The music is so moving. Not your typical war movie. Tragedy when peace is lost and you have to live on. I hope that history is not forgotten. It will repeat itself. ☮️
You made my year for uploading this, and I thank you sir!! visited Ardennes 3x. Mark Isham simply did brilliant job, I call it atmospheric-melancholy music, 80s/90s simply had character in movies/soundtracks, we as "society" lost the plot seriously since 2000 -- "...so what is the intelligence? " Will Knott
We gained a few miles of European real estate... and lost the beginnings to untold generations of very bright people. I think the army considered this a good deal. - Sgt. Will Knott - by the 5th grade I was known as "Will Not"
I was just a kid when I first saw this movie. First war movie I saw where they were the enemy but not evil. Through tragedy you appreciate the value of life.
The piece at the top, during the funeareal kinda scene, when the choral kicks in, I lose it every time. "I think they were saying, 'Why not go Shrink!'" The best anti war movie I've ever scene, and it's one few have ever heard of...
You really made my night, I’ve been searching for this soundtrack for YEARS. Suite 1 is a masterpiece of emotion, and I think of it often while on the nightshift here in the frontline of this COVID pandemic. So many gone so young.
Saw the film when originally released. Always was awestruck by the scores. The film itself was an exemplary cinematic performance. It seemed for a while during the film that the kinship the Nazis developed during Christmas would last. Oddly my most favorite part of the film was towards the end when they were encamped at the bottom of a knoll and had awakened whereas to find on the immediate surface road above there was enemy movement and Kevin Dillon said "Did you see those markings .... that was honest to shit 'SS'" ..... the current score within and that scene to me was dope! Mark Isham is true genius. His OST for the 1988 film "The Beast" is a true achievement of musical brilliance!
country where I am from could have seen civil war 1994, remember Marks Isham well and this soundtrack and BeastOfWar, cleaning the .308 Mauser with scope, at the age of 19, since then I visited the Ardennes 3x, I am 44 now haha!

I do wonder. What's the source? How did somebody got to this and place this for us. Film company does not want to release it as a record but somehow do have an audio source/recording... Still hoping more Mark Isham treasures will be dug up in the near future
These two suites were featured as additional tracks on another score by Mark Isham, “Eight Below”. I bought a copy of that so I could upload this score - hope that answers it! Cheers.
Hi Leif, Thank you for your message! I am sad to tell you the production company responsible for A Midnight Clear decided not to release the soundtrack and since they own the rights to the music we are unfortunately unable to pass it on to listeners, as much as we would love to. I have watched this movie every Christmas since 1995. Never ger tired of it.
Me too this is my Christmas movie of choice
i’m gonna start doing this from now on
Great underrated film. Great soundtrack. Really good to hear it again.

Hauntingly beautiful...
Amazing movie start to finish
I watched this film at the 1992 London Film Festival and it has always stayed with me. Thanks for the music upload. Such a great score by Mark Isham.
