As always, your reviews are just world class. Crazy how much work you put into your review vs the "others" I would absolutely love to see a review in the long irons of the i230. I've read the long irons are where the i230's deviates the most from the i210's. Have yet to see anyone show compassion of this, would love to see the difference in head size/shape.
Hi JayBarryWally, I think it's because the media samples that were given out were in 6, 8 and PW possibly so no attention to the 4 iron etc. Although not many people use a 4 iron nowadays, or at least in a function way. It is true that the long irons do show a definite tail off in expected head length, although looking at the projected sales, long irons won't be high on the list. Although still important to mention so that all know, so thank you for taking the time to comment 👍
I’d really love to see more videos on BEST FEELING irons. Feel and forgiveness are the 2 most important thing in an iron and no one ever reviews the softest/beat feeling players/ 32 degree-ish irons. Love the videos and you’re easily one of my favorite reviewers!!!! So much great information and so very well explained! 💯👍
Thanks for the kind feedback 👍🏻 I could absolutely do that one, although 32 degrees is normally reserved for the players cavity range where pure players irons at the normal 34 degrees would feel a touch better so to make the best feeling irons it would basically be limited to blades only 👍🏻
switched from 223 pro to i525. personally i like the i525 better. lighter sw same shaft, more forgiving similar offset, a bit more progressive in the 525 but not bad at all. my miss is thin and i525 was much better handling that.
Thank you for the comprehensive review. I think Callaway Apex 21 would be a good comparison too? It’s an iron that is often overlooked but the switch from HMBs to Apex 21 helped me drop my HC from 10 to 6 over the course of 4 months. Arccos SG statistic showed big improvement in approach.
Perfect timing to see this review I’m seriously considering getting the ping i230s having a test run with my pro very soon and also the latest release of the srixons. And you have a new subscriber 😮.

I recently got fitted for a set of Mizuno 223s but have yet to pull the trigger on the purchase. I'm a fan of Ping so I was very much interested in this comparison. After watching this I'm comfortable sticking with the 223s. Thank you for the great comparison and analysis. You've earned a new subscriber.
@@lawbinson I didn't want to go through another fitting esp when this video shows there isn't much separation in terms of performance. Also the i230 retail at a higher price point.
Hi Todd, I'm very fortunate in that I can choose what golf clothes, brands I wish to play and wear etc. I am not paid or contractually obliged (like some) to say or pedal any particular narrative. This allows me to have my own mind and opinion and can say exactly what I want. If it's good I'll say, if it's not I'm happy to say why, and also give head data explaining exactly why. Regardless of what brand I wear I believe in honesty and integrity to give you the viewer the best, most accurate information I can. Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍
Would like to see MP 223 tested against the JPX 923 Forged when they are available by comparing sole width as my course with MP MMC plays soft. I’m thinking the Forged can offer more sole forgiveness.
Another great vid, thank you for all the work you put into these. Any chance you do ball reviews? I'm intrigued by the new Mizuno ball and would love to see it compared to the Taylormade or Bridgestone.
Thanks for the detail as always. I noticed a smaller spin delta on the ping for sure. But that may provide some consistency in distance. I just didn't like the feel of the i230 in comparison. Also the peak height and descent takes it out of the running for my bag. But I am sure there is a guy out there that would find more success with the ping.
Gotta consider the 223s drop the jpx tech in the 8-pw….would assume i230 have a bit more continuity. I had the 223s and had to give them up…..not good enough to hit a more or less blade 8i. Took my 7 year old ping e1 2015 and hit on average better shots. Love miz, but the tag line should be “nothing feels like a mizuno…when you hit it out of the middle”. My.02
I may have missed but what dot colour Ping is equivalent to the std off the shelf 223 pro, blue? As a lefty its very hard finding demo clubs and even when you do the selection is 10% compared to right hand. I know we are more naturally gifted hence being disadvantaged 😉
Hi MidLifeBiker, I myself am left handed but play 2 handed sports right handed and one handed sports left handed. Left handed selection is difficult as manufacturers don't make much if any profit from the left handed market. From memory Ping are about 1.5 degrees more upright than standard Mizuno although I don't really see the difference during testing. Whether different manufacturers measure from different points 🤷 but Ping clubs do have a greater range of adjustment. 👍
This is now my favorite review channel. I know you’ve done many of these individually, but would you do one across the entire Ping Iron line when the G430 comes out as well?
Hi Richard, only really ever got to scratch before I stopped in the amateur ranks, and being honest I have a better understanding and control of my body now to individually deliver different angles than I ever have. Sometimes practicing something you shouldn't do can give a greater knowledge of what you should do 👍
Appreciate you doing this. Here in the states, the club I work at doesn’t have the I230 demo head yet. If it feels as good and is as forgiving as the 210, I might consider changing. Loved the 210, but got the MMC and still game them. What are your thoughts between MMC and I230? Much of an upgrade if I switch? Thanks again!
Probably not if being honest. It's a different direction for sure but they are quite similar in their design brief and much so the same as the conclusion to this video 👍
223’s are now discontinued so you'll have to get fitted for the 243s now, basically very similar with some small tweaks. I230 is a great shout also, one of the very best from Ping and generally spins quite well also 👍🏻 T150s, well I'd love to give you a conclusion on those but since Titleist is so difficult to get hold of, I still haven't been able to get a reply back from them.... Same with PXG. 🤨 🤷👍🏻
@@AskGolfNut thanks and yeah…243’s and i230 look what I’m looking for. But I just watched your p770 vid too. My miss is typically thin…every now and then on the toe….but never heely. P770 seemed like a contender as well.
@@AskGolfNut what do u think in comparison…the Takomo 101T irons? Seem good price and lofts are not too strong and pretty good irons for the price? Please share and Let me know your thoughts.
Can you compare forgiveness of i230 to g425? I am really curious if g425 is really as forgiving as ping claims. Cool clubs did a robot test on those two irons ( testing different parts of the face) and i230 trumped g425 in terms of dispersion which was super surprising for me
In this Mizuno interview on mygolfspy. Mizuno explains how the amaturw average miss hits go diagonally from low heal to high toe. And designed the JPX to perform better in these locations ruclips.net/video/kVPc6fgGps0/видео.html
Taking the average club face contact spot is not a good idea. You could miss every shot but as long as they were missed evenly tow and heel the average would be right in the middle
Lee you are absolutely right, 100% correct. That's why the understanding and utilisation of a measure of Standard Deviation is used to ensure what you say isn't the cause. I also include in the data shown each clubs Standard Deviation amounts for people to critique at their own leisure 👍 Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍
just switched from mizuno 223 to ping i525 same exact shaft. wow did i spend a lot recently. anyway the fact that ping i525 comes stock d-0, d-1 swing weight in players 6.0 steel i/o shaft makes all the difference for me, who tends to play a bit longer length but cant stand higher than d2 sw, and backweighting is not the answer for me. bravo. finally a club that fits me length and sw without taking off the badging. actually im hitting these so well im going to keep them stock...

I have the i230s and I’m a 13 hcp but I prefer my 7i being 165 vs 170ish carry or my gaps would be off. Love the vid…

I'd go with the forged club personally. Cast clubs always seem to deliver less consistent spin and ball speed characteristics.
How does the 223 perform on fat shots from the rough? ( in comparison to i230)

@patrickhoward4080 101T is a kind of mix between 245 ad 243, with looks more around the 245, the 301 is probably your best bet spin wise 👍🏻

switched from ping to mizuno - no comparison regarding the whole package.
