I love this song (haven't heard it for ages), but Amber's seated dance moves make every song even better!
I know. I get a kick out of it. The reaction she has when a sax kicks in (Rafferty's Baker Street was gold).
I get the same melting feeling when I hear it.
Haven’t heard it in over 30 years!
This gives you a happy feeling even though he’s singing about the sad things that people go through. Always fight for better days 😊
Even though he’s singing about rain!! Rain can be tranquil and calming ! Everything will be alright!
It's Raining Again = the British experience.
I love the little snippet of Roger Hodgson sitting on the bus holding his guitar as the lad enters. Nice touch. Supertramp is a wonderful group of amazing and talented musicians. Their music is such a treat!
All five members of Supertramp appear in the video:
John Helliwell - Street musician playing sax
Dougie Thomson - bus driver
Roger Hodgson - guitar playing bus passenger
Rick Davies - pickup redneck #1
Bob Siebenberg - pickup redneck #2
I THINK THERE'S A CAMEO OF EACH BAND MEMBER IN THE VIDEO.
Bus driver too was the Bass player. lol
You can’t go wrong with Supertramp - they’re brilliant. Child of Vision, Fool’s Overture (heavy one), Lord is it Mine, Rudy. Wait. School. Have you not done School????? That’s a Must!! 😮❤
Roger Hodgson's last hurrah with Supertramp. After this, he left the band solely in the hands of Rick Davies. Not coincidentally, it was also their last top 20 hit in the US. I love this song.
True, but they did have 2 other Top 40 Hits from is album.
His solo album, eye of the storm is really good.
@@leemiracle6840 "In The Eye Of The Storm" is a fantastic album. I heard there's a theory that many of the songs on "Breakfast In America" were an Indirect dialog between Rick and Roger, they were increasingly not seeing eye to eye musically by the end of the 70s.
Me too ❤. One of my most favourite Supertramp songs along with "Dreamer", "Give a little bit", "School", "The Logical Song", "Bl**dy well right" and so many more. Please, please Jay and Amber review "School" as well (the whole thing - it's a long song). Utterly fabulous. Poor Roger. I don't think he enjoyed his time in UK schools very much!
@@leemiracle6840 I've never listened to Roger Hodgson's solo work but it's a good suggestion. I'll check it out.
This song always makes me feel good, 🥰 even though the lyrics are dark. Contrasting happy melodies with darker lyrics seems to be a trend of the 80's.
If you think of prog rock, when you think of Super Tramp you'll understand the areas they were working in. Prog meaning a progression or an evolution of normal rock structure, bringing it into dreamlike / surreal/ jazz/ futuristic, etc. themes.
All Supertramp records are so beautifully crafted. From the writing, the vocals, the instruments to the production. All so well put together.
Nice symbolism with the umbrella -- one of Supertramp's icons.
One of my very favourites from Supertramp. Thanks for reacting to it.
This is probably my favorite song from supertramp it's so damn catchy
Supertramp is a super band. Love them ❤
you need to listen to this song Even in the Quietest Moments
Awwww, this sax at the very beginning!!🥰🥰
I went to a Supertramp concert in Toronto in the summer of 1978. They played for three consecutive nights, and averaged over 40,000 fans per concert. I met Roger Hodgson years later when he came in for an interview. A real gentleman.
Coming off of their previous smash album "Breakfast In America", this was a very good followup for Supertramp. Definitely one of the more underrated rock bands from that time period.
My 5 favorite Supertramp songs
1. Child of Vision
2. Child of Vision
3. Child of Vision
4. Child of Vision
5. Tie between
Child of Vision
And
Child of Vision
You forgot to mention "Child Of Vision". lol I agree, it's a great song.
Who yeah think you're fooling.
I've just seen one of the Righteous Brothers singing "Summertime" Wow Wow Wow..
"My kind of lady" is another great song of Supertramp
Well his voice is unmistakable! This one came out in 1982! Definitely one of my favorite song from them.
In order of appearence: John Helliwell (saxophone in the street opening), Dougie Thomson (bass, the buss driver), Roger Hodgson (guitars, keyborards and vocals, with the guitar in the bus) and the two guys in the truck are Bob Siebemberg (drums, on the wheel) and Rick Daivies (besides him).
Oh Crap, I caught Dougie Thomson the Bus driver, and Roger Hodgson with guitar on the bus, but missed John Helliwell Bob Sieberberg and Rick Davies. Dang!! got to go back and watch it again!!! Thanks for that Sergio!!!
This is my favourite 1980's Supertramp album along with "Breakfast In America". This song features John Helliwell's flawless saxophone. The play out solo is fantastic. I wish it was longer. "Old Brown Shoes" and "My Kinda Lady" are also standout tracks in this album!
Agree.. Love "Cest la Bonne"
'Hide in Your Shell' is a great Supertramp song. It's a little long, but so worth it!
Yes! I hope they react to that song. Regards from Chile.
One of my ALL TIME favourites ever.
