School Sports Safety: How to Protect Athletes from Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Preventing sudden cardiac arrest in young athletes requires a combination of awareness, education, screening, and preparedness. Evan Ernst and Shawn Sima, from Who We Play For, will educate us on their mission to eliminate preventable sudden cardiac death through ECG heart screenings in youth athletes. They will also review the new legislation and the importance of AEDs at sporting events and in schools.
We hope you take away the importance of heart screenings for youth athletes, the value of having an emergency action plan and AED in your facility, and how the “Damar Effect” has changed the velocity of legislation.

I am so thankful for AEDs! My sons middle school soccer team had one and the dads beg cpr and then using the aed saved his life! This was just over a month ago and so traumatic to watch hence why I saw this webinar, I signed up! My school has one and since I teach pe, they want one in my gym now too! First responders/aeds save lives!
