at 64 i just started on a low dose 12.5 mg diuretic. i take my medicine in the morning when my bp is high, at night its normal. so far the medicine is working great.
My VA doctor has me taking 20 mg lisinopril twice a day. Before breakfast and 12 hours later. My BP actually goes up after taking it and I can't get anywhere when I complain.
If it goes up after the second time you take it again means you don’t need it twice that’s how I found out my doctor was giving me to much. I weaned myself off one off them slowly my blood pressure was good with just the one tablet
For health, the best is keep the blood pressure in a stable and within your target level of which is various from people to people. When you take the drugs to keep in in a stable condition is the key .
My blood pressure varies from 150/75 to 120/75 whether I take the medication or not so I stopped the medication as it made no difference. Sometimes however it can go above 150 which is when a pop a tablet. I take my own blood pressure twice a day to keep myself aware.
This is so bad! BP medication needs time to actually work and is intended to be used long term. If your meds are not working than you probably need to change the dose or combination therapy. BP pills aren't like Advil to be taken 'as needed'. Your goal is to be in a stable safe range and over 120 is not safe.
I am taking my high blood pills in the morning so it’s better to take it at night before going to bed? I also taking my cholesterol medication at night .. I am on ART medication also before going to bed can I take together with them? Please advise Tq
Sorry to hear that. Are you taking your blood pressure at the same time everyday? Blood pressure meds need to be taken at a scheduled time every day to be effective unless it is the type of meds you can take as needed. Discuss it with a doctor. If you don’t like the one you have now, try to find a new one who is more helpful. Hope all is well with you 🙏🏽
Im only 27 and i have very high bp. Im the type of person that really doesn’t want to rely on a medicine for the rest of my life. But i think i need to get on meds while i try to make the life style changes. A few years back i went to the care now because i smashed my finger with an anvil. They saw my high bp and one doc wanted to put me on meds but the other doc said if i start taking meds its really hard to come off of them. She ended up not putting me on the meds because she said i was young and I should be able to get it down myself. Im a smoker and addicted to caffeine and i dont sleep well and I think i have sleep apnea so its going to take time for me to get all that handled. Should i get put on medication in the meantime or is it really something i will have to commit to taking forever once o get on it. Im worried about my health but its a journey quitting all my vices and dealing with the sleep apnea, i dont even have insurance so to treat the sleep apnea is near impossible because of what they charge for self pay. I want to fix it but im worried about having a stroke in my 20s. I know my body can take some abuse now but I know eventually its going to have enough of it.

A question I have on this is this. I think I am reasonably typical (78 y.o. male) in that my BP is higher in the morning and lower in the afternoon/evening, I take my meds in the morning ; would there be a case for taking them at bed-time to lower the BP reading in the A.M. ?
Call your physician's office & explain clearly that prior to taking your medication, your pressure is low & provide the pressure. I just experienced this w/ my father, toady. I had to contact the office. His pressure was perfect 113/84. He took medication and bp dropped 77/56!!!! That's dangerously low. This is not to say to permanently cease medication but you may need to temporarily stop it & HYDRATE & MONITOR your pressure PRIOR to taking a blood pressure medication. Too low of bp is dangerous & can be fatal. It can be damaging to your organs. Both high & low pressures are detrimental. I am not a physician, however I have shared in the care of a family member as well as myself. Be well.

At any time of day when your BP is high after 1st dose, you can take extra dose without any second thought . Main aim is to control BP to within control target level. If BP remains high , then you have to see the doctor again & get your medicines adjusted, mostly additional medicine will added.

Ive heard some decent things about it and my buddy after a lifetime of fighting got cool results with it.
Thank you doctor so much.
So other than waking up at night to use the bathroom, the better time is at night

What about bisoprolol fumarate? When is the ideal time to take it?
Mine morning
5 mg bisoprolol
I take my BP medicine once in a 15 days.that is at the night before sleeping. I have been doing this for 8 years. No problem .
Try earthing,a natural blood thinner,go DIY a grounding mat/pillow yourself, it's simple.
Twice a month?
Eat properly, move more. You can’t just rely on a pill to keep you going
i refuse to take high blood pressure pills

We eat all day so our circulatory system is working harder at night
I’m taking two blood pressure pills and blood pressure still high. My cardiologist is not good. Today was 172/100
You are to blame not the doctor. You are eating too much and eating too much salt with it. Also DO NOT DRINK BOOZE.
Iam also 27 my reading is 90/170 my doctor prescribed me med and I am taking it from today.
I'm 26 and just got prescribed meds😭 my BP is usually in the 140s/80s. I also know I definitely need to change my lifestyle

Is it ok to take losartan and amlodipine at the same time? Or better to split them?
I take mine in the morning. Both of them
@A. Northrup no I don’t feel anything with losartan.
@A. Northrup I have nightmares taking it. Like everyday but it works
No problem in taking them in combination . Some hospitals prefer seperate losartan and seperate amlodipine.
@A. Northrup Yes, it makes me very tired, if that's what you mean.

Hey doc why are leg swell around my ankle when I take these blood pressure medication.. and I take my medication at night super lack of sleep waking up to pee because I have too drink so much water so I don't get leg cramp and they hurt really bad
A question I have on this is this. I think I am reasonably typical (78 y.o. male) in that my BP is higher in the morning and lower in the afternoon/evening, I take my meds in the morning ; would there be a case for taking them at bed-time to lower the BP reading in the A.M. ?
What if you work night shift and you go to bed at 6am? Is it a "bedtime" thing or a "nighttime" thing?
Set a timer for 5 minutes and breathe in through your nose for 5 seconds and breathe out through your mouth for 5 sec ur BP will drop try it out
Should I stop taking it if my pressure is low
Be well.

I was taking 40 mg telmisartan daily but from the previous 5 days my bp is 170/94 at night when I measured. So I took again one tablet. is it ok to take twice daily?
Urs veri high.
At any time of day when your BP is high after 1st dose, you can take extra dose without any second thought . Main aim is to control BP to within control target level. If BP remains high , then you have to see the doctor again & get your medicines adjusted, mostly additional medicine will added.
