I love this song, it really gives you the sense of what it truly feels to be alone but also gives you the feeling of hope. It feels like unrequited love
Ever notice how Lonette is drawn to be from his era. Frank was a soldier so she has that victory roll type hairdo and back in the day pin-up girl look.😉
I agree, I really do, and I like to think that "Cool World" still does have that potential. If some director, producer, or studio ever decides to remake or reboot 'Cool World," then that would be awesome because the new film could fix the mistakes and problems of the original (depending on the director & crew behind it, of course). What do you think?
Yeah that'll be cool. Ralph Bakshi originally pitched "Cool World" as an animated horror film about an underground cartoonist who fathers an illegitimate half-human/half-daughter who hates herself for what she is (not to mention angry at her bioloigical father for abandoning her) and tries to kill him. Unfortunately for Mr. Bakshi, during production, his original screenplay was scrapped by Frank Mancuso Jr. (who wanted to move away from horror films) and heavily rewritten by Michael Grais and Mark Victor in secret. Rubbing the salt in the wound is that Bakshi was threatened with a lawsuit by Paramount if he refused to complete the film. So if that director, producer, or studio decides to remake or reboot "Cool World", then they should hire Ralph Bakshi to give his original idea another chance. Oh, and the remake/reboot should have the songs that were used in the original movie as well.
I'm currently a film and media student, and I dream about getting a production together for a remake of Ralph Bakshi's original script which is apparently still circulating, (the horror film). Doubtful that he will attempt to make it again.
Despite what people say, cool world has its great moments and is more entertaining them some stuff today with the combined animation and real life. Hope it gets a bluray release at some point.

You meant to write "building", "who pushed him" , "well, what happens to noids who traffic in the Cool World, Nails when they get killed by a doodle?" & "they become a doodle themselves"
I remember the only time that Cool world was on mexican tv more than 15 years ago and I never knew nothing about the film, the movie has that unique art style and gives me some nostalgia
Same boat i recently watched it for the first time and it hit hard with emotion and nostalgy and im close the my 40, the art, music and setting really do something to you.
My mom took me to see this when I was 11. She thought it was inappropriate for a kid my age, but it's been one of my favorites ever since and has been one of the inspirations behind my graphic novel series Boozawhiskers.
no one should ever dare try to remake "Cool World". I like it just the way it is. perhaps it will be re-released into the theaters or onto a collectors edition dvd someday.
wow beautiful, how come this is the first time I hear this. I love this movie, the art is beyond rational, it's so beautiful and creative. The creators really had outside of box thinking when it came to this movie. Hollywood needs to promote more artistic talents.
damn these songs are pretty impressive. i guess this song may have inspired what are you doing the rest of your life of sting and chris botti. impressive
It's not on the soundtrack?! My god, I am glad I read your comment. I've been asking for the soundtrack for my birthday and holidays for the last couple years, largely because of THIS song. Thanks for the warning!
THIS ISN'T ON THE SOUNDTRACK? Thanks for letting us know that! I was planning to buy the soundtrack specifically for this song! god, what a crime. Why the hell would they leave this off the soundtrack?
YT Cyberpunk you guys, there's two soundtracks. this is on the SCORE album by Mark Isham. The other has all the techno/electronica and rock stuff, which is called "Songs from the cool world"
OK, so you yourself don't agree that there should be a "Cool World" remake, and that's OK, I respect your opinion. I'm just saying that there should for the exact reasons that I wrote down in my previous comment. That is all.

Rachel Miller I got a perfect idea for rebooting the movie, and I would re-title it “Cruel World”!

If there was a more completed version of the movie, it could be referred to as "Cooler World". B-)

One my favorite romantic/character themes ever, thanks for posting! There's such a sense of longing and loneliness in this, and it's so beautiful.
i agree. and ironically it's from one my most hated movies of all time lol. movie had many great elements of potential though
Same here! I have such a love-hate relationship with "Cool World."

If you did that I'd watch the hell out of it!
lol. it's such an original idea though isn't it? amazes me that no one else has at least attempted put such a thing to film

It is. Cool World will be released on blu ray in September of this year.

I agree, while it has many flaw, it has very good moments, alongside Barry Jacksons amazing artwork and I enjoy it for what it is.

Well, I think I've added this track to my computer anyway, so it's now a moot point.
It's worth buying both ;) If you're into early 1990's techno. There's some rare gems.
Lonette ... :(
Lonette is my least favorite character in cool world but I must say I love her theme. I’m a sucker for jazz and this hits all the right spots for me.
