Third I agree with what you said in regard to people are getting tired of the same cream formulations, black mascara, emphasis on blush (guilty of that too, LOVE a good pink) and I think in 2025 we will continue to see “no makeup” makeup looks, maybe more focus on skin-like-finish foundations/powder foundations/tints, and the focal point will be on accentuating the eyes and lips or either just the eyes or just the lips ❤💄✨
I am almost 50. At my age, you use makeup to bring vibrancy back to your face. Why would you skip blush and give yourself cadaver lips? A lot of these trends are a no-go for women over 40.
I hear ya! I love seeing what's on trend and making some aspects of the trend work for me. I am not big on nudes in general, mauve is my jam on my lips but I am excited for the shimmers and frost look making a comeback

I'm doing the same. I've bought the same product twice cause I do have alot & it's time to use those that I have instead of looking for something better. I was happy with NYC powder blush after years of liquids and it's called Butter blush the color is " butta with time", pretty. It's a powder but so soft it feels great & looks like I going my color. Think it was only like $13 bucks at Walgreens. They have some good makeup there. In case anyone cares, I can't spend hundreds of $$$ on makeup so.. but that's me! I've been wearing brown mascara exclusively for 30 years. The color is so much softer and flatters light skin and light hair much more than black, even with brown eyes, especially since I'm older. If brown mascara becomes a trend, I'll be happy because there will certainly be a lot more choice of different products.

I think the brown mascara trend started early this year. When I walk into Sephora I can find at least 4 big brands that carry a brown mascara. I, too, have been a brown mascara wearer for 30 years and it has been really difficult to find one in brown until early this year. The closest thing we used to have in the drugstore was the Maybelline great lash in brownish black.....which was really just black! 😂 Almay has one in the drugstore that was a staple for me.
@ so true! Brownish black in my opinion was just muddied brown. I love a true rich brown :) I haven’t found a brand that makes one that checks all the boxes for me so I do feel like I need to take matters into my own hands for this one 👀👀

Trends is for Tiktokers, RUclipsrs and Influencers cause they film make up videos daily. Normal people only need a simple way to apply makeup daily and a few glam or classy make up style for party. We can change our layout of makeup any time. I don't need to feel FOMO to buy all of the new release cosmetics just to follow a trend, but I do enjoy watching pretty girls have fun with trends on social media.
Trends are for anyone wanting to try them out and explore colour , technique or creativity, makeup is an art form, you can still have fun with makeup 😊 therefore, you don’t have to follow every trend, just the ones you like and make you feel good/confident ❤

She's still struggle with her salary buy buying stuffs like an influencer, she watchs Tiktok but not doing Tiktok so she got FOMO. She just keeps buying things but don't have chance to use them then just ask me and my mom for money in the end of the months 😞 She cried because she has to work all the time but don't have enough money to go travel. I said you spend all your money to buy cosmetic, just save money for the more important things. But she doesn't listen to me 😞
She sounds like a lot of fun. Trends are ideas for you to try and see if you like them. Otherwise, you would remain in a makeup routine of boring colors and applications.
The skin tone can make the difference between black and brown mascara. I have brown eyes and I wear only brown mascara. Black looks unnatural. Everyone should try brown mascara. And it does not really looks like brown. Ich habe in meiner Jugend immer schwarz getragen und es sah nicht gut aus. Als ich ca 19 war las ich in einer Zeitschrift den Tipp, braunes Mascara zu testen. Seitdem trage ich braunen mascara. Er schmeichelt meinem Hautton. Und jetzt wäre es mal Zeit für braune künstliche Wimpern. Da habe ich nämlich das gleiche Problem, dass es einfach zu hart und auf schlechte Weise unnatürlich aussieht.
Same here, I absolutely need my blush, it really wakes up my face and completes my everyday look. I love blush so much, it will always be a part of my makeup routine.
As someone with textured, oily skin I am so excited at the idea of powder coming back. The dewy skin looks awful on me and it’s sucked having such limited powder options in recent years
its 2024 the makeup industry is booming, there is definitely not a limited amount of powder products. there are boat loads. every brand has powder everything

