  • I couldn’t believe how big of a difference the new brakes made! Compared to my first video measuring the Avid’s stopping power, today was impressive!

    Brian, Thanks for content you produce with the Avid. Starting my Avid project now down in St.Augustine. Repower to the Rotax 912 and new fabric, so just a bit to do before I start bugging you to take me along to one of your sand bar / beach adventures.

      Thanks Richard! I’d like to show you around our playground. Luckily you’re not too far away 😎. Good luck with the Avid- which model do you have?

      She the MKIV. When I bought it came with a Rev Master 2100 “VW” motor. Way too heavy! 30 pounds of lead in the tail.
      Did you ever settle on a tail wheel? I’ve read so many articles on how much a deference the proper tail wheel makes on ground handling.😢

      Do you use the flapperons? On my speed wing MK4, they are useless. Full flapperons and the ailerons become ineffective.

      I’m still working on it. I have two that I want to try… just have to get my hands on them and get some time to experiment! I’ll let yall know how that goes.

      I do use flapperons. When I get down to flow flight, they allow me a couple more MPH before stall. It’s not a ton, but every bit helps.

    If you don't have the matco Intensifiers in there yet you should get them too. Great cheap upgrade.

      I have thought about it. I feel like I’m getting close to having “too much” brakes…. As crazy as that sounds. In the right speed range I can get too heavy on brakes and the tail wants to come over. 🤷‍♂️

    To help with your gear leg bouncing, Add a gear leg stiffener. On rod gear legs hard wood is used. Oak works well you can carve it to give an airfoil shape and tape it to the gear legs. If you don't like it you can then just remove it!

      Good tip 👍. As most people probably do, I have considered the acme aero solution… but it’s hard to justify throwing that much money at it when it’s working pretty well now.

    How much does the Jabiru weigh fully installed with exhaust and everything? What’s your empty weight?

      Thanks a lot! I’m proud of that one. It’s easy to get sucked into the STOL competition numbers, but I think we have to remember those planes are flying with just enough fuel to keep the engine running and all the practical weight taken out.

      I have the 85hp Jabiru 2200. I really like its performance in this light of an aircraft.

    Please don’t ever upgrade to a much nicer, fancier higher dollar plane. It is so awesome to see someone having the time of his life out with his (not so high dollar). I mean no disrespect. It just inspires guys like me.

    • @OneAV8
      @OneAV8  4 месяца назад +1

      Don’t worry my friend, I don’t have the budget to upgrade to a high dollar plane 😂. I wouldn’t mind upgrading to a MK4 or Kitfox 4 to have some leg room, but it’ll always be budget friendly for folks like us 👍.

    God Almighty said :
    * Know that the life of this world is only play and amusement, pomp and
    mutual boasting among you, and rivalry in respect of wealth and children,
    as the likeness of vegetation after rain, thereof the growth is pleasing to tiller;
    afterwards it dries up and you see it turning yellow; then it becomes straw.
    But in the Hereafter (there is) a severe torment (for the disbelievers),
    and (there is) Forgiveness from God and (His) Good Pleasure (for the
    believers), whereas the life of this world is only a deceiving enjoyment.*
