This map is not bugged this is just a skaven commander betraying his rival in hopes of career advancement. This is perfectly natural skaven behavior nothing to see here.
Reinforcements, yes, yes.
Map, see, see.
Here, here, best, best.
legend casually ignoring the fact that he's successfully immolating units that are completely submerged in water
Get it up to the right temperature and you got yourself some hearty rat soup. Nothing wrong with that.
Legend is a good cook.
Skaven like hot water bath, yes-yes
Water got very hot and they were boiled alive
Let him cook...
"GLORIOUS WARPFIRE"
*Proceeds to tweak out absolutely smashed on warpstone*
What do you mean they don't think about what they're doing with these maps? They Bob Ross approach. Some happy little trees here because every tree needs a friend, some happy cliffs there. We don't make mistakes, only happy little accidents :)
That is 100% Warhammer 3's map design philosophy lol.
That one Skaven doing his little rat dance in the middle of the lake as he sank completely ended me.
10:40 DJ Rat sank his career after that sick mage's burn.

Now if Legend could teach us THAT cheese...

I will say, what I think happened here is map stitching. What I mean is, CA makes several giant maps which are assigned to campaign map areas and you get different parts of them based on where you are. This to say, if this battle happens a few coordinates different this wouldn’t have been a problem it’s this exact spot on the campaign map that causes this part of the terrain to behave like this
The plague monk at 10:22 is really feeling the horned rat
GLORIOUS WARPFIRE
"Getting to them will be tricky". Proceeds to shoot fish in a barrel.
Might not be the most optimal army, but honestly it's really rad, at the very least-
I like the 'one of each dragon type', aesthetically.
I reckon it was probably the map sizes being decreased at some point in development / standardizing map sizes or the map designer being unaware of where the maps would be cut off
You need to have phoenix guards in the army in order to attain the staunch line of spears.
Out of my way, fools-fools!
Stuck-stuck!
Forest stuck-stuck!
- Reinforcement zone stuckers
3:02 mobile game level AI from a AAA game with 20+ years of history and experience
I really think the battle difficulty is bait. After a couple thousand hours split between hard and very hard, I've only noticed one real difference maker. The AI cripples themselves on very hard by trying too hard to be "smarter"
Like sitting there and letting your heroes spam spells because they think it's a waste to shoot at single targets, or letting artillery destroy their army because they think it's better to wait for reinforcements, or slowly approaching in waves because who knows why...
On hard difficulty they just bum rush you as soon as they take enough damage. They close that gap all at once and try to turn every fight into a blob. Look away for a second and your wizards are half dead to archers no matter what mount you have them on.
i switched to very hard recently. i don't think it's a big difference, but it's still a bit harder. on hard the AI still usually waits for reinforcements. the main thing about very hard is the leadership buffs/debuffs are quite impactful, there's been a few times that my troops chain rout in battles that look like i'm actually winning lol. on hard you just have to win the battle, on very hard you have to win by a large enough margin that you don't lose the leadership fight. that's also a big problem in battles where you can't really deal with a specific enemy unit; on hard you can just ignore that unit and it will route anyway, on very hard you probably have to find a way to kill it, because unless the rest of the battle went extremely well it's unlikely to rout. archer spam never really let me down on hard, but on very hard i recently had a battle where i took out their entire army apart from two heroes who my archers weren't doing much damage against, and then my whole army routs and i lose lol.

Legend: "Plenty of magic."
Crassius Curio: "Plenty of time."
Legend bullied that reinforcement.
Only legends:
"It's become tiresome to watch me fight 4 enemy armies vs my 1 army"
Legend even cheeses humble bragging.
I think they walked all the way to the fight hoping their reinforcements would catch up.
I sort of had the reverse situation happen on a Norsca map - there was an abandoned campground in the corner where my reinforcements were coming in. There must have been tons of invisible walls all over the place because there was no obvious barrier like there is here. My units could all enter from the reinforcement zone, but they couldn't move unless they were flying units! Now I wish I'd saved it...to send to Legend lol. That would have actually been a disaster battle
Sisters are an awesome doomstack. Putting the Phoenix Guard in there just makes for more micro.
like the clipping for the Elfs spawning in a fortress on cliff side maps.. They should have a basic code for /stuck built in to a product things vital to MMOs like[unnamed 14 year old plus ones we beta closed betaed]
I have notice a lot of armies just walking right up till they are in range to charge into melee
Thats one hell of a rat BBQ. Also the rat on the water was too funny
Lord Skrolk's army may have been slightly bugged. "If" the A.I. was waiting for the other army to catch up with him. That would explain the slow walk to annihilation. " We will use use first army, soak up ammo .... yes ... yes".