I’m 58 and finally found my every day make up look. I’ve stopped using foundation and just use concealer. Pot concealer that I’ve bought in bulk in case it’s ever discontinued and is the shade rose porcelain which covers any redness. I then set my face with baby powder after a lifetime of buying expensive face powder. Charcoal not black eyeliner or dark brown on my lash line and under my eyes and a matching eyeshadow in a hoop shape in my eye socket. I wear blusher in a pinky peach and a highlighter on the top of cheekbones. Mascara. I overline my lips in Rimmel hazel eyebrow pencil as it’s a neutral colour and gives my lips definition. A pale pink or peach tones lipstick worn over a lip balm and I’m good to go.
Good for you, I'm sure you're beautiful, sounds pretty... At my age , 70, it's 😢difficult to wear lipstick on my wrinkled lips & face. Botox would never do , I'd need Dr. Debrow for the full effect. But, I'm doing what my Grandmother did, just accepting it. I'm going to try the brown idea, my eyes aren't bad at all .. but the bottom half just FEEL! OMG... 😮😢❤️🇱🇷🍀🙏💜😘
I've been doing that for years - concealer & powder, no foundation. It's even better now I got completely rid of all my face hair. Mainly cause I've huge pores, & greasy skin. Glad you've pots & pots of your fave concealer, to make sure you last the apocalypse. 😊
I have very red cheeks, so I hope the blush trend never ends because I can just wear a light coverage foundation, bb cream, or a tinted moisturizer and fit right in.
I don’t think people really follow trends anymore. They just do what they want. A trend is exploited only for the purpose of selling a certain kind of makeup. That’s it. Has nothing to do with that looks good on women or not. I think women are smart enough to put on whatever makeup they like, whatever make up makes them look good, and be happy with it. Who are we to judge anybody else because of what they do or do not do with their make up? That’s silly. I think we are so past that… I could care less about trends, I never will care about trends, and I will always do what I want.I think most people feel the same way.

Speaking on trends that are coming up in certainly not to judge anyone who isn’t going to try these. The “popular” or “common” styles of makeup at any given time make up the “trends” of that era. Look at 30’s makeup trends. It was very different from makeup trends we have now. I’m all for women wearing makeup how they want to wear it, but I also love how makeup changes over time, it’s so interesting to me. Which is why I made this video, just for fun. It’s not that deep. 🤷🏻♀️✨
This is exact the same what I think and I‘m an older woman. Pale light make up with concealer lips and almost no blush would make older women look like sick and being near to death.
@@ginaneu2546 I think younger generations definitely have more of an influence on trends, which I personally wish it wasn’t so much that way. I absolutely love hearing about how women in their 50s, 60s and up are applying their makeup. It’s often a very different process but it is still absolutely beautiful!!

You can never go wrong with 90s makeup!! I'm glad the bold mouth is leaving! Never wore it, as it isn't cut out for my face shape. Plus, all you see is a pair of lips coming at you lol, instead of a total face experience. I'm so ready for the trend of essentially people frosting their noses and calling it "highlighter". Love the matte look you have in this video and that you did not frost up your nose!!!🎉🎉🎉
A nice deep burgundy mascara looks great on most women enhancing eye color! Burgundy eyeliner is beautiful, too! If you do wear that liner shade, always wear black mascara.😊😊😊 The shade lilac in blush will come back as well and lips too!
PLEASE make brown mascara! As a bright ginger lady, black has too much contrast and can look cheap. Brown, a real brown (which is nearly impossible to find) does give the definition. I know we red heads are not a huge group but I'm so pleased with this trend as it is right up our colour alley.
I hope there are more Brown Brand choices for our Fair hair Ladies, who are a smaller group. Thats why in 40yrs it has never taken off. Those of us with Black lashes, brown makes them disappear.
I have green eyes and I tried every colour mascara and I’m done testing mascaras,good quality black mascara will be always in the trend. also powder foundation not going to last too long, will be patchy for oily skin and dry for dry skin. Nothing can beat high quality liquid foundation which is very skin like .classy, smoky eyes will be amazing for you by the way. Thank you for your video.❤

These predictions are excellent and spot on, I see alot more people requesting their makeup done referencing the early “2000’s” with a more modern twist ; Smokey eye and nude lips, less blush and more shimmer/ frosty looks (which I also loveeee!!!!!) although I do love how my blush helps brighten up my face lol such an excellent video!!! And love your makeup very complimentary and beautiful! 😊

