Take the Guess Work Out of Natural Hair Care. ~ Facts and, "Not So" Common Sense to Longer, Thicker, Healthier Hair. Хобби
Water, because the molecules are alot smaller. Which makes it easier to penetrate through your hair.
water penetrates easier and quicker than oil because it has smaller molecules. have high porosity hair and it has really shown it's true colors after being 4 months post relaxer. still trying to find the best way to retain moisture through this phase. My hair started to reject my old regimen at 3 months post and I didn't start researching and finding out I've been mistreating my hair for years til then. I got a long road ahead of me and I'm optimistic it will be a fun one.

La Dama del Caribe a great example of the natural hair movement being overrun. Imagine being so arrogant and seeing a movement made for and by black women and feeling entitled to it,
This is really was informative breakdown. As a natural with (very) low porosity hair, I’ve found that my hair just hates products in general. It does just so so with liquid and a light cream or LC. But oils just make my hair greasy no matter how light they are, and butters don’t do much but coat it and make it ashy. The very best thing for my particular head of low porosity hair is just my sebum. Wash my hair with water, and preening the sebum. Ive been doing this almost 2 years to the date now. My hair is the strongest, most supple, and most manageable it’s ever been. I got started with the water only method with tips and suggestions with Green Beauty actually. My hair has grown thick to the ends from BSL to hip length since I started WO almost 2 years ago. And I give myself regular, light trims every 2-3 months.
Love all the info you give it helps a lot thanks
Thank you, I started doing the LOC and my hair seemed to feel better a let softer, I have High Porosity Hair. my hair loves water.
Im glad I found you. I was listening to another you tuber and they recommended you. I will try to do what you said. I am very heavy with my creams and oils. I leave grease spots all the time. Thanks.
Water because of the small molecular make up, it easily and quickly absorbs into the hair.
BTW I love your channel and the detail and time you put into your videos they are so helpful and informative. Thank you!
Through 7 years of trial and error, I do a LCOC method with adjustments. My L - liquid is water, the first C is cream that I dilute so that it's "runny" or very liquid(y), my O is always a penetrative oil (for me that's sunflower oil) and my final stage C is a heavy butter, cream or wax but only on my ends. Before I add the last stage I lightly coat my ends with aloe vera then add the butter, cream or wax on the ends and roll it around my finger until it curls. The first part of my routine, the LCO; the ingredients are always heated (warmed). This is the only method that works for my low-medium porosity 4C hair. I am able to retain moisture longer. I also spritz with only water every 3 days or longer if I notice any signs of possible drying. Thanks for sharing your video!
LT Cartwright thx for sharing your method... is your C a leave in conditioner or other cream? I'm a bit confused as when to use a leave in conditioner... some say as your L some say C in the LCO method... my hair is low porosity too so should i just be using water or aloe Vera juice as L... or can i use a liquidy spritz type leave in conditioner rather than cream based leave in as L or C? pls help clarify the LCO process. thx
janet benjamn - the L is the liquid, usually my hair is already damp from my wash so I put in a very watered down leave in or a liquid leave in (like Fantasia IC) or I go straight to the O step. Some people use aloe vera juice but aloe doesn't work for me. The O oil for me I use sunflower oil but you can use whatever works for you. My C is either a heavy leave in conditioner or a shea butter mix that I add a lot of oil to. Straight shea butter coats my hair and weigh it down but adding lots of oil makes the shea butter mix more useful for me. I wax the ends of my hair (in twists) with beeswax and that's my process after a deep conditioning or protein treatment. This keeps my hair moisturize up to 2 days and I only have to lightly spritz with water and retwist. Now after day 2-3 I use the very liquid based leave in and some of the oily shea butter mix or just some of the sunflower oil and retwist in chunky twists or braids. It depends on how my hair feels that determines if I go into all of the LOC steps - sometimes you CAN skip a step based on how your hair feels (dry and crunchy or soft and manageable). It takes a bit of a learning curve what your hair responds to but keep a log after every routine and this helps you pinpoint your "good" and "bad" hair days. It also helps narrow down which products work and which ones you have to tweak to work. But don't get stuck on using a product if your hair doesn't like it. You can find alternatives that do work. Good luck😊
LT Cartwright ok got it... thx for explaining the process and the tips...i use a shea butter mix too and it works well on my hair... what watery leave in conditioner do you use?
