I am 30 years old and never knew my tongue posture was bad and had always thought my bleeding gums were due to mouth hygiene. Thank you so so so much for your wisdom it’s changed my life and no more bleeding, bad taste, or bad breath. Oh and I’m not biting my tongue. Thank you!
i only realized what tongue thrust was when I was 45, I thought everybody eat the same way with their tongue moving forward u. I'm 50 in April with an overbite not sure if they are able to pull my teeth back.
@@arafchowdhury8196 no it goes hand in hand, good tongue posture encouragese good body posture, and good body posture encourages good tongue posture. But good tongue posture alone can't fix bad body posture, and so does the otherwise. You need to fix both posture problems to achieve perfect posture. As of right now i have better tongue posture than before, so does my body posture but the improvement it's not as good as the tongue posture, because i did not do any stretches to fix my body posture. My tongue posture is still not perfect because i don't train my body posture yet. To summarize train both body posture and tongue/neck posture at the same time
I'm 50 never knew nothing about tongue thrust myself, until i was 45 and when i asked my doctor about my open bite then he mentioned orthodontist . i was like what's that? anyways, i got to the orthodontist now and that's when it dawned on me that i have a tongue thrust issue. I wish all these dentists were trained to alert us when we where young, but they were just concerned about not wanting to lose their patients to orthodontist . Now, i just check on youtube myself on any health issues before seeing the doctors and dentist so as to speak the same language and ask thorough questions using their language to convey my issue properly about everything regarding my health.
Thank you so much for this! All my life I have had a problem with tongue thrusting and I even have braces right now to fix the underbite that this problem has caused. I hope to use these exercise to improve my facial features, bite, and overall tongue posture!
I’m 42 and just had a frenulectomy and your exercises have been so invaluable helping me develop my new tongue movements. I can already tell a difference in the strength and mobility from when it was done, and I’m only on my 4th day! Thank you for sharing these! Also, I just discovered I can lick my molars! My family only thinks it’s weird that I couldn’t before, but I’m so excited I just had to share! 😄
Hello, thank you for posting this. Currently trying to get a health provider since we moved out of state for our daughter who is 5. Back where we used to live our pediatrician, dentist, other doctors/specialist (such as SLP and speech) never once mentioned our daughter has a tongue tie. So we never knew, especially since our daughter was a breastfed baby. Only during kindergarten this year and getting her speech did this speech therapist mention she may have a tongue tie. My girlfriend mentioned myofunctional therapy and the importance of it with her tongue prior to doing any procedure. So I will begin these before we find a specialist for this.
1:50 exercise 1 for muscle memory to the spot+ stretch 1 min 3:50 exercise 2 bear hug tongue push up 5:20 exercise 3 candy spot swallow practice lips closed 6:30
Most myofunctional therapists assign you to do the exercises they give you two times a day, if you remember. Of course, the more you do them the quicker you'll see improvement.
Hi, these exercises are fundamentals for anyone with myo-dysfunction. I highly recommend you watch the tongue-thrust video to understand the challenges of the tongue-thrusting therapy!
We did release our 4 yr old son's tongue 1 and 1/2months back. But still his articulations are same as before. We didn't do any exercises before or after the release. Can we do the exercises now?? Will this help us now ??
Surgery without physio (aka myofunctional therapy) is likely to fail. Just like stomach stapling without diet modification. Nothing to lose by trying though.
Unfortunately without seeing the range of motion on the tongue area, it is impossible for me to give you a correct answer. Once the tongue is healed; the post-op exercises will give minor improvement in range of motion but not significant if the tongue has a thick scar. Once the tongue is release, speech therapy need to happen to over-come the articulation issues. The tongue will try to move in the same movements unless other-wise instructed!

I highly recommend you get a new one if the lower part is broken. Unfortunately, we do not sell the myobrace unless they are our patients.
How many times a day should we do these exercises? Only 2 minutes?
As much as possible. You are building a habit.