YESSS! There is definitely a huge wide open space in the market for actually a decent brown mascara. And multiple shades of brown. And other colors as well that enhance someone’s eye color. I’ve been waiting years and years for a make up company to open their eyes, (pun intended) to mascara possibilities.
The darkest lip liner is my personal brand, I am 61 years old, I have used it like this all my life and regardless of fashion opinions I will never stop using it. Thanks for your content! Happy holidays to all...🎄🎄🎄
I'm really glad that there are so many choices and formulas now days. It's not one fits all. Also I like to change up my look. I like being blush and eye blind but sometimes I want a more subtle look or something in between. That's what's great about makeup!
The colorful mascaras I did back in high school and my 20s. I’m 66 and prefer my basic black; since I don’t wear liner nor false lashes , black mascara gives me the definition I need. Metallic lip is my vibe; they look beautiful on my aging lips. The nude lip and dark liner was my jam in my 30s, but still love it. Love blushes!! With bronzer and any blush you get that blush look you’re speaking of.

4:49 we’ve already done this trend in the 90s , they’re iconic for a reason and I’m always down for a sparkly single color eyeshadow look, kinda like my fave glittery nail polish from OPI called “Princesses Rule” sparkly delicate peachy pink would go well with the Huda Beauty Icy Palette
Wow, some of the trends you mentioned have been coming to my mind lately, like using no blush or less blush, shimmery ethereal eyeshadow and frosty lips. It happens with accessories too. I start liking a trend before it comes out. The only downside is not being able to find what I'm looking for easily since it's not a trend yet. Happy to know I still have it ✨️

As for the 2025 trends, if I like the idea and the look, then I may go for it, but if not, then I will do my own thing, lol. I never liked the way blush looked on me (especially bright), and every time i put it on i thought it ruined my makeup look. I'll be so glad to skip it! I also love pale nude lip colors - they make my mature lips look bigger and hide imperfections. I'm also drawn to very sparkling high reflecting eye shadows and lip glosses. And finally, I'm extremely oily, and I'm so happy the glossy/greasy/goopie era is ending, and powders are coming back!

I love coloured mascaras, and I don't care if they are on trend or not. Brown and Burgundy are my go-to's for every day. I also love Blue Mascara and that will be the one item I will definitely be getting myself in 2025.
Stock up on the colors you like, because they always come and go. If they dry out, add a couple of drops of Contact solution. Brings it right back.👍 The chlorine in Tap water separates the wax and it becomes runny. All your product is sitting at the bottom of the tube. ☺
Hi, brown mascara is exciting! Preferably one that doesn't have a red hue. For the smokey / eye grunge trend, add a bit of brown, forrest, or navy to the mix. All black and black with gray can make fair skin look jaundice. ❤ your channel.
Love the french look. I'm all for a classic natural makeup look. Whatever the trend will be, I stick with what I like and fits me best. I'm not big on flowing mainstream. But whatever floats everyones boat. 😊
I'm literally reliving my life. I'm an 1981 baby and was a teenager in the 90s. When i was in grade 7-8 ( thats '95+96) we were wearing dark spicey lips. What you all call vamp, but for us was just very in, very 90210, very madonna, jennifer anniston. I used to wear mac spice liner all over my lips, or anabelle rum raison lip liner. Liner was great because it was ultra matte and didnt smudge. We loved matte. Think mac studio fix powder all over your face. Dusty!!! Cough cough. And think chokers, short hair cuts, bobs with ends that flip out, then really short pixie cuts. Then in grade 9, i started putting the spice liner on the border of my lips only. The inside was usually just my foundation lol. But then did buy some nude lipsticks, usually mac, but lots of drug sttore stuff, can't remember names. The eyes were very stark black liner. Pencil, gel, liquid, you name it, lots of liner. And waterline liner was our life. I remember in grade 10 we started doing white liner just above our black liner. That was a huge trend and everyone was doing it. Then as i went into grade11, the lip liner switched to plum by mac. So less nude browns on the face, to more plum pinks on the face. So my lips had a stark plum line with a lighter pink sometimes light pink/ purple lipstick. Less nudes. Eyes were always frosted silvery shadow now. Taking the white liner on the lines, and expanding that brightness to the entire lid now. Always one colour shadow by the way. No transition colours. We all had cut creases, lol. And we used those wand sponge applicators, which honestly, are so good for those hard to apply shadows. Especially the shimmery ones. What we now call "toppers" and we use fingers for, we just used as our full eyeshadow colour, and we didn't use fingers, we used those sponge wands. They were pointy as well, and you can put them anywhere. They were hienatyly great, and I think I want to buy them again. This is when i started putting shimmer in the inner corners, as well. That was a new technique. Eyeshadows were frosted and shimmery as F. The more blinding the better. Then as i got into grade 12, then uni, it was drop the lipliners, but keep the frost. Lips were just always frosted, no matter what. We were all ice queens.. Lipsticks, gloss, body creams, hair sprays, nailpolish, eyeshadows, in all colours now, light blues, pinks, purples, silvers, light greens, shifty, you name it. Strobe powders for your eyebrow bones and tops of cheeks. It was very space agey type of makeup- that's how we saw it. I wore a lot of silver at that time too. By the way, in all of this, there was no blush. Just bronzers, foundations that are too dark, and skin was to be flat and hidden away. We wanted the skin to be one colour and disappear, make the eyes and lips pop out. But being orange was great, lol. It made you look healhty, made your eyes and teeth look whiter, your blonde, blonder, haha. Looking back, it looks horrible now. But back then you were the sh!t. I remember bronzer on all my clothing, all the time.... Nothing done to eyebrows either. Just keep them as plucked as possible. We thought we looked more femme with them thin. Thick eyebrows were seen as masculine. That takes is to the early 2000s- and there you have it. This is what was going on up until that time. If you're wondering, I'm an italian girl, went to an all girls achool in toronto, and always loved makeup. I would hold makeup sessions in the locker areas for all the girls, we would all look EXACTLY the same by 3pm. 😆 I used to bring a HUGE makeup case to school everyday. Its hilarious, because 20 years later and sometimes i hardly touch up at work. I have a gloss with me, that's it. I took the craft so seriously. Lol. But still love makeup and have evolved with the times, etc. Iwould say my fav makeup era is right now though. I love the natural skin movement. The skincare emphasis that was brought on by the pandemic. We now see what korea has been doing all along and its a much more beautiful way to approach makeup. This is my longest comment ever lol. I think i just enjoyed going down memory lane. If no one reads this, at least I've just become a historian and if we have an apocolypse, I've recorded some makeup history. 😅😅 Cheers girlies. Enjoy your beautiful, young faces. They change with time. Still beautiful as we age, but there is nothing like our youth. Even just the feeling of being carefree, etc. Enjoy it all! They are perfect if you want to apply a shimmer or reach your inner corner, especially if you have nails. They have several different types, even ones with a longer wand.😊❤ And I had a large Caboodle in high school that was 90210 themed, lol(still have it)

