Great stuff, David. These are basically the numbers I've landed on as well after a bunch of research. Making a living at this is not easy, and people don't realize how much work goes into it behind the scenes.
This has to be the BEST. explanation on how to figure out your worth. The same applies to podcasts. When it all comes down to it, you have to know your numbers, know your audience, and most importantly, know what you're worth! I'll be definitely sending people this video when I get asked this question.
Thanks for this. I'm assuming that if I am paid by a brand for a 20 second shout out, I would turn ads off for that video so that only the sponsor gets the attention?
how to calculate number of views per video after 30 days ? for example analytics shows number of views per 30 days , now we gotta divide by number of videos created in our channel ?
Appreciate your videos man... Also giving me a little motivation. Ive got a list of a couple hundred wood working ideas at the moment. Gonna try and make the tranition to a shop over jobsite. Thumbs Up!
I have been thinking of starting my own channel for a couple years.Thank you very much David for sharing your experience and information👌.I'm a huge fan of your craftsmanship.
Thank you for that no bull video really helped me after watching a number of other videos yours stands out. So thank you. I am interested in your patreon approach giving people the extended videos over there. I mapped out a patreon membership but it's building really slowly and wonder if your "extended part of the video" is going well for you. I see you have a good number of patrons. Would you say that was from this approach or are they loyal subscribers that have loved what you do for a while now. Thanks again, really insightful.
Appreciate your videos..Great stuff. I have another question:) What about if some one want to buy the rights of your video to use it into the documentary. We talking about 30 sec good quality video. How much I can charge per sec fees? Thanks
Bah, I subscribed before, but for some reason, RUclips unsubscribed me. Thanks for the info, having consistency among the creators helps everyone and will hopefully stop people from underbidding.
What? This is way to far fetched... no one would be able to afford a placement on my channel. I’d have to start charging $33,000 to place an add on my video. Not sure how happy my sponsor would feel about that 😂
This is extremely extremely helpful. Have been scratching my head over this for quite some time now. I had a sub-question though. The cost that a creator arrives at...does that have to be upfront? I mean there a lot of brands out there that are open to paying but not upfront. They might want to do so via an affiliate program where they can share up to 50%-70% revenue but only be ready to spend a small cost upfront owing to the size of their marketing spends. This actually pans out really well if the brand and the creator's audience have a great fit and the video can influence people to make purchases. Do you think creators are open to this kind of a set-up and is recommended that they be, or should they just vouch for an upfront payment?
thanks for the content! btw did you make that shirt? i am thinking of screen printing that shirt on my own if you don't already make it for sale. If you do then ill purchase it from you, don't want to knock off "the man" lol.
How much negotiation is expected? If you say my rate is X and they come back with an offer of Y, are they expecting you to come back with Z somewhere in between?
It depends. Many times I just say this is my rate and It's a take it or leave it situation. If you're going to negotiate then start with the higher number in the range.
Great video! Very helpful with no bull. :) How do I determine the average views of my videos over 30 days? I can do it manually, but that is time-consuming and I didn't see a way to filter my stats in RUclips Studio. Thx,
You'd want a FAIRLY good conversion rate. What I NOTICE MOST is that they have some type of discount code and I assumed that they would get a PERCENTAGE CUT but it might be more JUST a thing to see what influencers are ACTUALLY getting them sales.
What if I wanna charge a local business via "today's episode is brought to you by" blah blah. For instance I video my podcast for example. Since youtube/Google isn't paying me, my client is...do I need to abide by the RUclips monetization criteria?
I may never be a notable content creator, but I really appreciate these videos because I now know how views, likes, and comments help you (and other awesome RUclipsrs) get more revenue. Although some of them are likely tired of the lame jokes.
"something that is too off the wall" I'm remembering a certain rockler promo from a while back haha maybe you're speaking from experience! But seriously, the real talk in this video is refreshing and helpful!
Great stuff, David. These are basically the numbers I've landed on as well after a bunch of research. Making a living at this is not easy, and people don't realize how much work goes into it behind the scenes.
I've heard that one somewhere before ;) Great info as usual. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

The same applies to podcasts.

Thank you for posting this!! This really took away some of the mystery around pricing!!
You are a life saver David!
Thanks for this. I'm assuming that if I am paid by a brand for a 20 second shout out, I would turn ads off for that video so that only the sponsor gets the attention?
Thanks Man, hitting my first brand deal 😊
Great series David! This is awesome and very useful information!
I've always been curious on how content creators made a living doing this. I am looking foward to learning more on this subject
Great advice thanks for sharing!
Great info David. Not too relevant to my channel - yet - but hopefully as it grows then it will be more so. Thanks for sharing.
Great information! I did the math for myself, and determined I can't afford what I'd owe to the sponsors. ;-)
Pot o gold. More numbers are always good!
Unless it’s tax
Thank you do much for this video!

A brand reached out to me. They want a commercial on my channel to my Pre roll duration 60 seconds. I'm confused.

You're blowing my mind with these numbers. I average 50k-100k per video each month...
Bah, I subscribed before, but for some reason, RUclips unsubscribed me. Thanks for the info, having consistency among the creators helps everyone and will hopefully stop people from underbidding.
This has happened lots lately.
Oh man, off the wall... I know about that.
this is the first really good video on this topic. you really add something of value here David. Keep it up.
Interesting, I didn't know about socialblade. Thank you for sharing this information!
Love this! Thank u
Are These numbers still relevant? It just has been 7 years.
Wow interesting thank you !

Well add it up and a proper education to spell "Ad" is priceless.. #StayInSchoolYaIdiot

You made a very helpful video
Wait do you mean eg. 100,000 views on average per video over a month or 100,000 total views in a month?? Thanks
ItsFrenchy per video
Great video. You misspelled "channel" in multi channel network
thanks for the content! btw did you make that shirt? i am thinking of screen printing that shirt on my own if you don't already make it for sale. If you do then ill purchase it from you, don't want to knock off "the man" lol.

:) That video wasn't technically a sponsored video. I did it without them knowing. Turns out they loved it!
Are you part of an MCN? I remember y'all talking about it on the podcast but it's been a while?
+Michael Gomez I am. I'm in a 6 month trial period
Awesome tips, I'm currently on 150 subs hopefully will get above 200 soon. Thanks for the help.
should we add the amount subs in the formula?
Nice I am an artist myself! great info!
Me too, I have a few brands wondering about sponsoring me, so knowing this will help in the long run.
Even though I can only make £20-£50 at a push per video, my commissions will save me to getting food lol.
Sticky and Art together really thrills me, mind if I look at your channel?
