    • @tupeuxreussirsunnyday4013
      @tupeuxreussirsunnyday4013 5 лет назад +36

I think you are absolutely right. That is exactly why we need feminism.
Those weird gender roles that are installed in society are one of the biggest reasons why there is more man in suicide statistics. It is important to have men understand that you can be weak at some point in your life, that you have the right to ask for help, that you don't need to always be '' the man'', that you can be close with your own sister and share with her your doubts and insecurities, that you have the right to be super close to your friends and they support you when things are very bad and be an emotional support.
When they have children, men have to be close to their own daughter and always talk with her and encourage her. To talk with your son, always really be interested in what he is doing. To have men stop thinking they have to be the provider ( women too need to stop thinking that only men can provide or have to be the biggest provider) that responsibility to make sure that your own family is living fine is just too huge for only one person.
Men need to understand that when they have a son they also need to raise him and give him guidance, not just put themselves in a
automatic mode as if nothing ''bad'' can ever really happen to men. They need to stop shrugging everything that a boy or man says as weak, a complaint and just respond by ''your just not strong enough'', '' be a man'' and all the bullsh*t that sound like that.
Men need to understand that every woman is the daughter of a man, how can you disrespect women when one day you'll have a daughter of your own? every man is the son of a woman that had to go thought the most horrible pain known ever just for him to be born and alive. Men need to understand that a woman is just someone without having to point out that she could be the daughter of another man, for them to understand her value...
Men have to understand that they are just humans that make mistakes, can be weak and need a helping hand. they can love and be whoever they f*cking want. A colour, a table position, a job or a way to be is not what makes you a man. It's the way you have lived your life so far that makes you a man, nothing else.
Lastly, violence really has a sex, male!
I would really like to understand why. What are the societal, personal and historical reasons that led to men being so violent and that in their psyche it is in a certain way okay when another man has violent outbursts, even as a child.
(I'm talking about any king of violence, from psychological to physical and sexual)
Disclaimer: All of this is also applicable to women. ( The violence part, I know that women can be as violent as men, but if you look at the percentage of who is the victims of violence, it is often women at the hands of a man. If you look at all the mass shootings, I don't think I ever heard of a woman being the shooter, same for harassment, rape and so on...)

@@tupeuxreussirsunnyday4013 re; suicide: i used to think that the cause of men committing suicide at three times the rate was because of gender roles making men less likely to open up, but apparently, women attempt suicide at a rate three times that of men. men are just more successful because they use more lethal/violent means. of course, men being more violent is significantly due to socialisation ("boys will be boys" etc.).

so, when men want their own organization, they are trolls?

    • @jenbunnyaqua
      @jenbunnyaqua 5 лет назад

Ahmed Khalil- a troll is a creature that lives under the bridge that causes inconveniences to your passing the bridge by forcing you to answer riddles or pay fines. They are not necessary to cross the bridge, but will form obstacles everywhere possible.
So when men are ‘organizing’ what obstacle has the ‘feminism troll’ placed on your bridge?
The sudden anxiety and fear that they could be accused of sexual misconduct?? Okay, an easy solution to that is to be on alert whenever any form of misconduct occurs; be it sexual or otherwise. So, when a man is harassing a woman on the street, tell the guy not cool, call them out on it. If every abuser was stopped before the abuse could occur in theory there would be no more abuse and so every accusation must therefore be a lie. See how that erased your anxiety while it also defended women from abuse?
What other anxiety/ fear do you have? That they’re not ‘capable’ of a powerful position?
Are there objective, biological facts that you have found which states this? If so, divulge away; I’m happy to hear them.
Are they instead anxieties because it is unknown turf to have a woman in power and you were raised with this ‘belief’ and so therefore it shouldn’t be a risk worth taking? This is the general conclusion I have drawn from men spewing reasons against female presidents and quite frankly; it is stupid. Baseless Fears should not dictate who is able to fill a job.
Is it that women are more ‘believed’ than men when accusations arise? If so, that is once again, an internal bias that is not relevant to a debate, but it can be stopped by focusing on the facts objectively and calling someone out when they deviate from objective truths by giving a male or female more credibility based on who they are and not what occurred.
With this in mind, yes, many ‘men’s organizations’ are indeed trolls because not only are patriarchies STILL PREDOMINATE on a global scale, but there is no direction, there is no middle ground; it is just a bunch of men agreeing that they are scared and uncertain and that the best way to feel ‘safe’ is by coming together and attacking the most radical change on a global scale of the past century: female autonomy.
This by no means states that all feminists are right, but in all essence this is the equivalent of a government running scared because their citizens were given more rights. At the end of the day you, as a man, still have more power, more rights, more autonomy, and more credibility on a global, macroscopic scale; so why actively put down a marginalized group clearly not dominating you?
This tension is causing significant, cyclic damage amongst ourselves because the ‘feminazis’ are given ammo and fuel to continue hating men with these ‘MRA’s and ‘MRAs’ have no real argument or end goal other than ‘feminazis hate men, so female equality most be bad because ‘they hate men’ and the ‘feminazis’ continue to give their argument ammo and fuel to keep it going.
At the end of the day, a ‘fear’ of possible oppression does not beat actual oppression.

