You are nocking the arrows really low which would certainly account for the damage to your knuckle. If you shave the front of the feathers to a taper and then seal it with duco cement and nock the arrow a bit above level--you should be able to shoot off your knuckle indefinitely without any issues.
Is there a glove they wear on the holding hand when shooting? No there isn’t 😂😂😂 You are supposed to allow the bow to rotate with the string follow through. The rotation will prevent the string from slapping against your hand…. In theory. But that’s a tradition Yumi. Not sure if this self bow version has more string follow through or not, but using some of the traditional shooting techniques might not be a bad idea. In addition your brace height might be a tad low. You might need to use a slightly shorter string. And last but not least (and I know I’ve said this to you before) you need to recurve the tips. Just a little not a lot. the recurving may cut down on the string follow through . But no they definitely don’t wear a glove on the holding hand. All that said, it’s a pretty cool looking and functioning bow
@@panzerlieb it was the fletchings hitting my hand, not the string. The bow is working lovely It's had a bit more work since then and it's drawing to a point where I need a longer arrow
Fantastic work. Really enjoying your vids and journey into bow making Seth

@@ianbruce6515 nice mate. Constructive info is good thank you.
I have also noticed that hand protection is part of the traditional garb in Kyudo
