  • Here is a landing in our Gulfstream G-IV at Farmingdale Republic Airport. The winds were gusting to 27 knots, so it was a little bit challenging, but I got it done...I hope you enjoy!

    Not sure why the FO is getting some negative comments, I thought he was extremely professional, clear and very supportive. Good job 👍. As for Shawn, cool as a cucumber 🥒

      The Pilot not flying is getting negative comments because the people making those comments have no idea as to what they are talking about. No idea.

      FO is very supportive but I think he suffers from Van Horton's Syndrome (voice immodulation disorder..see Will Ferrell SNL) which makes him kinda hard to listen to until ur used to it..great job Sean and FO!!

    Very windy and bumpy on final. Northeast weather can be so demanding. Great to see how much pilot intervention is required in spite of ATC. They can leave you high and dry so you need to know where you are and how to continue without bumping into someone or something else. Long Island is one thing, can't imagine being stranded at night in Colorado! Thanks for another great video.

      Strange attitude to have because the assumption is the controller made a mistake. If everyone flying into the NY metro flew the descent profile they wanted, it would be disorderly. I'm familiar with that sector at ZNY and you were kept high for a reason. However, where you were vectored for the visual to runway 1 was crappy. If you don't want to use speed brakes and can't make a restriction just say something instead of stewing about it. Love you videos!

    • @CAPFlyer
      @CAPFlyer 4 года назад +15

      @@HWVISP89 Sorry, but I don't buy that. He was given the crossing restriction late. There is no reason for them to have needed in excess of 3000 FPM descent on an ATC assignment. It also doesn't help that he was also re-routed off the STAR to apparently follow J121 for whatever reason (it appears they were originally on the CAMRN4 based on the discussion about the FMS problems) which only increases the workload for ATC and makes something like this more likely. Yes, he can say "unable", but ATC also should have known that was asking a lot and said something instead of just giving the restriction as if it wasn't asking extra. That is what the complaint was about - ATC leaving their issues on pilots to either take or not instead of at least acknowledging they made a mistake or that there was an issue.

    • @19brandon66
      @19brandon66 4 года назад +8

      ATC called the tower and "owned it." A bit of "stewing" was appropriate...

    First, I love these videos. Second, people need to realize Jon isn't around anymore. That was another time. Now there are new people who may or may not want to be involved with being on video. Third, Shaun looks to be more busy. With Pres. 69 they seemed to have alot of downtime to do things, and an empty cabin at times. Fourth , when people get used to someone or a certain procedure and that changes, tjey have a hard time adjusting or just won't. Jon and Shaun had a long time together. These new people or better Shaun being the new guy have to get used to each other. Maybe the company wants the FO to be telling info. Maybe Shaun liked the guy telling him that info so he could fly the plane and not worry about all the "other crap". People are very quick to judge here. And remember, If the FO doesn't want the camara in there, it probably would be gone. Yes there was a few issues that went on here. But ya have to harp on a guy about his hair? Maybe it's time I take a break from viewing. Everyone is just getting mean and hateful. The comments are ruining the video.

      I really appreciate your thoughts and comments here. I have to agree that many people can be quite petty in the comments and it does get old after a while.

    • @jeffr532

      Shaun, I hope you realize there are a lot of people viewing your videos that don't give a rat's behind about hair styles, who the FO sounds like, or how much chatter goes on between the two people who are responsible for the aircraft. At the end of the day; the only thing that truly matters is the safety of the passengers and crew. Some who share the cockpit and controls may want/need more communication. Others may not. Far be it from me or anyone else to judge which way is better. Those who are critical should take a hard look at their own successes and shortcomings in life instead of trying to prove their way is the best way.

    I thought the FO did a fantastic job. There was a lot to stay on top of. I noticed he asked a lot of "do you want..." so I'm thinking the cohesiveness is lacking in this team, for now, but I liked the way he kept the pilot up to date even if it meant reminders; staying in the zone. They'll get it figured out in the post-flight debrief.

    Nice landing!! Seeing that turbulence reminded me a bit of coming back from northern Wisconsin with my brother and one of my older sisters. We were in a Cessna (not sure the model) and we came into some rain halfway back. (We did Janesville to Shawano and back) I will NEVER forget the force of being battered by the winds. I did an unwilling backbend over the back seat when the plane dropped on one wave over Lake Koshonong! The three of us call that "The Bonding Experience". My brother had never been in that kind of turbulence before. I felt he handled it really well. It wasn't until we landed and he looked up, shaking his fist at the sky and saying "I beat ya!" that we found out that was his first experience with it! Not sure if it was moderate or what, but I hope I never experience that again! While I actually felt safe with my brother at the controls, my stomach wasn't too keen on the experience. Not too much later, the three of us went up again on a short trip to Madison in a sort of "get back on the horse" type of thing. Much better flight that time!