I take a cream based leave in like "cream of nature ultra moisturizing leave in conditioner mango & shea butter (or whatever scent you like best) put some in a squeeze bottle and add enough water to make it very very loose or I use Fantasia IC extra dry liquid leave in just by itself since it is watery and not a cream leave in. Or just take your favorite heavy creamy leave in and dilute it with water and/or aloe juice if your hair likes aloe until the consistency is watery. You may make is as diluted as you feel your hair responds to best. This watery leave in is also the mix I will use to do my moisturizing in between wash days. I boost my leave in conditioners by adding extra oils that my hair likes and use that mix to remoisturize my chunky twists throughout my protective styling. Since I put more oils in there I essentially combine the L and O steps then I only seal the twists with the shea butter mix and this keeps me good until my next wash day. Journal everything and you will begin to get a solid hair routine that isn't as complicated as it sometimes seem. Once you see what your hair responds to just continue to repeat it. Like I mentioned my hair stays so soft and moisturize that I really don't have to do the whole LOC method from scratch. I get away with only spritzing my hair with plain water with some tea tree oil and I'm good until I feel like my hair could use more conditioning. Happy hair journey😊
LT Cartwright oh I do the same thing lol put few spoons of Cantu leave in some oils and water in a spray bottle and spritz my hair and seal with shea butter mix every other day in between washes...glad to know i was doing something right lol will now also use the spritz on wash days too as applying the creamy Cantu leave in plus shea butter and oil on top was very greasy on my hair lol...thx for answering all my questions .. much love
THANK YOU. THIS HELPED ME SO MUCH.
Hi. I Know video was made years ago but the answer is Water ! Thats what penetrates the hair best 👍🏽 .
I Love Green Beauty ❤. Your the best I've come across out there. I may be bias, but I REALLY appreciate the scientific explanations. Makes complete sense and is TRUE 👍🏽.
Thanks.
Really enjoying this GreenBeauty channel! Short, sweet, ingormative, straight to the point, and life changing ♥️ My question though is is it ok to put jaboba, coconut, black janaican castor oil, rosemary on my scalp ? And if so how often? Thanks!!!!
Wow, I feel better seeing somebody else natural hair is as frizzy as mines. I thought that was a bad sign.
TheFactsAccordingToGabbie1791 me too..
Me too!
Me three 🤣
Me four!
So its normal? I thought it was bc I was messing something up
I used to put hella cream and lots of oil on my hair while it was still soaking wet 💀💀💀 big NO NO. My hair has to be Damp
Same. What hair porosity are you?
Me too
I want to let you know that the serie was helpful for my hair journey. The answer is water because it is made of smaller molecules that can easily go into our hair.
Water penetrates more easily because of it's molecular makeup. Thanks for this awesome video demo!
Water :) it is the best moisturizer for your hair bc the small molecules are able to penetrate the hair on a deeper level. Oil is a sealant but there are few oils that have the ability to penetrate your strands like the amazing coconut oil!
I have low porosity dense 4b hair...when I use a lil water and shea butter its soft...if I add oil on top its greasy and "heavy" Thank u 4 this video!.
Hey!
Water penetrates more easily because the molecules are smaller and are able to permeate the hair shaft more easily. Plus, warm water helps to lift the cuticle and increase permeability!
Excellent video!
Water penetrates the hair shaft quicker because its molecular structure is smaller than that of an oil molecular structure you said that in your first part video. Great video 😊
Love this channel
Am a new subscriber you are a professional,in hair,I love your videos,I have gone through a few is amazing.
Thank You :-)
Water penetrates the hair more easily. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us ladies.
Water penetrates hair quicker because not only is it the best moisturizer but oil is hydrophobic to water & their molecules are bigger.
Great tips
Great review
TFS Queen, love the reference to "coming to America" with the greasy jehri curl juice left on the furniture...😭😂😭😂😭😂💁🏾👍🏽🙌🏻
D K "Just let yo souul gloooo just let it shine"🎤🎶 😂😂😂 Couldn't help myself
Love that movie😍😍😍
How do you suggest using a styler after the LOC or LCO method? Especially for low porosity hair. Like a styling mousse, cream, or gel
Water as the molecules are smaller, I love your videos they are always very informative. Love from the UK
Thank youuuu.
girl I LOOOOOOVE you!!!!
