I had only been watching the Witcher for 1 episode, when I realised that I had to have the soundtrack. I knew nothing about Sona or Giona work , but was blown away by the Music. Will now have to check out their other work. The breakdowns are a fascinating look into this amazing score.

One of my FAVORITE
Ok guys, look at it this way. Sonya is a pianist and composer. The way her mind thinks is as she is playing she see the score also. So in doing the soundtrack as she plays or is at the mike Sonya is seeing the score of what has been written, in her head. Hands will move as an after thought because of what see is doing. This is a sign of a true composer. It's that she is only trying to convey to us as to what she is doing. Next time Sonya.

Im kinda getting Ennio Morricones Spaghetti western style vibe here, that kinda left the americana style that was heavely borrowed from Aaron Copland. Ok I aint saying this sounds like Morricone, im just meaning that they invented a different style for something that usually is made with huge hollywood Orchestra and probably would have a more classical sound. This is a really cool sound almost like the musically approach in Battlestar Galacticas reboot that was heavely rooted in greek musical style while the older Stu Philips variant was classical more Star Wars take of the music. give this thumbs up. :-)
Totally this. I was sad that Sonya & Giona didn’t compose the score for season 2, and that the producers went with a more classic orchestral fantasy score. It really didn’t land the same way, and in season 1 the score felt like a character in the show in its own right!
Speaking of Battlestar Galactica, Bear McCreary is composing the score for Blood Origin (the prequel) which I’m really excited about. He’s used the Hurdy Gurdy a lot (Black Sails and more) so we’ll get it back in the Witcher universe.