This woman brings a great point about men seeing strong women as a flashback to their more vulnerable states as children. This is also a great point for how dangerous ‘toxic masculinity’ is because women are huge proponents on sustaining this status quo of a one-dimensional man. We see all kinds of women: some are girly, some are sporty, some are nerdy; women are given a chance to relate to more dimensions in their character whereas a ‘good man’ is a strong, confident character that is not emotional and can withstand anything neutrally. This is dangerous because if boys don’t fit into their ‘one-dimensional’ role the female adults raising him will put him down UNTIL they start to fulfill this ‘role’, hence they grow up resentful, bitter, and unconsciously remembering how women put them down until he got the ‘man role’ right.
Personally, I hate the term ‘toxic masculinity’ because it implies a set of characteristics are ‘negative’; the shift of the focus should be ‘toxic- one-dimensional roles expected of men’. That is dangerous in the same way that raising a woman to be a ‘one-dimensional subservient’ character is archaic and very much dangerous.
I wish she had also brought up how feminism helps men by helping them feel inclusion and support when they are at their lowest points. Victims of abuse suffer terribly, but when you’re a male victim of abuse; not only are you suffering in silence, but people disregard your pain for being a ‘strong man’ or worse they put you down for ‘letting it happen by not being a strong man’.
We need to rise together and understand that supporting each other does not mean ‘treating one sex differently’ it means that just because an individual doesn’t fit into a mold society expected them to have than that person is defective and should be disregarded. It means understanding that there are biases all around us and within us that predetermines how we interact with people, and that to support one another means to actively and consciously put down the biases and LISTEN TO THE HUMAN BEING IN FRONT OF YOU.

So yes, although we aren't immediantly at risk from an outright ban in the West, Rome wasn't built in a day and the times are changing.
And I do stand up on trains when it's busy, not just because my legs are healthy enough to do so, but because sitting with my legs together is uncomfortable for long periods of time and I struggle with that. But I certainly wouldn't dream of ordering a fat person in an empty or otherwise carriage to hold and tuck all their excess skin and fat into their space.
In recent years, the UK feminist writers such as those from The Guardian, bemoan and display criticism over male gender being possibly included as a proctected characteristic alongside female and minority groups, in any I overhauled hate laws.
I don't particularly dislike Feminism in itself, but I have a fervent intolerance to those that are intolerant to others and often times feminists fall into that. My nan likes to interrupt me midsentence and finish off my stories. She is a lovely, kind and generous person. Why would I dare attach some spiteful label on that? I could accuse her of NAN-splaining but what would I or her gain from that?

