The word fork was coined by Mind(Sung Gyoon Park). It was first used when he was teaching terran beginners. To them he mockingly said, "Why use chopsticks(terran) when you can fork(protoss) it?”, joking that they chose the wrong race.
Since protoss were often called out as a race that owes their lower level victories to its high skill floor, the word caught on. From then, protoss getting victory from simply a-moving their low tech units, was called forking.
TFW the best Terran build order is to click on the race dropdown and select Protoss.

I'm korean and I regularly browse korean starcraft forums and the easiest race mentioned is a toss up between protoss and early all in zerg. I personally think all in rush zerg is a little bit easier though

i think tasteless had the best take. some parts are easier and some are harder. objectively yes protoss is mechanically easiest to play early game and low tier, but that doesnt convert to high level wins so.. its not such a simple answer always. rt should cast KCM if he wants to satisfy his protoss hate, they are getting rolled LOL. also the end of the video is too good
Although you are of course right, some parts are easier and some harder. In this case, it really is that simple - Protoss is objectivly all things considered the easiest race.
@@mathias8013 maybe skill floor but to win in PvT for example at pro level you gotta do intense shuttle micro and shit. Meanwhile all the terran does is siege up and lay mines, turtle on 3 bases.
This is coming from a terran player btw, is it hard to do what I just said for terran? Yes, but all pros can do that, and once we get to that pro level, all of the weight falls on the toss to outplay the T, both tactically and mechanically.
Can't speak for PvZ. And even at the skill floor toss isn't THAT much easier than T.

Zerg highest win rate for beginner to intermediate, protoss highest win rate for intermediate to expert (where artosis plays), Terran highest win rate at pro level (not where artosis plays). If he just got to pro level he'd win more 😂
You got protoss and zerg backwards. Protoss is highest at beginner level but to actually play zerg you need more like 200 APM, where as protoss can get to A rank with 100 apm.

@@johnnyboy3563 No. Mass hydra is only used in ZvP. True it's easy to wreck protoss with hydras but zvz uselss and ZvT hard to pull off hydra play of any kind, especially at low level.

Yea, I get that Portoss is a pretty easy race to start off with but at higher levels their winrate falls off. 50% of ASL are won by Terran against protoss much more skilled than the typical "idiot" that Artosis faces on the ladder, yet he still loses and throws a huge hissyfit because they are "trash players". Even if that were true, what does that make a person that loses to said players? Artosis lives in a constant existence of his own copium. He's a mid-tier player and always will be.

easiest race for me to play is prot, hardest is zerg even though I mainly play zerg because of the macro cycles. I am still trying to get it down perfectly
Protoss is easiest but weakest, I think Zerg and Terran are in contention for hardest cause it's pretty close but Terran is pretty clearly the best race when played at equal levels.
Protoss is really only the weakest at a pro-level of play. So for 99.9% of players Protoss is the easiest thus making it the strongest.
i see where you're coming from if you look at tournament wins and highest echelons of ranked ladder, but from 0-2500 mmr it's protoss that is easiest to play and win. RT makes legit irrefutable arguments about some of their advantages considering in the 90s blizzard had no idea what they were doing and never made this game with 30 years of competitive esports in mind. FACTS: toss have higher average supply per unit which = more supply per control group which = fewer control groups to manage; toss has < or = the number of spell casting units as other races; gateways are easier to manage than buildings with required add-ons (that also take up more space) and larva; probes are fastest builder unit and can immediately return to gathering after starting a building; storm is most cost efficient spell in the game when used well and easiest to use well. There may be other reasons, but that's enough to demonstrate that if you want to get into the game and climb ladder toss is more beginner friendly.

What strategy are you surprized that doesn't seem to exist?
For me it's in PvT, with carrier + Arbiter. Recalling carriers across the map seems like a great boost to their biggest weakness, mobility. It looks like the time investment is the bigger problem than the minerals/gas.
It is expensive to get arbiter tribunal, an arbiter, AND research recall but I think in a super lategame type scenario yes, around 500 mineral + gas to get it but being able to ping them across the map once army is out of position would be extremely powerful.
Carriers NEED critical mass to be effective
And once you have critical mass you are in such an advantageous position that its better to try and end the game immediately
Arbiters are just too slow and if you go arbiters you don’t need the carriers because the strength of arbiters is hitting before your opponent can defend against them
Guy in the chat is right. Protoss good for streamers and ladder but Terran is better for high skill players and winning tournaments.

At the highest level I think Terran and Zerg are better. Zerg has mobility and crazy macro, and Terran has heavy firepower and zone control. Protoss has slight aoe and durability, but ina game where both sides are playing at the highest level, I think Protoss strengths are a lot less pronounced then the Zerg and especially terran ones. The flip side is that Zerg and terran are much more open to costly mistakes that can kneecap them early, where Protoss builds are generally safer and relatively straightforward. I think this is why Protoss may be easier to get into, and qualify with, but at the higher end of things they fall apart against Zerg and Terran in the late game.

Something I haven’t seen anyone mention, is that all players are different. We all think differently and that completely effects which race we view as easy. Protoss often are strong in early to mid game against Terran. However the Terran is often turtling most of the game waiting for +2 and a timing attack that can steamroll Protoss most of the time. So as a player, if you think more aggressively and creatively than you’ll probably find Protoss easier to play. However if you like to 2 base turtle and not scout than you’ll be like RT and play Terran.
Sure mate, but all of the being said, Protoss is still objectivly the easiest race for 99% of players thus making it "the easiest race".

@@lifenote1943 When I was playing years ago, I found Zerg the easiest to win with then Toss and I sucked at Terran because I never liked to turtle and the micro on the MnM was too extensive. Toss was my main because Carriers are OP, Templars wreck, Cannon Rush is funny and Invisible Men Drops are hilarious.

When I started playing SC in 1998 I wanted to be zerg. It was too hard as a 12 year old so I switched to Terran after a while. In the end... my best race was Protoss. T.T