I loove brown mascara and can’t wait for more brands to release actual true brown shades. As someone super pale, I love how brown mascara doesn’t look too harsh on me and how if it’s actually a chocolatey or warmer brown shade it can bring out my green eyes. This is something I’ve worn for years but have had such a hard time finding actually brown shades with formulas and mascara wands I like as I abhor the poky plastic mascara wands, I’m all here for this trend and hope more brands bring out quality brown mascara shades.

It's kinda funny that this "blush blindness" is such a thing. I'm 60, I was 18 in 1982....we wore BLUSH! Man did we wear blush! (go back and watch When Harry Met Sally and look at Meg Ryan's blush). I loved it then and I love it now. I do own several "neutral" shades and have always worn them as well as the pinky/peaches. It's gonna be fun to look back on this video and see what happens in 2025. I am new to your channel and enjoy your content. I am listening while putting on my own makeup, and am wearing brown mascara. I don't care what they do with blush. I am a blush girlie. I do enjoy colored mascara and have loved it for years. I think it is a fun way to occasionally add a fun pop to your look. Of course, I'm 51, so I was around in the late 80s when it first became a trend.

I am almost 50. At my age, you use makeup to bring vibrancy back to your face. Why would you skip blush and give yourself cadaver lips? A lot of these trends are a no-go for women over 40.

I’ve already decided to try to do a no-buy of makeup in 2025……unless absolutely necessary. I have plenty of makeup and want to work with what I have.
I'm doing the same. I've bought the same product twice cause I do have alot & it's time to use those that I have instead of looking for something better. I was happy with NYC powder blush after years of liquids and it's called Butter blush the color is " butta with time", pretty. It's a powder but so soft it feels great & looks like I going my color. Think it was only like $13 bucks at Walgreens. They have some good makeup there. In case anyone cares, I can't spend hundreds of $$$ on makeup so.. but that's me! I've been wearing brown mascara exclusively for 30 years. The color is so much softer and flatters light skin and light hair much more than black, even with brown eyes, especially since I'm older. If brown mascara becomes a trend, I'll be happy because there will certainly be a lot more choice of different products.