We've seen a lot of disaster battles with the High Elves, Skaven, and Empire, but I'd like to see some more with different races like the Wood Elves or the Beastmen. It would be interesting to see how you work with their unique strengths and weaknesses.
First army likely walked so "reinforcements could catch up" after you did some spell damage to force them to advance.
Very oddly appropriate timing for this: I’m literally in the middle of reading SusavileTW’s Nakai campaign overview on Steam Guides, where Pestilens is singled out as a nuisance due to it being part of the Long Victory objectives…perhaps one can abuse this map in similar fashion when playing as Spirit of the Jungle?
Definitely agree love seeing rare cases like this and even exploit videos are a very nice treat as well
Really is a skaven moment here lol
I had this same problem with my reinforcements on a yellow map in norscan territory, so frustrating when your reinforcements can't move.
The last part of this battle was a war crime.
We had this a few days ago - and I smashed a Comet in that corner! Very satisfying. 😁
Is there an option to disable AI allied recruitment from outpost? I've looked through workshop but there are only mods that increase that mechanic. I would like to get rid of it for the AI. (I only use it to baypass unit caps for the same race specially with undivaded warriors of chaos)
Unless they changed it, there is a forest map with an identical problem; there's a deep crevasse or pit at the edge of the map where you can reinforce into, but you can't actually leave the pit once you've entered the battlefield. As I played an army with plenty of ranged and magic I had a "blast", but if I'd played for instance WoC, I would've had to wait for the timer to reach 0...
with a victory like that, this man is a hero of our time
Had this happen to me last week. Couldn't win the battle as Skaven b/c tree's would block almost every missle fired in there.
That mixed army is pretty similar to what I might field, but the Phoenix guard actually makes it weaker? That would explain why most of my heavy infantry have high casualty rates, but I always feel like my projectile armies get overwhelmed and it gets quite messy even when I win.
I personally would love it if you did a general "do's and don't's" on (non-doomstack) army composition, cause it's something I haven't been able to learn or figure out just through game play.
This was enjoyfull, fun and funny video :)
Slanesh loving the comments
You could say that they were...
Trapped like a rat
i had a similar situation but they were below in a really small corner and then were below the map. after i beat the other armies the army that was spawning under the map just appeared some meters away from me
This would be a brilliant situation to get as skryre with a doomrocket
16:05 The skaven seem so confused lmao
Nothing will beat that bugged map in warhammer 2 that had 90% of the map covered in impassable water. The two armies would just spawn on each other and go at it.
I had a battle HE vs Bretonia, where my enemy’s reinforcements arrived below a cliff somehow. And what did the ai do? Just ignored the cliff and teleported up to the battlefield
"Sisters" of Avelorn in the comment section
I feel like the main issue with most maps is that they are just too small
Slaanesh bots are literally invading your comment section
Rule of cool applies. Phoenix guard are cool, so people recruit them.
you can also use that in case you have a army that is really bad at dealing with what youre fighting and a strong lord that can deal with the army but your army would take too much damage
Do short units like shaven or dwarves get a combat penalty if they’re in water? I know everyone gets some penalties, but theirs should be more harsh
What happens if I defend on this map and I put myself in that corner? Then i win right? The whole defeder wins on timer thing right.
10:21 that's a rat mate, not a bug
I encountered this bug in my first playthrough in immortal empires when it first got out 20 months ago.
I wonder do the woodelves also use infant tree?
Im really missing the videos on the older TW games 😢
The map design in the Warhammer trilogy low-key annoys the hell out of me. There is rarely a location that has good elevation and a clear line of fire, usually one or the other if you're lucky. I get that the devs probably want to create a challenge for the player--ie. don't want to let players get into a cycle of find high ground, set up, hit fast forward, win--but as a commander, why would I ever decide to fight on some of this terrain.
On a related note: I think the map size should increase when the battle begins, allowing/forcing players more ground to maneuver after the battle has begun. And, I think the battle maps should be round/ be bordered by natural boundaries instead of by a gigantic invisible square. This would make corner camping much more difficult, but would provide in-universe explanation for why forces can't get around an encamped position.
