  • Welcome to Prague, Czech Republic 🇨🇿
    filmed September 2019
After visiting Budapest, I was so excited to head over to Prague! While a lot of people have the John Lennon wall or the Dancing buildings at the top of their Prague travel list, the Sedlec Ossuary was at the top of mine!
    💀
The Sedlec Ossuary (known as the Bone Church) is a church decorated with over 40,000 human skeletons. When I say decorated, I literally mean decorated. The macabre art in the Bone Church includes a bone chandelier, bone chalices, 6 bone pyramids, a bone family crest, and bone garland. In 1870, a woodcarver, František Rint was tasked with artistically arranging the bones after the demand for burial was too high on the holy grounds of Sedlec Cemetery. Don’t worry, it is not morbid or gloomy in the church, rather fascinating and peaceful. It is a sight to behold!
    🚞
How to get there: - It is a 1 hour train ride from Prague to Kutná Hora and a 10 minute walk from the train station - Purchase your entry tickets ($3.50USD) at the bottom of the hill prior to making your way to the church
    🗺
When visiting Prague be sure to also add the John Lennon wall to your itinerary. This wall is dedicated to John Lennon, but has also evolved into a place for peaceful protest in the form of graffiti.⁣
    🎸⁣
This is a very popular tourist spot, so pack your patience, but also take a moment to step back and absorb why this wall was created. When I visited the wall someone was playing Beatles songs and it brought tears to my eyes thinking of all the special memories I’ve had with my daughters with the music of the Beatles.⁣
    🚧⁣
*Note: The wall has recently been renovated as an open-air gallery for professional artists standing for love and freedom in addition to John Lennon quotes.⁣
    💃🏾⁣
How to get to the John Lennon Wall:⁣
Walk from Old Town over Charles Bridge and take the stairs on the left-hand side of the bridge, keep walking straight (the bridge at your back), toward the small lane on your right, cross the small bridge, and the wall is on your right about 5 minutes from Charles Bridge.
While in Prague I was also able to take 2 different sightseeing tours, the first was the SANDEMANs Free Prague Walking Tour and the other was a Canal Tour through Prague Boats. I highly recommend them both not just for the history, but also the views around the city!