I think the brown mascara trend started early this year. When I walk into Sephora I can find at least 4 big brands that carry a brown mascara. I, too, have been a brown mascara wearer for 30 years and it has been really difficult to find one in brown until early this year. The closest thing we used to have in the drugstore was the Maybelline great lash in brownish black.....which was really just black! 😂 Almay has one in the drugstore that was a staple for me.
@ so true! Brownish black in my opinion was just muddied brown. I love a true rich brown :) I haven’t found a brand that makes one that checks all the boxes for me so I do feel like I need to take matters into my own hands for this one 👀👀

Trends is for Tiktokers, RUclipsrs and Influencers cause they film make up videos daily. Normal people only need a simple way to apply makeup daily and a few glam or classy make up style for party. We can change our layout of makeup any time. I don't need to feel FOMO to buy all of the new release cosmetics just to follow a trend, but I do enjoy watching pretty girls have fun with trends on social media.
Trends are for anyone wanting to try them out and explore colour , technique or creativity, makeup is an art form, you can still have fun with makeup 😊 therefore, you don’t have to follow every trend, just the ones you like and make you feel good/confident ❤

She's still struggle with her salary buy buying stuffs like an influencer, she watchs Tiktok but not doing Tiktok so she got FOMO. She just keeps buying things but don't have chance to use them then just ask me and my mom for money in the end of the months 😞 She cried because she has to work all the time but don't have enough money to go travel. I said you spend all your money to buy cosmetic, just save money for the more important things. But she doesn't listen to me 😞
She sounds like a lot of fun. Trends are ideas for you to try and see if you like them. Otherwise, you would remain in a makeup routine of boring colors and applications.

The skin tone can make the difference between black and brown mascara. I have brown eyes and I wear only brown mascara. Black looks unnatural. Everyone should try brown mascara. And it does not really looks like brown.

I don't know where you live but I never stopped using matte makeup and powders and it wasn't an issue
I’m 58 and finally found my every day make up look. I’ve stopped using foundation and just use concealer. Pot concealer that I’ve bought in bulk in case it’s ever discontinued and is the shade rose porcelain which covers any redness. I then set my face with baby powder after a lifetime of buying expensive face powder. Charcoal not black eyeliner or dark brown on my lash line and under my eyes and a matching eyeshadow in a hoop shape in my eye socket. I wear blusher in a pinky peach and a highlighter on the top of cheekbones. Mascara. I overline my lips in Rimmel hazel eyebrow pencil as it’s a neutral colour and gives my lips definition. A pale pink or peach tones lipstick worn over a lip balm and I’m good to go.
Good for you, I'm sure you're beautiful, sounds pretty... At my age , 70, it's 😢difficult to wear lipstick on my wrinkled lips & face. Botox would never do , I'd need Dr. Debrow for the full effect. But, I'm doing what my Grandmother did, just accepting it. I'm going to try the brown idea, my eyes aren't bad at all .. but the bottom half just FEEL! OMG... 😮😢❤️🇱🇷🍀🙏💜😘

I've been doing that for years - concealer & powder, no foundation. It's even better now I got completely rid of all my face hair. Mainly cause I've huge pores, & greasy skin. Glad you've pots & pots of your fave concealer, to make sure you last the apocalypse. 😊

I don’t think people really follow trends anymore. They just do what they want. A trend is exploited only for the purpose of selling a certain kind of makeup. That’s it. Has nothing to do with that looks good on women or not. I think women are smart enough to put on whatever makeup they like, whatever make up makes them look good, and be happy with it. Who are we to judge anybody else because of what they do or do not do with their make up? That’s silly. I think we are so past that… I could care less about trends, I never will care about trends, and I will always do what I want.I think most people feel the same way.

Look at 30’s makeup trends. It was very different from makeup trends we have now. I’m all for women wearing makeup how they want to wear it, but I also love how makeup changes over time, it’s so interesting to me. Which is why I made this video, just for fun. This is exact the same what I think and I‘m an older woman. Pale light make up with concealer lips and almost no blush would make older women look like sick and being near to death.

I absolutely love hearing about how women in their 50s, 60s and up are applying their makeup. It’s often a very different process but it is still absolutely beautiful!!