Why not having the ethymology of egalitarianism then??
There is the false dichotomy here where it put feminism as the only way to seek equality which is false and then supposed non feminist do not seek equality.
About feminism being about equality, well i would point P Mary Koss who is an *aknowledged* and famous feminist who stated that men could no be raped by a woman.
Maybe i could use the exemple of the exemple of the official document about gender equality which do not take into account the case where women have it better than men.
Another point would be the new large scale studies on parter abuse which are a good way to highlight how missinformation about partner abuse on campain etc have been spread throught mainstream media and supported by feminism. (same for the wage gap and lot of large scales studies/meta analysis show lack of bias against women in hiring, promoting and wage raise).
Or how it is urgent to take care of women homelessness as they represent 1 in 4 homeless people. (i hope you see the problem here, if we talk about equality, then admiting that 3/4 of homeless ppl won't hurt)
Maybe i should point out the fact that Feminism push for more women in STEM while ignoring that women make the majority of the higher education (60% against 40%). (idem men not being in higher education is due to a "lack of skill or interest" and women not being in STEM is due to sexism. THis framing put hyperagency on men and hypoagency on women)
Also it is okay to "punch up" but not down even when the average man has as much power, opportunity etc as women (excluding the CEO etc which are a *minority* of men). Some people use the exact same logic of "the majority of banking/CEO position is held by X population, they have too much power etc so it is okay we punch up" but guess what i am talking about a dark age in the XX centurY. But the logic used is exactly the same one as the one justifying bashing men and i don't remember feminist punishing it.

The frame of the patriarchy put way too much agencey on men too, framing men's issues as a consequence of women poor treatment and issues.
Not helped when beaten up? well it is because he is strong, even if he has a frail body. Another way to frame it is that men are expendable then nobody (men nor women) care about them (see the empathy gap and the BOKO HARAM case)
Sentenced longer as a man for an equal crime, circumstances and record? Because men are seen as stronger and more capable of harm. Another way to frame it is to considere that women are seen as moraly superior.
The list is longer but for the sake of concision I only took 2 exemples
*All the framing of the women issues through a feminist length put all the agency on men and hypoagency on women which is an existing stereotype putting women as the primary victim so feminism enforce gender stereotype*
So before you make an appeal to the definition, a mouvment is defined by its actions. Otherwise communism would be one of the best thing ever. History tells otherwise.
My last word is in theory I don't agree with the patriarchy presuposition in western countries nor i agree with the actions of feminism when it harms men.

The real world doesn't work like that unfortunately, some are privileged from the start and some are surviving every day, not even living, surviving. Opening your mind to others' life stories makes you understand that, we are unfortunately not all born equal, but as a society, we can make it equal, so that everyone has a chance to a better life. I am privileged, I just need to remember that I need to use my privilege to help others because I could have been born in a billion other situations where I wouldn't even understand what is the meaning of freedom.
So yeah, open your mind to understand, that using this kind of thinking as above makes the world more difficult for others. That is not a positive outlook, but an excuse for the suffering of people. I'll tell you the same '' It just shows how poor and lacking you are with your own thoughts''.
That philosophy is so flawed and makes every person living look lazy and stupid. When you witness people surviving by going out from that bubble we live in, we learn that, for us, privileged, that way of thinking is true, for anyone else ( billions of people) that is the biggest lie and a dangerous way to view the world...

I don't know much about this woman, but for her to pigeon-hole male deaths to "speeding, violence, etc" is rediculously naive. (Or manipulative)
    She is blaming testosterone.
What about giving some credit to the Emergency Services, the Police, Firemen, the Soldiers in wars, men who commit suicide, the men who stop their vehicles to help others in crashes, the men who hear a woman's scream and put themselves in danger to protect the woman. And so much more!
    Is this femenism?
I will continue to protect women where I can. Just don't throw my actions in my face!

wow, it turns out the narrative of feminists hating men that is portrayed by the right is ... incorrect? in fact, the few studies that have been done show that feminists are not more likely to hate men than non-feminists.

@@Celisar1 Everyone benefits from empowering those around them who have been systematically oppressed. Someone using my gender to tell me how these benefits will affect me is sexist.
My gender tells you nothing about my life experience, it tells you nothing about who I am or what I've been through.
The best you can do is say "This is how a stereotypical man can benefit from feminism," but I thought part of the goal here was to get away from stereotypes, is it not?

I agree with you in that everyone benefits from ending any systematic (or individual) suppression.
But sexist has a clear definition as diminishing, disrespecting and treating someone worse based on gender which isn’t the case here.
The layout of the question was in addition how MEN (Seth was the one generalising here) can benefit from feminism.
And going by statistics she gave the right answer.
