet wago.io/_0klhzHfB
Ppl are stupid bro. They rage against Hekili, then load 20 WeakAuras to do the same thing. I use it for CD window timers, its amazing. On my SV Hunter I can fit max globals into my CA window, perfect every time. Same on my Shadow Priest with VEruption windows.
Imo understanding the rotation is way more important than just pressing the buttons. Since you sometimes need to adjust according to a situation, which hekili will never do as good as a human. It's also way more fun if you know what you're doing and why.
I do think performance wise obviously not relying on the addon is better, but the adjustment is a good one. Maybe later in the future there can be addons that can adjust, like some AI stuff but for now thats not the case forsure
A lot of good hekili players know their class inside and out. As said by myself before, expecting an addon to perform situational awareness for you is unrealistic (unless you are cheating with pixel bots). You use the tool in conjunction with your knowledge.
Just got this for my rogue because dpd just was t comint out now I’m hitting mid dpd I’m actually happy
Nice man glad you nailed it then!
Most free everbloom of your life
tbh not false. that was so free
I think Hekili is decent, I use it to learn basic stuff/muscle memory kinda? I think if you struggle to decide whether the addon is right to waste CD's on a pack with 10% n struggle to make decisions, I don't think thats the addons fault, it's most certainly a User Error.
Yeah if that works for you and its good then go for it
is there a way you can make it to where it dont display if you are not in combat
Im sure there is in the settings
Tbh I feel like 95% of pug players would improve by using this addon. Basically everyone playind like 22-24 and below lmao
Maybe man, it wasnt terrible but have to be careful to not get too dependant on it
It’s horrible. Worse than randomly hitting buttons
@@ryanroberts8249 nah it was alright
A doubt, how they keep their sights down even after moving
Glaive Tempest is better?
Its not set in stone which is better but its definitely easier to play imo

Yes, I think you should look at it if you do a follow up to this video, it has better “reactions” than Hek imo and works amazingly for most melee
