    Nice 4th gen ecodisc. I like it

    Kind of crazy how they went for a custom LCD produced in the thousands, rather than millions instead of graphical. The price difference is actually not that big at this number of units.

      @TheLiftDragon  3 года назад

      Yeah, that's interesting. I think that the manufacturers want to make their installations more distinguishable from others this way. Schindler and Otis too have their own custom displays for example.

    Attention is Kone EcoSpace because the push-button panel and kss 280 and no ecodisc because ecodisc together with Monospace and min8s0ace have as push-button panels kss 420 kss 430 kss 470 except this is the kss 280!

    • @TheLiftDragon
      @TheLiftDragon  2 года назад

      You are confusing things. The EcoDisc is the name of the motor and these lifts both have EcoDiscs as motors, as you can see in the video. EcoSpace is the name of a model of lift.
      The type of buttons doe NOT indicate what model of lift it is, since the KSS280 fixtures are available in the MonoSpace, MiniSpace and TranSys as well.

    Don't know why they go only 1 m/s, since NMX11 is capable of 900kg at 1.75 m/s and 400kg at 2.5 m/s!

    • @TheLiftDragon
      @TheLiftDragon  3 года назад

      The smaller one is a NMX07.
      The building owner probably just went for the cheapest solution I guess.

      @@TheLiftDragon Oh yeah, didn't notice that. Since NMX07 is like a scaled down version of NMX11 except for the yellow disc part with a different texture.

    It's too rare that the management choose MonoSpace for replacement of the older elevators with machine room, since most of them usually choose MiniSpace.

    • @TheLiftDragon
      @TheLiftDragon  3 года назад

      Yep, definitely. I haven't even found one MonoSpace yet. Although it has to be said that Kone has a much smaller market share than Schindler and other brands here in Switzerland.

    Why is there a Motor room? Just wondering

    • @TheLiftDragon
      @TheLiftDragon  Год назад +2

      The building is from the early 70s and the original lifts from 1971 used this motor room as of course MRLs did not exist back then. You can still see the foundations of the old machines in the video.

    Those definitely seem too slow for their application.

    • @TheLiftDragon
      @TheLiftDragon  Год назад +1

      They indeed are, 1.6m/s would have been prefereable. Even the old lifs most certainly were faster, with a speed of probably 1.2m/s as it was common in most larger residential towers back then.

    What a shame to have put these beautiful MRL elevators while a machine room is present on the roof of the building.
    Personally, gearless MRLs tend to deserve the fact that they no longer have the machinery in a room and on these elevators it is even worse because the room is half used for the control of the elevators so why Kone does not Didn't he put the machines back in this room?
    Otherwise beautiful video: D

    • @TheLiftDragon
      @TheLiftDragon  3 года назад

      Thank you!
      Well, that's the way things are done today, mostly. Schindler installs 3300s and 5500s and rarely something else. And so Kone mostly installs EcoDiscs. I have already seen a Setup with EcoDiscs in a motor room but they are extreeeemely rare.
      Technically, they could also have installed the logic cabinet on the top floor here, that would have made things more compact. But in the end the motor room is on the roof and has to be accessed via a ladder, therefore it is not suitable for any other use.
      In general, I like the MRL design of the EcoDisc and also the 5500 is a very good MRL. My only real problem with the lifts here is the accel/decel an the speed. In my opinion it's just too slow for such a high building.

    • @ElevatorExploration
      @ElevatorExploration 3 года назад

      @@TheLiftDragon Yes indeed, today most of the elevators are MRL's but I don't like that because I got stuck a few times in elevators and always in MRL's. So for me the MRL's are really not good lifts and the fact that everything is compact and in duct does not allow easy repair (told me a technician)
      and there is also the fact that I prefer the elevators with machine room because I like to see large winch machine with old relay contactors which often make a nice sound when operating unlike silent and still gearless (silent ) that's a big word.

    • @TheLiftDragon
      @TheLiftDragon  3 года назад +1

      @@ElevatorExploration Yeah, that's definetely a point. In order to reach the motor, you have to have the car at the 2nd floor from top, because you have to be on top of the car. It makes everything more complicated, that's true.
      I filmed a really nice Schindler lift with relay logic today, everything original from 1967. That was epic.
      But I also like the modern stuff IF it's done proberly. So gearless motors, high acceleration and fast lifts. Sadly though, that is not always the case even with modern installations. Many building owners just go for cheap lifts and that pisses me off. Just like here, these two lifts should be in a group and 1.6 m/s. (Note: The old Gebauer lifts probably were 1.2m/s, so the new lifts are even slower than before) Then I would really love the setup and the EcoDiscs are even available witj much faster speeds than 1.6! But I've only seen the 1m/s version in Switzerland so far, what a shame.

    • @ElevatorExploration
      @ElevatorExploration 3 года назад

      @@TheLiftDragon Of course the gearless machines are fast in general but you have reason, many building owners just go for cheap lifts.
      In itself, I prefer gearless in machine rooms to those in the shaft.

    No clicking for floor impulses unlike the 1st gen

    • @TheLiftDragon
      @TheLiftDragon  2 года назад

      Since all generations of LCE can do advanced door opening, they all have safety relays that click when the car enters the door zone of the destination floor. The relays only click at the destination floor and not on the floors in between unlike the 1st generation. However, the relays can't be heard in the ex motor room anyway in this video because they're in the control cabinet in the shaft. What you can see here is not the LCE, it's just a repeater board. The actual LCE is in the shaft. You can hear the relays from the car top though when the lift is near the top floor. At 5:54 the lift leaves the door zone and at 5:58 it enters the next one. Also at 7:19 for the small lift.