Water not only because the molecules are smaller but oil is technically hydrophobic which means it naturally repels water especially if an excess amount is used
So helpful 👧🏾
Water. I believe for a few reasons. This is without googling it. I think it is because our bodies are primarily made of water. Oil, depending on type, has a tendency to sit on the strands unless the cuticles are open to receive. Water, especially if used while warm, or in steam form, can penetrate the strands easier. I hope I win. Michelle Brazil
hie green beauty the answer would be water as the moleculea are small enough to penetrate the pores of the hair into the hair shaft.... keep up the good wrk w e videos👍
Water penetrates the hair best.
I'm low porosity and I l💜ve the LOC method with my DIY products.
I'd love to see you make a video on penetrating oils Vs coating oils :)
Yay! Thanks for breaking this down! I have different levels of porosity in my hair so I’m thankful you broke this down :-)
Hi Green beauty, my answer is water that penetrates most.
Water due to the molecules being smaller makes it easier to penetrate the hair shaft. 😊
my hair is straight and my ends r super duper dry .....it seems like it's impossible to moisturize my hair ends ....but surprisingly this LOC method works really well to my hair ....I discovered this method from your channel ...so Thanku Thanku a lot ...
and my hair is high porosity also
Thanks for your informative video. Can you please give a list of conditioners thats are protein and silicone free. All my conditioners s has one or the other and my hair is really dry.
Would these methods work the same if you were going to heat style, (straighten) your hair?
Hello Again, how do you incorporate blow drying into your hair regimen?
Water penetrates the hair easier because it has smaller molecules.
I alway love your videos they are so informative! I recommend your channel to everyone! The one about nappy hair is great for children with kinky hair, helps them to feel better about their hair
thanks for this info!!!
So informative! Been binge watching a bit.Found out I have low porosity hair so been learning a lot
Well I am not on any social media sites or apps unfortunately but I am a subscriber. My answer is "water."
Water because it can penetrates the hair oil locks in moisture jojoba is excellent .Because it properties are similar to the sebum our scalp makes naturally.
With the LCO method, when straightening hair with a blow dryer/flat iron, is the oil applied prior to blow drying right after the cream is put on or is the oil applied after the hair is blow dried???
Can you mention some natural oil? I have been on a healthy hair journey for 3 years now and I'm not getting anywhere. So I decided to transition from relax to natural hair. I'm trying learn and not become a product junkie. Let me know if u have videos on that matter. And yes I am a new subscriber 😘
Which kind of cream can I use. To which part is using leave in conditioner Liquid or Cream ?
So is LOC method good to use everyday especially if you have high porosity hair. My hair often gets frizzy after I do it tho. I don't know if it's because I'm applying wrong or I'm using the wrong products. And also I do it with twist or braids in.
So it doesn't matter if you're low or high perosity, you can use either method?
hi i have low ps hear if i must put oil only ad the onder said of my hear what must go one the up said i spake dutch ihope yo understand me
Very helpful info constantly valuable content hit back to back 😍😘👍
Leave in conditioner should be applied on C(cream) stage or before L (liquid) stage in LOC method?
Which oils would be great for high porosity (HP) hair? For instance would sweet almond oil or grape seed oil work well with HP hair?
Jojoba oil, castor oil, coconut oil, or olive oil
Hello green beauty. How else can I moisturize my scalp without using creams or oils. Am I supposed to only moisturize my hair and leave my scalp please?
Hi how do I know if the method is right for me? Im not sure what to check for in order ro know if the method is working.
Are you supposed to do the loc method everyday?
Is it the same for women who have grey hair and who are going g through the menopause. I have lost hair and my daughter. Who is subscribed to you told me to look at your videos. I need genuine help, Thank you. Pearl from London.😊❤
Please my hair usually feels oily and dry when I use the lo method and I have low porosity hair which means I have to remoisturize every day. Do I have to have a full wash to remoistourize my hair. Please help me with a regimen i am concerned about washing my hair too much.
