- While our mom may have made us sing this song, we are glad she did. It's a really cool song and it was really special to hike in the parkway and sing this song in Little Cataloochee Baptist Church. One day, we would love to go back and do it again.

Don't worry about the resolution. Your Mom and each of you made an awesome video. Two of the threads that glimmer for me in the Appalachian fabric that she and you and your family live and reveal are persistence and craftsmanship. The first seems to gift the second. It is everywhere to be seen. Your Mom's writing and storytelling, your Dad's hunting and building, Katie's rocks and jewelry, and for both of you, your music. Your Mom valued good audio then and now. My sister in Christ and I went to a women's conference in TN Gatlinburg and we went to th8is park that had old churches and we went in and sang Amazing grace and the acoustics in that church were excellent! It was a beautiful memory

But as adults it was you two young women who chose to embrace your faith, and the old (but good) ways brought down from the gerations. In my humble opinion the original can't be improved upon. There is a freshness and innocence that makes it perfect.
Cataloochee is one of my very favorite places. So many spirits there. Don’t mean that in a ghostly way, just when you go in to those buildings, if it’s quiet, you can almost hear kids running and playing in the creek. We hiked up to the cemetery and walked around. So peaceful. I am happy there. Thank you ladies for the trip back.

Loved it! We use to live in Waynesville. Go past the Caldwell house to Rough Fork trail at end of road. Hike back about a mile to the Woody house. Been there many times. Beautiful hike. My husband baptized someone in creek in Catalooch. Freezing cold. We had many friends that were born in Catalooch. One elderly lady that has passed away told us that her first trip out of the valley was to Knoxville to the dentist when she was 16. She said she couldn't wait to get home. Her name was Bea Sisk. A lovely lady. I wish I could live there!!

That song was perfectly done, I was moved by the haunting sound of it. I love the old churches, there’s one across the Alabama line from me in the Talladega national forest you can hike to. It was started by some of my ancestors in the 1840s. Maybe y’all will go back, these old churches need remembering. God bless.

@cumberlandquiltchic1 that was filmed long before utube outlawed. I just said I saw a church like that in the smokies not that one. There are many churches like this in NC, TN & Ky & my home in AR. If that’s true many on utube film in the national park every day.

This brought back so many memories of the little country church in West Virginia that we walked to as children. Down the dirt road, nestled in the shade of tall pines. We visited it again several years ago. It looked the same, but the people were gone, just like in your video. I loved this. Beautiful music, you girls and your mother are a blessing.

Mama knew best as I’m sure you have figured out by now. Great build up to the video which only added to the charm. It was lovely and the church dwelling lended a perfect backdrop. I find that I’m drawn to this video and would enjoy more of these from you. I didn’t appreciate growing up in the hills of West Virginia as a young girl and couldn’t wait to break free. Having lived in a bustling suburb of our nation’s capitol since graduating from college, I now find myself longing for that feeling of hometown simplicity where friends raise their hands to wave, take time to speak, and really care about you. I long to sit on a porch and break beans with you all…😊

We're all bratty when we're younger, no matter how long ago you were that age! I remember very well acting all uppity and thinking my parents were lame and I'm in my sixties now. That church is so pretty and the mountains surrounding it are spectacular! That was such a sweet and mournful song and you all sang it beautifully! No wonder your Mama treasures that video! 💕
I love this. I could see me and my little sister doing this. We would where our old dresses that we loved and walk around barefoot back in the hills to old houses singing all the way. Love those days. You brought back a lot of memories. Honestly I can remember all eight of us kiddos doing this. Thank you both for all the memories

What a great performance in such a beautiful setting. The building reminded me of a scene from the movie Cold Mountain that takes place in a simple church that is painted all white.
