    It's cool to see other guys my age excited about town cars. I have more Panthers than the precinct and ain't complaining. My Grand Marquis gets almost 30 mpg around here in the woods where there are no stop lights or traffic. 96k is nothing. Two of my town cars have over 200k. The 95 starts right up when it's 30 below. The others do not since they're not driven in the winter and have never seen salt.

      I personally believe the panther platform was one of the most reliable platforms Ford ever designed. I also have a soft spot for the Ford 302s, they have always treated me better than I've treated them!

      @@1D10CRACY no doubt about that. Ive been driving 4.6's since I started driving and I just finished that ng all the rusted plugs and coils in a 5.4. all I do is replace plugs on Ford modular engines. Pays all the bills and then some. Frickin surgery I tell ya

    Beautiful car! They don't make them like that anymore. My buddy owned a Limo company and would put 400K to 500K on these cars without any problems. He would change the oil, alternators, and tires...that's it!

      If taken care of, it's not uncommon to see 300k+ miles on them. Normally older people own them and don't thrash them.

    I'm so happy with mine , It's like riding in my living room with a big easy chair behind the steering wheel. The 16 inch tires are do smoothly riding gobbling little bumps on the road. The back seat is nothing less than a full size leather sofa. Sunroof or air conditioning I'm king of the road when I ride this Lincoln...

      I'm thinking about buying one in 2 days, has 175,000 on it but besides a little oil leak it's in perfect condition. Not 100% sure yet though, 1999 was a long time ago but I've heard they are so reliable.

    So which is the commuter now--The Lincoln or the Tesla?

    • @1D10CRACY
      @1D10CRACY  4 года назад

      My work commute is a bit too far for the "Tesla". So it's either Luxury, or I dive the Volt to safe on gas. ;)

      @@1D10CRACY My memory failed me; I thought the CARVANA purchase was a Tesla. Obviously it was a Volt instead. I was just today looking at some of those on both CARVANA and CarMax; they can be had for around $10K with 50K miles. Thinking seriously about it. How old/how many miles was yours when bought? Happy with it?

      I wanna say it had about 42k on the odometer and was $14k, it's a 2015, last of the first gen. I purposely went after the first gen as they are reportedly overbuilt. The 2nd gen have better specs though! I now have 61k on the odometer, about half has been on electric. So far the only issue I've had was a pump that circulates coolant through the heater core failed. It was easy enough to swap out and seems to be a common fail point. It's costing a littler over a buck to do a full charge, that charge will get you ~40 miles before the car switches over to generator power. I like it, but it's a cracker box compared to the Towncar.

      Oh, piss off. I'm twenty-seven and I absolutely love the cars on the Ford panther platform. The Ford Crown Victoria put away a dizzying amount of criminals as a police car and drove many people in reasonable comfort as a taxi, the Lincoln Town Car drove around some of the biggest celebrities to awards shows, the Mercury Grand Marquis is a great compromise on the reliability of a Ford Crown Victoria and the luxurious opulence of a Lincoln Town Car.