Hi! I recently did a big chop and cut off the relaxed parts of my hair. When my hair was relaxed, I would always grease my scalp after washing. Now, being natural, I used oil on my scalp. Is this a good idea? If not, what should I do to keep my scalp moisturized. It gets dry very quickly
You can continue to oil your scalp. The most important things to keep in mind about oiling your scalp is (1) accompany it with a good scalp massage (2)use a lighter oil like argan oil, sweet almond oil or jojoba. You can use a thicker oil, just make sure you use less of it (3) Use a little bit (literally two dime sizes) at a time and build it up, rather than using a lot at one time.
My hair sucks up oil fast and that is a big problem for me. I'm haven't been able to find anything to help keep it moisturized!!!!!!HELP PLEASE 🍀
The molecules that make up water are a lot smaller than those that make up oil. Therefore, water is more easily absorbed into the hair shaft :)
I am low p hair so is co wash good for me to do?
Which is better well water or tap water
is that hair split ends or frizzy? cause mine looks the same and i thought this is what mid shaft split look like
im still confused so if u have low porosity water doesnt get absorbed but mine i feel absorbs like a sponge
u said low porosity takes forever to dry n mine take a whole day to dry so which it is ?
in humid weather, my hair frizz up and becomes huge !!
in dry winters its soft silky n shiny n straight
original hair type was soft waves now i dont know what this is !!
What kind of oil are you using there? Is that chamomile?
Thanks so much for this video
When you say liquid do you mean just water ? Or a liquid leave in conditioner ?
is a cream like a leavi in?
I will say WATER just because the structure of the molecule is tiny enough to enter the culticles of our hair strands. PLus water is actually the only great moisturizer our hair need. All the other things(oil & creams) we just add to keep in the moisture longer.
Where does a leave-in conditioner come into all of these please? I thought the L was for that 😭
Chifu Mbonu me too boo 😂 after I wash my hair, I think it’s healthiest for my hair if I do, leave in cream and oil. When I blow dry my hair and it doesn’t feel crispy
@@gigiajavon122 You can use water or leave in
water, leave-in(cause it's a cream) then oil
@@dejanae8415 Green Beauty just said the Liquid step -L- should always be WATER.
@@MK-hh1vo I get that but you can leave in conditioners as well whose first ingredient is water. Whenever I use water it leaves my hair dry just do what works for your hair
Can somebody help me??
I don’t know which porosity I am. When I add water/liquid to my hair is soaks it up slowly and when I’m using to much product it’s very greasy. But when it drys it’s very soft and defined and not greasy, and it becomes dry very fast. Like when I do the L.O.C. method in the morning before school the next morning it’s SUPER dry. So can someone mabey help me with which porosity I am? 😅😅
can you make a video on how to get your curly hair back after using perm for a long time? Please?
The damage caused by perms/relaxer is permanent. Here is a link to a video with more information on that - ruclips.net/video/_lMauJ9-jUE/видео.html
Water because the molecular structure is small enough to actually penetrate the hair strands. Moisture always starts with H20!!
Sorry I don't have Twitter and my IG is in my business name Premier Naturals By K2
What about oil mixtures?
My hair is so very dry it only looks moist when its twisted or braided after washing .when I take the twist out it looks very dry I've tried everything please help
Water! Cause of smaller molecules. But I am not on Facebook and Twitter.. But am subscribed to your RUclips channel and follow you on Instagram.
Can you do a video on dry flaky scalps?
Than you!! Cuz my daughter's scalp is dry and super flaky. I just get so confused.
Does the type of oil matter?
So you can have high and low porosity
Do you have any tips for medium porosity hair?
ruclips.net/video/z2YtPil_Gac/видео.html
can I wash my hair after doing lco?
water! this is because the molecules are a lot smaller, which is why it is best that it is the first step whenever doing the loc or lco
Water because it has smaller molecules than oils and the smaller the molecules the more deeper and easier its absorbed by our hair strands though porosity plays a major role in the rate of absorption low porosity absorbs slowly and holds onto it while high porosity absorbs quickly and swells
Man I have high and low porosity. In the front I have high porosity and the back it is high
Can leave in be use as a cream ? I'm wondering cause you didn't use leave in you used water instead ?
Yes, leave-in can definitely be used as a cream. I have learned in my hair journey to not pay too much (just some) attention to the name of a product (cream, leave-in, butter, pomade).
Water because the molecules are very small hence penetrate the hair strand.Actually water is the best moisturizer one can ever use.On the contrally, Oil cannot penetrate the hair shaft more easily because its molecules are very big.
