Never position bike to take a direct hit from a car....ever. You position your bike to always be to area right or left to look down a car. A car should be able to pull up next to you.
Love the vids and topics of discussion Uncle Cruza! I've taken and passed the MSF course and have 152 miles under my belt so far. I love the freedom and joys the bike gives me. Riding defensively definitely is the way to go and make sure I get to ride over and over again until I can't!
Great video! Life has risks no matter what you do or wherever one goes. When it comes to anything risky, educate yourself and take precautions. Riding a motorcycle requires much more education than driving a car. One must become more defensive in the mindset. Take rider classes and watch videos like this to keep you in the mindset of safety first. Use common sense such as wearing gear to protect you and riding only motorcycles that complement your skill level. If you are a new street rider you should not be riding anything over 400cc IMO. Making mistakes on a motorcycle can cost you your life. My father when he was young was in a really bad motorcycle accident. He almost lost his leg and he was in the hospital for 6 months and regular doctor visits for a long time after. Growing up and seeing his leg from the accident was a real eye opener. He loved motorcycles and went right back to riding when he was able riding Hondas, Harleys and then going to Honda Goldwings until he passed away. Enjoy riding but stay educated, drive defensive and use good common sense to live a good long life.
Been driving motorcycles for 20 years. Motorcycles are dangerous as phwck. As soon as you wise up, you change your f00la55 mindset and drive conservatively, and watch every Mcrider and Motojitsu video you can to upgrade your skills. You want to advance your safety course type skills, but you want to always avoid ever putting yourself in a situation where you have to put them to the test. I've come up with three rules from watching thousands of YT motorcycle crash videos that nail in every case, why they crashed. One, you're driving too fast; almost every crash video I watch could of been prevented if the person had slowed down. Two, expand the follow distance between you and every other thing at all times to as much as possible. If it's not there, you can't hit it, and it can't hit you. In a car where you would follow 5 car lengths behind, on a motorcycle, expand it to 50. And keep expanding it. Three, you're invisible to everyone, nobody can see you. Don't drive a motorcycle, like you drive a car, and yet most motorcyclists do. You're not in a car. Nobody can see you. If suddenly you experience road rage and want to pick a fight with a car, you broke one or most likely all of those rules. if you want to pick a fight with a car you feel slighted you, you're going to lose. You are the prey out there. Even if you were legally in the right, as a defensive driver on an unprotected vehicle, you were in the wrong because your mindset was wrong, and you are going to pay in pain for it.
Most people when they hop on a bike, they think alright! Lets go out for a ride and have some fun. What you need to be thinking instead is... okay... I'm about to enter the Tina Turner thunderdome unpredictable jungle arena again, full of tigers and cougars and lions that are going to come at me, and I'm the lone gazelle in the jungle. If I want to get through this, I need to be watching everywhere, and I want to be chosing the routes to keep myself as far away from these things that can bite me. The less predators I have to navigate the better, and when I do run into them, I don't know if they are hungry or not... I need to steer a wide berth around them. If you were a gazelle you wouldn't lane split dash between two rows of hungry tigers would you. So why are you doing it on a motorcycle. You wouldn't pull up to a tiger at a stop light, and let another tiger pull up behind you, and other tigers box you in on all sides would you? Then why are you doing it on a motorcycle. LOL.
You really can't compare motorcycles to cars becuase most riders don't wear gear, lack the riding skills for the bike they own, so statistics show fatalities and injuries are much higher on a bike vs a car. Cars have crumple zones, seat belts, air bags, ect. you get in and go. Motorcycle riders think you can do the same thing on a bike and so they don't wear gear, put headsets in their helmet, ride around in their own little world like they are in a car, then get in an accident and get killed and motorcycles get the blame. The rider is never blamed for riding in flip flops, tank top, dew rag, and shorts. Would the rider have died if they would have been in gear?
Not quite. Motorcycles are more dangerous IF you are involved in an accident. The skill that needs to be learnt is to ride in a manner that avoids the accident in the first place. The people you see generally dont ride in a way that minimises that risk.
Watching at about 5:50 you did a fantastic job especially on a road full of tar snakes. Your brain and muscle memory automatically loaded that front brake before applying it harder instead of just pulling it. So many who never learn riding skills would’ve dropped it right then and there on their own.
In all activities you have to choose your own risk limit. You could skydive and then decide base jumping is for you. You could go rock climbing and then choose to free solo. Same with motobikes, choose your level of risk through gear, how, when and where you ride, whether you're intoxicated when you do so. Only with this activity vs the others I've tried, do you have to factor in other people as the major risk. That's something you have a little control over, but not total control. Too many maniacs on the road. I love my MT07 either way!
Its all about lowering your risk through skill, wearing all the gear all the time, time you ride, where you ride, how you ride (defensive riding), what you ride (smaller quick bikes are more nimble), and some good luck. Like I said in the video, look at why most riders get killed, it is usually rider error, lack of skill and not wearing proper gear. However, sometimes shit happens.
