I hope you've been reading all the positive press you've received in Liverpool and the UK. Can't wait to see more. If you are ever visiting Lisbon- another port city- I'd love to show you around! Congrats and best wishes

    Hey Korean Billy, I loved hearing your Scoucer Dialect Video.
    I was born in Bournemouth so I speak 'RP' or the 'Queens English'. But I have some cousins who are from Liverpool. My Cuz Dianne came to visit us in Summer of 1965 as the Beatles were performing in Bournemouth. Diane actually helped me learn to swim that year when I was 10 years old. She also taught me some 'Scoucer' so I already knew many of the 'Scouce' words and expressions. it brought back fond memories of when i was 10, thanks.
    I am 62 years old now and working from my home in Cebu Philippines, as an On-Line teacher to Chinese kids and also with tutoring.co.kr to Kirean Students (mostly adults).
    A new student, Rimi had just come back from a trip to USA and met some British guys. But she told me none of them sounded like me and find it difficult understanding what some of the words they spoke were/meant!
    I remembered coming across this Video by a Korean, explaining 'Scouce'. I will pass on the RUclips URL's to Rimi as I am sure she will love hearing a fellow countryman from Korea, explain what 'Scoucers' say, very well (in a good British accent by the way).
    Cheers mate!
    David (tutoring.co.kr/home/tutor/?searchname=David)

    You lad, are a legend! I thought you had all of them spot on, I'm born and bred Scouse and I've used and heard all of these. Also, just to let you know, 'la' is an abbreviation of 'lad' and yes, you use it as you would the word mate. Keep up the good work la!

    I don't think Billy's right about Scousers saying 'la' more often than 'mate', not nowadays, anyway. It's also pronounced 'laa', much longer than 'la', when it is used.

    You're doing the "la" wrong, you are doing it like "le" as in "leg" - but its more of a "lar" as in "large".

    • @ranunculo1979
      @ranunculo1979 6 лет назад +3

      Exactly. Not to be rude to Billy but... His pronunciations are way off. Its close but like you say its LAR... and "Brekkie"... theres harshness on the K's. Its admirable attempt and as a scouser Im humbled that he loves the city so much.

    Scousers don't always say scran though but mostly they say, "i want sutton tweet yuno", which means, " i want something to eat you know". The 'De' before Asda is prounounced, "dee yasda"( thee asda/the asda). Its a funny old accent to understand.

Just thought you'd like to know dont mean anything bad by it.

    "De or Da" before Asda is put before any noun and replaces the word "the." I'm semi scouse. You would say "I'm going to see arr kid at" DA OZZY." If we were that scouse we would use the very common OZZY, instead of hospital, then we would certainly not correctly use the word "the" before OZZY - we'd use DA. Other examples "goin da pub for a bevvy (beer)." "Got a bifta (cigarette) la?." "Arr-ey dares(there's) da bizzies(police)."
