My mother today had a heart surgery. She's Italian and her last name is Crespi exactly like that Italian material that you used for the heel. I've just talked with the surgeon who performed the operation and first thing that I see it's her name here. I take it as a good sign for her delicate post surgery recovery. Remarkable.

I’ve been binging your channel it’s great- you’re like if Travis Willingham & Elliot Stabler fused together and became cobbler Bob Ross (all compliments). I enjoy your attention to detail / instruction, silliness, and how down your earth you are. It’s been incredibly value to me (discovered during pandemic) to watch other (more knowledgeable/specialized) people work while I work. It takes away the void and is motivating while downloading so much new info. And you get this great value out of this on YT that is old school, that’s we’re losing-it’s like serial binge apprenticing without needing an attention span or commitment 😂

Flats look simple, but finding a pair that fits perfectly is a challenge. So, especially when they are gorgeous like these, I’m sure the lady will be thanking you every morning when she steps into her new but still perfectly fitting shoes.

Hi Steve, I looked up the price of these shoes 'Varina Ballet Flat' and they cost a cool £515! Sure is a case of style over substance. Men's shoes seem on the whole to be much better made. Still, you made them look much better than they did before - bravo.

Beautiful job on beautiful shoes, and even though the soles had holes and the toes had some typical nicks, you can tell by looking at the inside that the owner took good care of them. Can't remember seeing a screw holding the heel in place on men's shoes. I know most of your work involves men's shoes, but I really enjoy when you feature women's shoes. Would love to see you work your magic on a pair of ladies boots!

Steve, the part about using the leather smartly. You are 100% right, besides the fact that an animal died to provide that hide and, as a craftsman, you need to respect that, it’s just good business.
My friend told me story about a fish market he worked at part time as a kid and up through his late 20’s even. The old man own the market and used every last bit, bones to make stock, eyeballs, everything… he was in business a long time. Then the son took over, he just cut the loins and filet from the fish and chucked the rest. Needless to say that market ain’t around anymore… I’ll never forget that story. You reminded me of that and you are doing your father proud continuing his legacy in a smart and humble way. Cheers!

The stuff you have use up for ever repair had to be bought and paid for by you. You a chunk of leather (yes a technical term) then of course you are going to make sure waste is kept to a minimum. Another good repair Steve. Great video great job.