Facts are riders are legitimately responsible for about 30% to 35% of all motorcycle accidents due to rider error. While the majority is because drivers pull out and turn left right into a rider and it pretty much guarantees a high side accident. The latter recently took a friend's life. Because a idiot was racing through the streets and slid around a corner and slammed him into a parallel parked car. He was just simply sitting at a red light.
I hate hearing "You're gunna die" or "those are dangerous" at gas stations, it's usually old people and I say, so are you and so is old age... It usually gets a shock and they age 2 weeks faster lol Counter steering wasn't taught in my local course here in Canada, I learned that in a hurry trying to keep up with liter bikes Know your limits via throttle control, corner approach and who you ride with. That corner you take at 80 every week might have oil or sand on it that 1 day out of 100. Old people getting older on the roads, young ppl get their license each year and every age is on their phone. Defensive riding. I seen a bro's knuckles literally disappear because he wore thin gloves. We aren't salamanders, that shit aint gunna grow back lol Cruisers are so easy to hop on and go, low to the ground gives confidence and the sound makes them feel badass, not realizing all that weight needs to be stopped sometimes in a hurry and they always say "I had TA lay ER downnnnn". Sport bikes are flickable, but entice speed with higher rpm to get to that powerband. I switch to an MT and love it Listening and typing... Bro, good point! Time of day. I find adrenaline and ppl watching gets riders doing shit they normally wouldn't do
Like anything, the operator decides how dangerous they are, especially when you use it to get somewhere wheelie wheelie fast! Ok seriously- a lot of danger is present when new and even “seasoned” riders never pursue or even practice skill learning. Like slow maneuvering and good road situations/what to look for while riding.
While I agree with all your points CC, but the stats show that we are more than 20 x more likely to be in a crash and seriously injured (Or worse) than car drivers. That's the reality. Ride like everyone else out there is trying to kill ya. I ride much like yourself..... hovering over my brake lever at intersections and near cars on side roads etc....... Do a course, they are generally really awesome and give you good tools to help you to survive out there. Then go out and ride! Great video.................
You should check out Molly Dixon from Australia. She’s got a killer bug out setup you gotta check out. Sponsored by Ironman 4X4. She extremely easy on the eyes too. 🔥
Motorcycles are dangerous because drivers might not see you as easily as a bigger car. Headlight makes a big difference to help drivers see you. Always check to see if your headlights are on. A car almost turned in front of me and I realized it was because my headlight was out.
They're only as dangerous as the rider and those around them. I've been accident free for over two decades. Had probably a hundred close calls but keeping alert, offensive and defensive at all times has kept me rolling.
Yep, speed kills. Reason I stopped riding superbikes and focus more on torque these days. The faster you go the less reaction time you have and the closer you are to death.
It's not that mororcycles are dangerous it's the surroundings that are dangerous like if you always ride in off road where its nothing but dirt and nothing to look out for and not ride fast speeds you don't need gear and you are not protected in cars from bigger things like semi trucks and trains
The rider is usually to blame, motorcycle riders blame the cars first instead of themselves. I cringe everytime I see a new rider in one of the online groups asking how to listen to their music while riding. I've been riding for 5 years and refuse to get any kind of coms in my helmet, I ride to get away from the world not to listen to music, gps, talk on my phone, etc. I am always like to learn to ride you don't need the distraction of music. I have a gps, I just keep an eye on it and know where to go, I don't need it telling me where to go.
Motorsickles aren't dangerous. It's either the rider, or the car drivers. I've already tasted the pavement by a car driver, and it took the fear out of me. I still ride, but meow I look more into others on the road. I also don't use it for deliveries or ride any night. Last weekend I rode over the bay, and have had a lot of fum. I don't listen to family and others telling me I need to quit riding. I will never stop. I like riding and motorsickles. I need to get ready for work right.
Man, my gut estimate is motorcycles aren’t 28 times more deadly… if you watch motostars, it’s more like motorcycles attract dummies and motorcycles are only about 10 times more deadly lol.
They are dangerous when you emulate all the idiots on RUclips pulling stunts and exceeding the speed limit. Besides the obvious lack of proper skill. Do the MSF classes…….ALL of them, then go to race school, even if you will never race. I teaches you about your machine and your limits, which gives you a better than 50/50 chance of a fck up. Where the best gear available, not the cheap Icon type crap. Leather, always leather and be sure your gear fits snug to tight, radial fractures can render you permanently disabled. Riding defensive is good, you must also be proactive and aggressive all at the same time. Don’t ever neglect maintenance. Tires are your only contact to accelerate and brake. Cheap tires equals crashes. So many others.