Love it so much
Don't Leave Me Now was my favourite song on this album. Too often forgotten. Amber would love the horns...
" Don't leave me now" is such a beautiful song ! I would put it in the category of Alan Parsons song titled "Old and Wise" they're very similar in their meaning and message !
When I saw Roger in concert in 2019, he did all the Supertramp hits, but this is the one that had the Royal Albert Hall audience up on its feet and singing along.
My ex and I, this was our song, often played on rainy campsites across the UK, because you have to laugh, don't you?
Been asking for this for ages, thank you!
The RCH was such a terrible venue. I saw him there and felt like we were in a big shed. The Palladium concerts were way way better.
Do you mean RAH? Yes it can seem a bit big and the sight lines are terrible. It's designed for the audience to be looking at things in the centre, not at one end.
I saw Mark Knopfler at the Albert Hall, hardly caught a glimpse because of things and people in the way. Saw him a couple of days later at the O2 - further away but a much better view. Interestingly he came on, looked around and said, 'This is a big old shed, isn't it?'
Great react. Supertramp is amazing. Very good albums with great songs
I think this is your seventh Supertramp song, and all have been great. You've covered almost all of their songs to hit the Top 40 (with the exception of "Dreamer (Live)", "My Kind of Lady", and "Cannonball". I haven't delved enough into their albums to recommend much beyond that, but I'm sure some of my fellow fans will be happy to do so.
Yes! More Supertramp!!!Logical song was the gateway reaction video that drew me in to your channel in the first place.
Best concert I went to!! “School” has an awesome piano riff!!🤘🔥
I keep recommending School and hope that one day they will get to it !!
I adore this song!
I loved that at the end of the song they recited the old rhyme " its raining its pouring the old man is snoring etc " although this just gave away my age !😂
and at the end, and in the end, it rains on everyone! all of us are in that boat.
Cash Box said it is "vintage Supertramp with all of the elements that have made the group’s sound so distinctive" and that it is "bouncy and hook-laden."
The song debuted at No. 31 on 30 October 1982 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the second highest debut on that chart for all of 1982 (bested only by "Ebony and Ivory" at No. 29 on 10 April 1982), but it only peaked at No. 11, making it one of the few songs to enter the chart in the Top 40 but not reach the Top 10.
The end of the song incorporates the old nursery rhyme "It's Raining, It's Pouring".
(Wikipedia)
Supertramp "It's Raining Again" = When Life Gives You Lemons,, Instead Of Sitting There Sour & Sad About It,, You Make The Best Lemonade You Can.
It is that old adage that says
" when it rains it pours ". when one thing goes wrong, that is normal but then, once in a while, everything goes wrong, in one day, or one thing after another day, and it's, oh, boy , enough already! those bad days do come up,,,,,,then, sun comes out.
Listened to it a thousand times! One of my alltime favorite songs but never knew it was by supertramp
"My Kind of Lady" from the same album also has a great saxophone solo, even better I think.
Couldn't be more thrilled to hear you are "obsessed" with Supertramp, you get an A++ for your music appreciation skills! Listen to "School" next If you want to take your next Supertramp journey (comment from 11 months ago)
Well you have covered quite a few SuperTramp now. Now for Fools Overture, the masterpiece which will blow your mind’s
I get the feeling both the songs end and the videos implies he ended up in a coma, ("he bumped his head and he couldn't get up in the morning") but now in dreamland everything is fine. And he stays there. ("the old man is snoring")
The video also turns from albeit still dreamlike to completely surrealistic the last few moments.
Bit like the other side of the glass version to Smiths - "Girlfriend in a coma" perhaps? :)
That voice should be a clear indication that this is Supertramp..🤘😎
You guys would really like Supertramp “School” with copious piano!
Love it when you do supetramp my mums fav band she would be dancing with you miss her x
'Rudy" would be another side of Supertramp for you to explore. ☮💚🎶
The woman who hands the dude the umbrella is the same woman who appears on the Breakfast in America album cover as the Statue of Liberty.
The first time I heard this song, I thought "I never need to hear this song again", yet here it is popping up in my life. 😂
Loved this song back in the 80's. Super Tramp was a great band. Memories.
This is one of Supertramp's few songs they didn't overplay to death. I love it!
Jay and Amber? the Greyhound bus driver was the Bass player and the guy on the bus across from the guy playing the guitar was Roger Hodgson, the singer of this song. Cool!!
great song, great band
One of our great “happy” beat songs❤da da da da da da!!😊😊
The video was directed by Russell Mulcahy, who directed the music videos "Hungry Like the Wolf" by Duran Duran, "Young Turks" by Rod Stewart, "Gypsy" by Fleetwood Mac as well as videos for Elton John, Billy Joel and Queen.
Trust that someone is always going to hand you an umbrella... to shelter from the rain. As Jay says : no matter if you fall, just get back up and go for it. One of their "Lighter" songs, musically. Can't wait till you get into their more successful hits "School", "Crime of The Century", "Fool's Overture", and "From Now On". Cheers from Montreal...