You can never go wrong with 90s makeup!! I'm glad the bold mouth is leaving! Never wore it, as it isn't cut out for my face shape. Plus, all you see is a pair of lips coming at you lol, instead of a total face experience. I'm so ready for the trend of essentially people frosting their noses and calling it "highlighter". A nice deep burgundy mascara looks great on most women enhancing eye color! Burgundy eyeliner is beautiful, too! If you do wear that liner shade, always wear black mascara.😊😊😊

PLEASE make brown mascara! As a bright ginger lady, black has too much contrast and can look cheap. Brown, a real brown (which is nearly impossible to find) does give the definition. I know we red heads are not a huge group but I'm so pleased with this trend as it is right up our colour alley.
I hope there are more Brown Brand choices for our Fair hair Ladies, who are a smaller group. Thats why in 40yrs it has never taken off. Those of us with Black lashes, brown makes them disappear.
I have green eyes and I tried every colour mascara and I’m done testing mascaras,good quality black mascara will be always in the trend. also powder foundation not going to last too long, will be patchy for oily skin and dry for dry skin. Nothing can beat high quality liquid foundation which is very skin like .classy, smoky eyes will be amazing for you by the way. Thank you for your video.❤

These predictions are excellent and spot on, I see alot more people requesting their makeup done referencing the early “2000’s” with a more modern twist ; Smokey eye and nude lips, less blush and more shimmer/ frosty looks (which I also loveeee!!!!!) although I do love how my blush helps brighten up my face lol such an excellent video!!! I'm really glad that there are so many choices and formulas now days. It's not one fits all. Also I like to change up my look. I like being blush and eye blind but sometimes I want a more subtle look or something in between. That's what's great about makeup!

The colorful mascaras I did back in high school and my 20s. I’m 66 and prefer my basic black; since I don’t wear liner nor false lashes , black mascara gives me the definition I need.
Metallic lip is my vibe; they look beautiful on my aging lips.

Wow, some of the trends you mentioned have been coming to my mind lately, like using no blush or less blush, shimmery ethereal eyeshadow and frosty lips. It happens with accessories too. Hello Amanda! I love wearing brown mascara and eyeliners. A true classic, deep brown is my favorite. I definitely added my name to the list to be notified of a future mascara!!! As for the 2025 trends, if I like the idea and the look, then I may go for it, but if not, then I will do my own thing, lol. I like to do my own thing in makeup, anyhow, to express my own beauty and personality. I do not like the names of the CT fragrances, either. I do like and actually own a bottle of “More Sex”, but I get so embarrassed when people ask me what scent I am wearing, it just doesn’t sound proper. Oh well, it’s the world we are living in now.

I never liked the way blush looked on me (especially bright), and every time i put it on i thought it ruined my makeup look. I'll be so glad to skip it! I also love pale nude lip colors - they make my mature lips look bigger and hide imperfections. I'm also drawn to very sparkling high reflecting eye shadows and lip glosses. And finally, I'm extremely oily, and I'm so happy the glossy/greasy/goopie era is ending, and powders are coming back!

I love coloured mascaras, and I don't care if they are on trend or not. Brown and Burgundy are my go-to's for every day. I also love Blue Mascara and that will be the one item I will definitely be getting myself in 2025.
Stock up on the colors you like, because they always come and go. If they dry out, add a couple of drops of Contact solution. Brings it right back.👍 The chlorine in Tap water separates the wax and it becomes runny. All your product is sitting at the bottom of the tube. ☺

Hi, brown mascara is exciting! Preferably one that doesn't have a red hue. For the smokey / eye grunge trend, add a bit of brown, forrest, or navy to the mix. All black and black with gray can make fair skin look jaundice. ❤ your channel.

Love the french look. I'm all for a classic natural makeup look. Whatever the trend will be, I stick with what I like and fits me best. I'm not big on flowing mainstream. But whatever floats everyones boat. 😊

