Watch this to learn how to sew these joggers: • Step-By-Step Instructi...
Tools Needed:
🧵 Pattern Paper
🧵 Ruler
🧵 French Curve
🧵 Tape Measure
🧵 Pen & Pencil
🧵 Sharpener & Eraser
🧵 Marker
🧵 Measurements
Measurements Needed:
📍Waist Circumference
📍 Hip Circumference
📍 Hip Depth (Waist to Hip)
📍 Crotch Depth (Waist to Crotch)
📍 Length of Pants
Steps:
1. Draw a horizontal and vertical line representing the waist and pants length respectively.
2. Draw a 1” space for the elastic waistband and another 1” space for the waistband to be folded unto.
3. Measure from the top of the second 1” space to the hem of the pants. This should measure the length of your pants.
4. Draw a 1” space for the elastic that will go into the hem of the joggers.
5. From the top of the second 1” space at the waist, measure down your hip depth (waist to hip) and mark. Square a line out from your mark using the L-square.
6. Measure again from the second 1” space at the waist, down your crotch depth (waist to crotch) and mark. Square a line out from your mark using the L-Square.
7. Divide your hip circumference by 4 and add 1/2” then mark on the waist line, hip line and crotch line.
8. Extend the crotch line by 2”.
9. Use the L-square to connect the waist line, hip line and crotch line.
10. Draw a 1” line out from the corner of the crotch line.
11. Use the french curve to draw in a curve and ensure that it touches the horizontal line, the vertical line and the diagonal line that you drew out from the corner.
12. Divide your ankle circumference by 2 and add an extra 1” or more and mark it on the hem line.
13. Use the metre rule to connect the crotch line and the hem line with a straight line.
14. Add 1/2” allowance around the pattern except for the top of the waist and the bottom of the hem and label your pattern.
15. Cut it out from the pattern paper and retrace it into another piece of pattern paper.
16. Extend the crotch by 1 1/2” and draw a line connecting the new crotch to the hem. This is the back of your pattern. Cut it out.
17. For the side seam pocket, draw a vertical line and from that vertical line freestyle a pocket that will fit your hand, a phone if you’d like and any other item(s) you might put inside.
18. Add 1/2” allowance around the pocket, label it and cut it out.
And that’s it!
If you want to make shorts instead of pants, make the length equal to the length you want your shorts and ignore the steps for the hem. Simple add 1/2” allowance to the hem.

Hi there love ya tutorials.. where do you get ya pattern paper from?
So very helpful..im not so scared anymore. Thank you! New subscriber!
yaaay!
I’m glad you feel more empowered :)
@@sewquaint me too!
New to your page. Very Helpful videos :)
Thank you for this
Amazing thank you! x
This is great! Thank you. I watched you put the pants together and it looked like you added a pocket facing or some kind of gusset next to the pocket at the side seams. Can you show us?
I also saw something at that point that I didn’t understand but I’m not sure how often she replies to comments because I want to know how to alter this to make a mens joggers 🏃🏾♂️
great pattern instructions..How do you determine the grain line please?
Hey, when you say determine the grainline do you mean when cutting out the fabric pieces or when drafting the pattern?
When you did the first pattern piece. You added 1/2 seam allowance on the first pattern. BUT THEN YOU ADDED ANOTHER LINE DOWN THE THE SEAM ALLOWANCE OF THE PATTERN, WHICH WAS A SIDE WAY LINE. WHY DID YOU ADDED NEXT TO THE SEAM ALLOWANCE LINE? Go to your video at time 11:54. That is where u put the extra line.
Where would we mark the fold line on our pattern ? Also are we supposed to fold our fabric selvedge-selvedge? Im using a 2way stretch.
Hi..beautiful design..love your work..but Could I add darts to this design to create a more tighter upper finish?
Yes you can. As long as it can still pass your hips.
Thank you so much god blesse you 🙏❤
it’s my pleasure. glad you found it helpful 🙏🏽
Can this method be use for regular pants?
thanksssss
Can this same pattern be converted to making regular pant with the elastic band waist? ( I don’t like having the elastic on my ankles😊 thanks for this video
Yes it can. You don’t have to put the elastic in the ankles.
Where did you buy the pa paper at.
Can I use this method to create jeans?
Im gone try doing mine..can you draw a pattern for the hoody top plse
I’ll consider it
Great turorial, but Can you show us how to make joggers pants for men?
You are fantastic! Love your video I am going to try it !
thank you! happy creating ✨
❤️
Where I get tripped up is... when cutting, am I placing right sides kissing? And then, for some reason, one of my legs is ALWAYS longer than the other😟 what do I need to fix? I’ve waisted SO much trial fabric. I just really want to make my own clothes😔 please help
When you are going to do back pattern (on paper first) place front pattern on back then from hem of the pattern to where the crotch ends make sure the measurement is the same. Usually you have to lower the back crotch depth. So trim off some of the back depth to match the front crotch depth. Hope that helps.
CAN I USE THIS PATTERN FOR MENS JOGGERS?
Hey, yes you can!
@@sewquaint do I need to modify anything for male? For example I saw a person raise the waist level of the back pattern…? Please help because I’m at the “pattern part” 🙏🏿
Would it be the same procedure to make one of this pant for a 7 year old girl?
yup. just take her measurements and do the same thing.
@@sewquaint awesome
Can this technique work for drafting leggings? Seems so easy. Having a hard time drafting
that’s gonna be my next video :)
@@sewquaint yay! So this technique will only work for joggers? Could you tell me How much would I take off at the ankle for leggings?
well, you’d have to make it exact to the measurement of your ankles. so if your ankles are a circumference of 10” you’d make it 5” going across then fold the fabric when you’re cutting
@@sewquaint Could you tell me what measurements will be divided by 4 and what measurements by 2? Also I would still need to measure waist to ankle like you did in this video. How much would I take off at knee and ankle to make pant tight?
You did such a good job explaining!
