    Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, they're mainstream actors who can play a good gangster character, Joe Pesci even better, but Ray Liotta has the ICE COLD stare. Stone cold gangster stare and voice to give you chills. Excellent actor. Wish he would've made more gangster films that would bring out the best, most realistic and intense dark character. Jamie B Depp did an amazing job at acting just like him. And the dark eyes was actually accurate because when he was in prison they gave him a crazy ass ridiculous amount of LSD for experimentation back at that time. Prisoners could partake in LSD experiments in exchange for lesser time, and Whitey did that, and he consumed an incredible amount of LSD, and because of that his eyes were dark dark black.

    Kuklinski was a serious psycho. But the idea that he was a good husband and father is a myth. His ex has always tried to sell that story, but his kids say he was a terrifying monster all the time. They were scared to death of him. He was every bit as abusive as you'd expect.

    • @thugxlove88
      @thugxlove88 8 месяцев назад +1

      Sometimes being overprotective of kids can cause them to be terrified of you even if you have never abused them. Trauma comes in many different forms. Kinda like robert dinero and his daughter in the irishman. Grocery story owner slaps daughters hand cuz she accidentally tipped over some merchandise and when her father (dinero) hears about it he takes daughter to the store to confront the man and beats the shit out of the man for disrespecting his daughter. Most people will salute him for what hes done but the daughter saw things differently and from there on was terrified of him and kept a distance from him as she thought he was a monster. Nobody knows the truth about kuklinskis relationship with his daughters or wife except them so its easy to assume things from our pov

      You end up this way if you accumulate enough trauma in your life. Something inside you suddenly snaps and you’re no longer someone who gives a shit anymore. The phrase “whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” is bull shit. When you go through some terrible shit that changes you and no one is around to give a single fuck about you you’ll inevitably end up a killer.

    So bad. I don't know what's worse; Ray Liotta playing Roy Demeo or the chap done up to look like Nino Gaggi taking orders from him. Nino was Roy's boss

    Good actors but this movie is hard to watch when you listen to the source material. The only part that happened in this movie that actually happened in real life is Roy DeMeo smacking around Kuklenski, that’s it.

      That only happened in the interviews, not real life. 95% of his claims were lies. He killed 5 people, 3 to rip off and 2 to silence and none were mafia related.
      The Darkness Underneath podcast on RUclips does a great job methodically going through his claims with several videos containing hours of information.✌️

    Roy DeMeo was subservient to Nino Gaggi.
    I hate how they portray Nino as the paper boy,it was the exact opposite. Nino went back to the 40's w Cosa Nostra.

      What did you expect? Lol. Not only does the movie perpetuate the myth that Kuklinski was actually a hitman it portrays him as a loving father who didn't give regular beatings to his wife in front of the children.

    I am trying to understand why they killed the homeless man? What did he do?

    • @divinespark4842
      @divinespark4842 8 месяцев назад

      It was a test. The Iceman passed and consequently began working as a debt collector/hitman for Liotta's character. The reason they chose the homeless guy was twofold: because he was a bum, that made him more disposable than many people in society; and because he was so affable for a bum, it made killing him a lot more difficult morally, so it was to test how cold and ruthless the Iceman could be -- something that was an essential trait in the cut-throat, brutal gangster world. Again, the Iceman passed, and so began working as a hitman for Liotta's character. Just watched this film for the first time last night and really liked it. I'm from the UK and knew nothing about the Iceman, so it's intriguing that some of it is based on true events.

He even has a video I saw over twenty years ago of Detective McCabe NYPD who stated the producers of the original HBO documentary contacted him and when he told them he investigated his claims and was able to debunk most they never called him back.