Are guns dangerous? LOL ! They are only as dangerous as those who handle them or should I say improperly handle them... Exactly the same logic as sitting in traffic then only to get hit by other moron drivers. Life itself is a gamble, enjoy it and do/make the best of it or just stay home and be an underachieve (Oh! even just sitting at home, the roof or the trees outside can collapse and crush the house.🤫)....

Man I look forward to your videos. It just makes my day better. 😂
Hi folks, trauma nurse here. Motorcycles are very dangerous. Ride safe friends
Nah. What's dangerous is tax evasion, not paying the cartels, or being around the wife on her period
@@1SmokingLizard 😂
@deathsarro Doctor here and absolutely agree with the nurse.
Not quite. Motorcycles are more dangerous IF you are involved in an accident. The skill that needs to be learnt is to ride in a manner that avoids the accident in the first place. The people you see generally dont ride in a way that minimises that risk.
You keep it real, amazing video🔥
Why you are not wearing the Neckbrace anymore? Because of the airbag jacket?
Every rider should read the Hurt Report from the 70's. It's old but still the best comprehensive study out there.
Yep! Ride safe, smart, and calm. Expect bad car drivers. Most importantly, enjoy the ride. 😊
I commute to work as much can. Traveling during times said worst 3-6 and home at night 12-1 am. Short trip varied speed limits.
Stay safe!
Good job they’re cycle cruiser. I’m looking into one of those vests. I might get one.
Exactly! Statistics say most motorcycle accidents are because of rider error and lack of gear. #1 speed kills, reason I no longer ride superbikes.
I hate hearing "You're gunna die" or "those are dangerous" at gas stations, it's usually old people and I say, so are you and so is old age... It usually gets a shock and they age 2 weeks faster lol
Counter steering wasn't taught in my local course here in Canada, I learned that in a hurry trying to keep up with liter bikes
Know your limits via throttle control, corner approach and who you ride with. That corner you take at 80 every week might have oil or sand on it that 1 day out of 100. Old people getting older on the roads, young ppl get their license each year and every age is on their phone.
Defensive riding. I seen a bro's knuckles literally disappear because he wore thin gloves. We aren't salamanders, that shit aint gunna grow back lol
Cruisers are so easy to hop on and go, low to the ground gives confidence and the sound makes them feel badass, not realizing all that weight needs to be stopped sometimes in a hurry and they always say "I had TA lay ER downnnnn". Sport bikes are flickable, but entice speed with higher rpm to get to that powerband. I switch to an MT and love it
Listening and typing...
Get out here and ride man!!!😂💪🏽👌🏽
Most of motorcycle accidents happen when the rider is alone, no car involved, riding on a dry road, under a sunny weather.
WHERE IS BUG OUT MOTO
I'm working on getting a new rig, my van is rotting of rust. lol
Motorcycles are dangerous because drivers might not see you as easily as a bigger car. Headlight makes a big difference to help drivers see you. Always check to see if your headlights are on. A car almost turned in front of me and I realized it was because my headlight was out.
Those rules apply, even at night, and while commuting to work Cruza.
They're only as dangerous as the rider and those around them. I've been accident free for over two decades. Had probably a hundred close calls but keeping alert, offensive and defensive at all times has kept me rolling.
23 year old fella lost his life last year in my area. He was speeding, lost control and hit a tractor trailer. 🤷🏼
Yep, speed kills. Reason I stopped riding superbikes and focus more on torque these days. The faster you go the less reaction time you have and the closer you are to death.
YOU ALWAYS should be careful, CC.
👍
It's not that mororcycles are dangerous it's the surroundings that are dangerous like if you always ride in off road where its nothing but dirt and nothing to look out for and not ride fast speeds you don't need gear and you are not protected in cars from bigger things like semi trucks and trains
It would be really cool to ride with ya some day
Many old men die wishing they'd taken more risks in life and many young men die wishing they'd taken less.
Put TWO hands on the damn bars!
Only the rider makes it dangerous but yes, sometimes when you encounter noobz out there. Just ride safe everyone.
Stay safe! Ride defensively and wear all the gear and you'll be just fine!
If you go out riding or driving thinking that everyone will be following the rules of the road, then you’re in trouble.
No drinking, no speeding, no nothing.
Everybody gets a turn w death…might as well have a little fun before you croak
Man, my gut estimate is motorcycles aren’t 28 times more deadly… if you watch motostars, it’s more like motorcycles attract dummies and motorcycles are only about 10 times more deadly lol.
Everything is dangerous if used incorrectly or irresponsibly. A pencil is dangerous if used in a certain way.
Facts!
Keep your head on a swivel....never assume people are paying attention.
It’s not the motorcycle it’s the people that ride them
Lot of truth to that statement
Exactly!
A motorcycle isn't dangerous at all.
Unless you get hit or hit something or lose control.
Its not the motorcycle it is the rider that is dangerous.
I am the danger!
Motorcycles aren't dangerous, people and all they touch are.
Third comment, finally was early enough
