So agree with you about not needing detail. For me, the essence of a good oil painting is that it gives the illusion of detail, yet on closer inspection, you're looking at masterfully placed strokes of color placed side by side with soft edges & a few hard.
Insane Daniel, thanx a lot for brush settings and canvas ! I give up with artrage At this moment because I don't understand how to get pretty result like this, but now going to retry for sure ! thank you !
Really enjoyed & was inspired by this vid Daniel - found myself in the zone almost as much as when I am making art myself. I liked your relaxed commentary too - just enough technical info to be helpful but not overwhelming and your musings about art & life are a delight. Thank-you.
Thank you for the amazing words! Thank you! It is so important to know these videos are finding a connection out there. Thank you for the inspiration 💪
Very inspiring, thank you! I'm looking into Artrage to find that more immediate, raw experience in digital painting. So, this was just what I needed :)
@Daniel Ibanez Cool settings thanks! Maybe these are just the type of tips I need to get started in art again. I have all kinds of art programs, and not one finished painting/drawing. The creativity is there telling me to draw, always doodling, but I always get bored from the way preset brushes are.
Hi Daniel! Thanks for posting the AR6 videos for us with all of the great info! Two years ago, while painting in AR5 I wanted to recreate Monet's "Under the Poplars" and I found that the real Monet-Magic happens at 4% oil in the loading attribute. Thanks for reminding me about that. That is the key to a wonderful oil brush in ArtRage - 4% loading. I was able to recreate Monet's brushstrokes with that setting. I compared the output of AR against a high-resolution image of his painting and it was spot on. The only other goal I wanted to create, which I have not done yet, was to create a rounded head, like Monet used, instead of square brushes. He did use many double-sided dagger brushes too (langue de chat or “cat's tongue”) but most of his paintings look like the strokes are all rounded. The genius of a "cat's tongue" brush I guess. It can do it all and it worked for him. Thanks, Daniel!
Here are most of my images. I took a year off from painting. My main Janesville California painting is using that Monet oil brush set at 4%. Plus, a slightly modified Square Canvas 2 brush. If I remember correctly the first pass of the painting was the SC2 brush followed by the oil brush. They worked like a charm! roberthopkinsart.weebly.com/index.html
@@DanielIbanez i did such question at the artrage forum time ago. They explained me, though im not using ar these days but i forgot. But thx for your feedback
hello sir , good to see some ppl using this sorftware underated if you ask me quick question if i may : 1 can we change the form of a tool ? like i know i can get from round to square but can we get other form ? esp. for the oil brush 2 i wonder if you have advice for someone who want to do some gouache like painting on artrage ? any preset/options i can play with to get that guache feel in this software ? wishing you and yours happy holidays and thx for sharing those with us
Hello! I will do a video of all the Artrage bursh types available... you can get so many from the sliders in the settings.. it is amazing. But for the gouache... I don't think Artrage has a good option for that at the moment.
I would love to share some of the brushes i have made and a few paintings i have done in artrage, how should i get in touch? I dont think i will ever use any other program but artrage i feel my quality with this program and its realisim is top quality and unlike any other software.

Hi Daniel! I think your artwork is really impressive. I´ve already done some paintings in Artrage for Android but now I ´m trying in Windows and it changes and increases completly the possibilities. I´m using Artrage 5 and I don´t know if there are significant differences. I saw in your tutorial that you have the option "real oils". I didn´t see that in my Artrage, do those brushes come with Artrage 6 or you created them? Thanks a lot for your tutorials, they are really inspiring!
Thank you! Artrage 6 has much improved oil painting and brush variety. That and the brush designer are good reasons to upgrade... But I would try the demo out first to make sure it would be useful to you! Thank you again for the awesome comment. The brushes in the video are just made by adjusting the sliders for the oil brush settings. So yes, available to all!
@@sydneysolomon5500 this painting doesn't require any brush pack. I created all the brushes for this painting by playing with the settings for the oil brush tool... (Those sliders for stiffness, aspect, etc). The texture when painting in RH comes from the canvas itself. So you can go into the canvas settings and change what type of surface you're working on. 'Rough paper' or 'smooth canvas'. Each different virtual surface will give you different interactions with your paint strokes
@@DanielIbanez Gee, then I do not see how it helps me, or anyone. You happen to be a very talented digital painting, most looking at this are not. It is too bad that you do not have the settings for the brushes. I am so so excited to share the synergistic settings for this brush and the canvas"
@@sydneysolomon5500 the settings are in the video :). You can also check out one of my newest videos... Published yesterday. It has a bunch of great brush settings to use as well. You're right that brush settings will not fix drawing problems or proportion issues...