I'm literally reliving my life. I'm an 1981 baby and was a teenager in the 90s. When i was in grade 7-8 ( thats '95+96) we were wearing dark spicey lips. What you all call vamp, but for us was just very in, very 90210, very madonna, jennifer anniston. I used to wear mac spice liner all over my lips, or anabelle rum raison lip liner. Liner was great because it was ultra matte and didnt smudge. We loved matte. Think mac studio fix powder all over your face. Dusty!!! Cough cough. And think chokers, short hair cuts, bobs with ends that flip out, then really short pixie cuts. Then in grade 9, i started putting the spice liner on the border of my lips only. The inside was usually just my foundation lol. But then did buy some nude lipsticks, usually mac, but lots of drug sttore stuff, can't remember names. The eyes were very stark black liner. Pencil, gel, liquid, you name it, lots of liner. And waterline liner was our life. I remember in grade 10 we started doing white liner just above our black liner. That was a huge trend and everyone was doing it. Then as i went into grade11, the lip liner switched to plum by mac. So less nude browns on the face, to more plum pinks on the face. So my lips had a stark plum line with a lighter pink sometimes light pink/ purple lipstick. Less nudes. Eyes were always frosted silvery shadow now. Taking the white liner on the lines, and expanding that brightness to the entire lid now. Always one colour shadow by the way. No transition colours. We all had cut creases, lol. And we used those wand sponge applicators, which honestly, are so good for those hard to apply shadows. Especially the shimmery ones. What we now call "toppers" and we use fingers for, we just used as our full eyeshadow colour, and we didn't use fingers, we used those sponge wands. They were pointy as well, and you can put them anywhere. They were hienatyly great, and I think I want to buy them again. This is when i started putting shimmer in the inner corners, as well. That was a new technique. Eyeshadows were frosted and shimmery as F. The more blinding the better. Then as i got into grade 12, then uni, it was drop the lipliners, but keep the frost. Lips were just always frosted, no matter what. We were all ice queens.. Lipsticks, gloss, body creams, hair sprays, nailpolish, eyeshadows, in all colours now, light blues, pinks, purples, silvers, light greens, shifty, you name it. Strobe powders for your eyebrow bones and tops of cheeks. It was very space agey type of makeup- that's how we saw it. I wore a lot of silver at that time too. By the way, in all of this, there was no blush. Just bronzers, foundations that are too dark, and skin was to be flat and hidden away. We wanted the skin to be one colour and disappear, make the eyes and lips pop out. But being orange was great, lol. It made you look healhty, made your eyes and teeth look whiter, your blonde, blonder, haha. Looking back, it looks horrible now. But back then you were the sh!t. I remember bronzer on all my clothing, all the time.... Nothing done to eyebrows either. Just keep them as plucked as possible. We thought we looked more femme with them thin. Thick eyebrows were seen as masculine. That takes is to the early 2000s- and there you have it. This is what was going on up until that time. If you're wondering, I'm an italian girl, went to an all girls achool in toronto, and always loved makeup. I would hold makeup sessions in the locker areas for all the girls, we would all look EXACTLY the same by 3pm. 😆 I used to bring a HUGE makeup case to school everyday. Its hilarious, because 20 years later and sometimes i hardly touch up at work. I have a gloss with me, that's it. I took the craft so seriously. Lol. But still love makeup and have evolved with the times, etc. Iwould say my fav makeup era is right now though. I love the natural skin movement. The skincare emphasis that was brought on by the pandemic. We now see what korea has been doing all along and its a much more beautiful way to approach makeup.
This is my longest comment ever lol. I think i just enjoyed going down memory lane. If no one reads this, at least I've just become a historian and if we have an apocolypse, I've recorded some makeup history. 😅😅

And I recently bought some of those sponge tip applicators from Amazon. They are perfect if you want to apply a shimmer or reach your inner corner, especially if you have nails. They have several different types, even ones with a longer wand.😊❤

I loove brown mascara and can’t wait for more brands to release actual true brown shades. As someone super pale, I love how brown mascara doesn’t look too harsh on me and how if it’s actually a chocolatey or warmer brown shade it can bring out my green eyes. This is something I’ve worn for years but have had such a hard time finding actually brown shades with formulas and mascara wands I like as I abhor the poky plastic mascara wands, I’m all here for this trend and hope more brands bring out quality brown mascara shades.
I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve internally said “absolutely not” while listening to these. 😂

It's kinda funny that this "blush blindness" is such a thing. I'm 60, I was 18 in 1982....we wore BLUSH! Man did we wear blush! (go back and watch When Harry Met Sally and look at Meg Ryan's blush). I loved it then and I love it now. I do own several "neutral" shades and have always worn them as well as the pinky/peaches. It's gonna be fun to look back on this video and see what happens in 2025. I am new to your channel and enjoy your content. I am listening while putting on my own makeup, and am wearing brown mascara. I don't care what they do with blush. I am a blush girlie. I do enjoy colored mascara and have loved it for years. I think it is a fun way to occasionally add a fun pop to your look. Of course, I'm 51, so I was around in the late 80s when it first became a trend.