Love this song. Thank you for doing another Supertramp reaction.
Another good song by supertramp is child of vision.
THIS SONG WAS A BIG HIT BACK IN THOSE DAYS!
Supertramp is diverse, but simple to spot. If a song makes you feel happy for no apparent reason, it’s very likely Supertramp.
My favorite group ..thanks 🙂
Love Roger's cameo in this!
I apologize for the comments on your other Supertramp video. You had seen this already. This was SOOO huge for me in the fall of '82!!
And that's your typical MTV video. The only thing missing is slow motion high-heel shoe smashing the champagne glass.
I have a concert of theirs on Blu-ray, and it's my favorite Concert Blue-ray!
I don't think I've ever heard this and I love Supertramp; nice. Interesting sounds different from traditional Supertramp.
Although it has dark lyrics it's a very uplifting song.
From their 1982 album "Famous Last Word", this is a bouncy, hook laden great tune by SuperTramp, with their great presentation of instruments in their tradition. The last sentence features the nursery rhyme "It's raining, It's pouring".
Always entertaining. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️ ❤️ 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Loved this song.
I am still hoping one day to hear Roger Hodgson from Supertramp and Geddy Lee from Rush sing together.....I think they woukd sound killer together.....
Peace and love to all from your friendly neighbor from the north...
🙏❤️😎🇨🇦
Very similar voices. I see your point.
OMG yes! I've never put the two together before but you are absolutely correct, their voices would be amazing together!
@@MaggieValera Nice when someone gets me....Cheers Maggie...🥂😊
@@garryleblanc4002Backatcha! 🍻
Amber is joy!
Did y'all notice at the very end of this song, children sang a famous nursery rhyme - "It's Raining, It's Pouring..." by 'Mother Goose'
Jay & Amber, you'll love their song "Breakfast In America"!!!
Crime of the Century is also a very good album.
Hope the next Supertramp song you choose to react to is School....✌️❤️🙏😎🇨🇦
Always loved this 'different' side of Supertramp. It's a fun and pleasant song.... for sure one of their most recognizeable songs (now that you've heard it!). Great Reaction Guys!
Roger was an unknown legend by most music listeners. The arsenal of songs he put together for this band was eyepopping at the time. Logical Song will always and forever be in my personal top-100 along with School. Legendary songs that will be discussed over time as more pundits appreciate the efforts made to create them.
The marque saying "Famous Last Words" is the name of the album.
You need to do Supertramp's "School". Their finest track IMHO.
Listen to "Even in the quietest moments" if you haven't already. Make sure it's the studio version!!!
I've always loved the song even when I was little. It's definitely dark but I still love it.
"Downstream" and "From now on" are under rated Supertramp songs IMO.
I love how the drive-in movie the guy is watching alone, is of himself later in the future kissing his partner
Don't you know that there is an album called "Crisis? What Crisis?", where there are monumental songs like "Just A Normal Day", "Another Man's Woman", the great "Poor Boy" or "Two Of Us", this album is a masterpiece at a time when Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies had an excellent creativity. Saludos
I went to sleep in my Supertramp t-shirt...
...and woke up Just Another Nervous Wreck...
Always liked this song. Great message
This one and "Dreamer" are my favourite Supertramp songs. 🎵🎼🎙
Happy music always was 🙂
SUPERB CHOICE 🍾
Is there a regular Supertramp? Seems like every song is a different Supertramp. That's what makes them very special.
Have listened to SUPERTRAMP since my teens in the early seventies and absolutely love their music still, to me they just made beautiful music.
So many memories riding greyhound
The lady who gives him the umbrella is the woman on the cover of their album "Breakfast in America".
good song. Always a great one
My fav Supertramp song ❤☺ This is early 80s Supertramp. All the other songs by them ya'll did are 70s
Have you all listen to Breakfast in America? If not that should be your next Supertramp song.
One thing that is unique about super tramp is their use of sax as well as unique instruments like the melodeon or harmonium. I’ve heard canastas and harmonicas. Instruments not typical in top 20 music. Just gotta love supertramp
2 great songs by them. Hide In Your Shell off Crime Of The Century album. And Child Of Vision off the Breakfast In America album.
love this tune and video
Anything by Supertramp is superb. Still hoping and waiting for SCHOOL off their "Crime of the Century" album. You'll love it!
Rob Squad may be too young but I always loved the kids nursery rhyme at the end.
I love it!..its so refreshing!..it gives so much hope which we so need today!
My favorite by super tramp
Notice at the end that it was raining on everyone...
You really need to listen to "School"! Seriously awesome song! ✌🇨🇦
Saw my only Supertramp concert on this tour. Best opening to a show I have ever seen, and a top 5 concert. Great use/integration of video and visuals. The opening featured the cover of the album with the tightrope, walker and scissors. 60 seconds into the show I turned to my friend and said I could leave satisfied I got my money's worth right then (but of course we weren't leaving). Their live album "Paris" is very strong and worth checking out, if not for the channel, for yourselves. Have a great day!