Legend of Total war without not reminding us CA broke the game challange: impossible
Ho hey lets go. Cheers
16:07 allied forces trapped in dunkirk circa 1939
Ive had this happen before on the islands where kugath is at
last week a had a match where similar thing happend to my troops after deplyment...
invisible not passable terrain uin the middle of the map, invisible... nice
Another Triple A company and can't even design a simple Battle Map correctly do their internal testers even bother to test the maps with how many bugs we get on them.
Oh yeah that caught me once when I wasnt paying attention. Similar layout not any trees good trees to hide in on the map so went ah yeah thres a corner nice hidy spot not realising there was no pathing.
The war crimes start around 16:25 :)
Is something known after the latest hotfix I can't play twwh3 anymore. Steam is constantly downloading and checking files.
10:20 Hope Legend doesn't get a strike for leaking Clan Skurvy footage.

I'm pretty certain they don't instantly use those in Warhammer 2.
Weird
It's not a bad design, it's a wet dream hahahhaha
Who needs effectivity if ur units look badass!
Nah both ways of thinking are valid.
How does this even happen? Why is there even an unreachable part of the map in the first place? What purpose does that serve?
No bugs, plenty of rats though.
Yeah i had this map before...with an army without ranged or magic. Had to concede defeat...
I found I minor bag whenever you attack ultuan castles against elf they can attack you if you stay under the gate. No other faction in the game can shoot under the gate.
Is there a difference between attacking or defending? Why did legend compliment the player for attacking?
why did skrolk break if he was unbreakable?
I dont understand what the problem was with Rome 2. Attila, Empire map sizes. Small maps literally screws Cavalry, and makes it short and quick, but less tactical
There is a 2nd map like this in the empier. It happened during my ikit claw campaign on my channel. It was such an annoying bug.
Hey legend I know it is unlikely because you don’t normally do them but it would be awesome to give your take on tamurkhan’s faction mechanics since total war video on him pretty much showed everything off understand if you don’t want to.
turn 128 and... map i concered?.. in vanila? wut?
CA can pump out DLC's with no problem but they cannot develop the AI to give some challenge
Im not away fists, but not this time
There are STILL so many maps where you can't cast summons because the GROUND DOESN'T COUNT AS GROUND. CA needs to go back and take another pass at all the maps to fix shit because there's so much busted shit.
classic CA incompetence
Sisters of Avelorn are superior to Phoenix Guard in every scenario except vs, Luthor Harkon or any extremely high magic resist
Not anymore. In WH3 magic resistance got changed to spell resistance. Only ward save protects vs magic damage
elf yhing things where do we spawn spawn out Warplightning master tech weapons..you you. random map curse;3
There's so many shit maps in twwh3 that are completely tree covered or completely uneven terrain, which isn't realistic outside of ambush maps. No battle commanders historically decided to fight the enemy in the worst location possible for both armies. You should only ever see terrible maps in ambush battles yet they're some of the most open maps in the game.
I think somebody got that reinforcement zone there so you could put artillery with really high arch in there (let's say you have something like 4 plagueclaw catapults, or blessed field trebuchet, or something like that) and you can probably set them there and they would be unreachable for melee units. The fact that AI just got stuck there shows that this feature wasn't intended for AI use.
Bad map design or actually Thanqoul fucking over another ally? You decide
you have so many critiques and ideas for the game. Why doesn't CA ask for your opinions if they could be of help? :3
This sort of fight here, the map and the way they "charged" you are why I stopped playing. They keep talking about new content and giving more for the new prices but I just want fixes for what already exists. Half the new armies are just broken when playing against them. Ogres especially.
Nearly all maps are dogturds, replacing them all with a blank grass field that is 16 times larger would be a massive improvement.
I don't like WH3 and don't care about it. But to see that AI is something. What were they doing with development of it? Skaven army just stood there and then took difficult water terrain to slowly approach to player's army, making an perfect target of themselves. And being destroyed without even starting a fight. I know, AI must be stupid to some degree, for player's fun sake, just to blob up and let them be bombarded or foot-of-gorked... but be that stupid seems just like ... if it's "BAD MAP" design, what would you tell about AI design?
what AI????
Hoi4
Lol @ the Slaanesh bots
Honestly, that's way too many melee units even for TWW3. In my experience I only recruit about 2-4 as high or dark elves (usually to just protect the flanks or artillery). Not that it really makes much of a difference unless you're fighting three to four armies. I've just got PTSD from TWW2 A.I. where melee units were essentially useless late game.
First
Whats with all the obvious bots commenting lol
