Oh my gosh! How wonderful is this video. I have a piece that has birds and couldn’t figure out how to make the eyes. French knot is perfect. Thank you.
I would like your beginner rug hooking videos. Where are your other teaching videos so I can follow along and keep learning. Love your teaching on point and finished edges.
Thanks so much for all the helpful information. I have tried these techniques and they have helped me so much. Can't wait for the next video. Have a great day.
I wish the camera angle was one that when you "clipped it" your hand didn't block the view! Also, I really wish the camera was in focus when you were hooking the sharp points of the star. Great, valuable information, just hard to see for beginners like me.
I’m not so sure I have the ability to do that and have it look right, however as a beginner and more research hopefully I’ll get it. Thanks so much for responding.
@@marylouaucker9043 You do have the ability after you finish a section of your rug, take a photo with your phone. Look at the photo and see if there are flat sections or email me!
I’m new to rug hooking. What kind of foundation backing do you use? Does it depend on what the rug will be used for ie rug to walk on or wall hanging, as to which foundation backing you choose? Thank you
Hi, I just came up on your video and really, enjoyed. I have a question for you. What kind of frame do you use, I want to start hooking but, I want to learn, about frames, and the different types, of wool or yarn, and hooks.
Здравствуйте! Спасибо, мне очень нравится Ваша работа! Скажите, а если потянуть за петлю, не распустятся остальные петли? Hello! Thank you, I really like your work! Tell me, if you pull the loop, the rest of the loops will not open?
Hello Lisanne! This is an amazing craft. On my last visit to the States I bought myself a little kit, not knowing anything about rug hooking. What really is mind boggling to me is the back of the work. It easily can become undone if you mistakenly pull a piece of fabric. I tried to find the answer on the web but can't find anything.
@@w.cushingco.7414 Thank you Lisanne for your replyI I must be doing something wrong. If I pull on an end it all the loops pull out. Ill try and find a tutorial on RUclips.

New to rug hooking. Can you tell me how much room you should leave between your hooking design, and the edge of linen. I have made my own motif for a rug. I am transferring it to linen, but want to be sure to have enough room for run finishing. So, what do you believe enough room left for this should be? Thank you for your response.😀
@@w.cushingco.7414 👍♥️Thank for getting back to me on that. I know we're all focusing on the viruse, so just wanted to thank you for taking the time.🙂 Be well you and your family.♥️🙋♀️
It seems like that hook splits the yarn quite often, or am I hearing something else? I LOVE that hook that is larger at the part of the shaft that connects to the handle, but the hook itself seems tiny. I am not an experienced rug-hooker, so I don't know.
This may be a dumb question, if you are trimming off the top of the point: how is the yarn not being pulled through/ unlooping if it has been cut? Is it because there is enough tension on both sides holding it in place from the other loops?
I may have missed it but what do you do on the underside of the rug. I never see you cut the wool/yarn. When using the same color and moving to a new location are you just leaving the length on the back? Thanks
This is one of the most helpful rug hooking videos I have watched. Thank you Lisann for sharing your knowledge.

Wonderful!
How do you decide where shading is appropriate on your pieces…. I love your tutorials and your pieces are just beautiful.
I look at the piece and decide what motifs need depth and definition. that is what I shade

I have a question for you.
What kind of frame do you use, I want to start hooking but, I want to learn, about frames, and the different types, of wool or yarn, and hooks.
I use a gripper frame
The sharp point tips is awesome. I often use hand spun rug yarn for hooking. I gather this technique should work for yarn as well?
Yes it would work for yarn as well!

That is true it can but as you hook the loops get locked in

It will split some times but you need a larger shaft to open the hole
Where is the thread???? How you pull it from other side, you didn't show this please?
What is it that you're NOT counting? Are you hooking every single hole or just every second hole?
This may be a dumb question, if you are trimming off the top of the point: how is the yarn not being pulled through/ unlooping if it has been cut? Is it because there is enough tension on both sides holding it in place from the other loops?
yes there is enough pressure to keep it on the top
Hi I just found you what material should I use for rug hooking.
You use wool strips and linen
I may have missed it but what do you do on the underside of the rug. I never see you cut the wool/yarn. When using the same color and moving to a new location are you just leaving the length on the back? Thanks
All ends are pulled through to the front, then cut, if you were to leave them on the back, the ends could snag and loops could easily be pulled out.
@@andreadimmick8105 Thanks
Yes, exactly
Qquestion----which is stronger wool strip or wool yarrn?
To me a wool strip but wool yarn last a long time
When you do puzzle pieces what does the back look like?
Puzzlie pieces look like puzzle pieces for larger areas. There is a video on this topic
apesar de não ter entendido uma ´so palavra sua professora, acompanhei até o final o video. Achei interessante
thank you
Thank you

Do you offer "socially distanced" in-person workshops?
Alex, right now I only offer Zoom workshops
Can I use burlap for rug hooking
Yes you can but it does not hold up as well as linen or the other backings
Do you sell them?
No I do not sell them
