    I think I have a pretty solid idea connecting Nidorino and Nidorina's Moon Rock evolutions to space. Rocks from the moon are radioactive irl and Nidoking and Nidoqueen are both inspired by the concept of kaiju. Kaiju are often regular animals mutated into monsters after being exposed to radiation such as toxic waste, a meteorite from space, or some form of alien technology. This could be seen as mimicking the origin story of a typical kaiju backstory: An animal is exposed to a mysterious rock from outer space that transforms it into a giant monster!

      Yeah, that honestly makes sense. I have to wonder if that's the case for all of the Moonstone Pokemon not stated to come from space...

    Thanks for making this. Was wanting this type of video since I first started getting into RUclips in 2009

      I've been wanting stuff like this for a long time too... Hence why I made the series lol. I got started on the Internet with Zelda timeline theorizing around 2010, so I love this kind of stuff. Glad you're enjoying it!

    That "Queen of Galar" line alone makes this video a win.

    The Nido lines are both based on Rabbits, and possibly even the Bunnicorn enemies from Dragon Quest.

      I haven't played much Dragon Quest yet (just the first one really), but with how big DQ is out there, as well as Creatures' history with DQ-inspired games (namely Mother), I would actually be shocked if that weren't an intentional reference. Thanks for bringing it up!

    You say the Nidorans and Jigglypuff can only be found on route 3, but that’s not true. In fact, for the Nidorans, in the first two generations, they aren’t on route 3 at all. But even in gen 3, they can also be found in the Safari Zone. Jigglypuff can also be found on multiple routes in Yellow (and possibly others).
    Furthermore, I don’t think it’s fair to say that Red’s canon starter is Pikachu. In every game but Let’s Go!, he specifically has all four starters so that any of them could be his starters. I know you’re probably assuming that Pikachu is the starter because it has the highest level, but I don’t think the levels can be considered canon since they’re at a lower level in later generations despite taking place around a decade after gen 2.

    • @SpoilerGoblin
      @SpoilerGoblin  3 месяца назад

      The Safari Zone is established to be a curated hunting ground, full of harder to find Pokémon. Yellow did switch up the routes a lot, mostly to match the anime, and due to its inconsistency with other games both before and after, I dismissed those locations.
      My reasoning for Pikachu was not only because he’s the highest level Pokémon, but also because his team reflects one that only really works with a game where all three main starters are available to him.
      Yellow is weird to parse honestly. On one hand, it’s clearly based on anime canon, but on the other, the games clearly like calling back to it. Writing it out now, I recognize the inconsistency with the way I approach the game. It’s probably worth considering, since “a version of FRLG except with the starter situation from Yellow” just… doesn’t make sense. I guess if it isn’t that, I’d assume his starter is Venusaur, due to his appearance in the Let’s Go games.

      It would be a cool series to explore. I'd enjoy watching it, honestly. Giovanni was one of my favorite leaders. They were never clear whether he had the same or similar ability as Yellow or Lance. I always wondered it.

    In Japan, Blue Oak’s name is Green Ōkido

    • @SpoilerGoblin
      @SpoilerGoblin  6 месяцев назад

      Yeah. He was named Blue in the west because we were introduced to the franchise with Red and Blue, but since Japan had Red and Green, that's the name he kept out there.
      Though actually, in the original games, both Red and Blue were given names depending on which game you were playing. In Green version, the player character was Green and the rival was Red. To my knowledge, the Japanese names were codified in Gold & Silver.

    Hah! You feel old? I was in junior high when Pokemon came out. Not that it's a contest or anything.
    Yeah, it's funny how Pokemon now has spit time lines and alternate dimensions, but at least Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire set that plot point up. So it isn't so much confusing as it is convoluted.
    Also, I will always call Blue Oak, Green Oak. Sorry, I know we westerners call him Blue cause of how the games were introduced, but considering how he is shown wearing green all the time in the more recent games it just comes off as super confusing to call him Blue. Especially after that female character, Green, was introduced in the Let's Go games as she wears blue. lol

      I'm going to stick with the official localizations for my videos, but honestly, that's a fair statement. The character is definitely intended to have that name, though I think the difference in names is a fun localization detail.
      And yes, Green's Japanese name is Blue. So we'll file that alongside other funny translation situations like Lance, of Fire Emblem's Alondite and Ettard.

  • @LegendStormcrow
    @LegendStormcrow 6 месяцев назад

    Green is actually based off the same beta character that Leaf is. A female playable character was always intended. They lacked the storage.
    I guess it would be a beta Blue, since the Japanese already have a Green

    There is literally zero evidence that Team Rocket is after Mewtwo in the games. It's all just a fan theory.

    • @SpoilerGoblin
      @SpoilerGoblin  6 месяцев назад

      I would've agreed, if it weren't for Rainbow Rocket. Giovanni has a Mewtwo in a world where he completed his goal. It seems to be a statement of confirmation in my opinion.

    • @SpoilerGoblin
      @SpoilerGoblin  6 месяцев назад +2

      It IS an alternate universe, but the implication is that the villains had the same goals and the only difference is that they succeeded. To me, that says Mewtwo was part of his plan. Even if that wasn't intended in 1996, it was retconned in come 2017.

      @@SpoilerGoblin To me, it's just unproven speculation. The AU Giovanni could've simply learned about Mewtwo later.

    • @SpoilerGoblin
      @SpoilerGoblin  6 месяцев назад +1

      It's possible, and I can see how reasonable minds could differ on that front. I just feel like that's the intended implication of Mewtwo's use, even if it's true that it isn't said in as many words.

      While the Japanese region is pronounced Kahn-toe, but the anime pronounces the Pokemon region Can-toe, so as far as I can tell, that's the official pronunciation of the Pokemon region, even if it's incorrect to the Japanese.
      I should've spent a little more time to pronounce the real-life location correctly, though I only said its name a handful of times.
