Pickering is Great, Pickering is Beautiful but, Pickering NEEDS A SOUL. The 1st proposal was perfect to achieve it. There was really a well balanced consideration for the old and young and redefining Pickering Town Center for the better. Now sadly I find myself again going out West to find something to do on the weekends.
Great Video BTW! You do great work👌

    Born and raised here.
It’s time to move. There’s already a huge problem with traffic on the weekends especially so adding thousands of units to the busiest part to the city makes no sense.
Ajax, another story. Downtown harwood is a absolute DUMP. Lots of promises made but nothing done.
Taxes are a joke. The bylaw officers are a joke. Road services are a joke.
Want to see city workers go to Hollywood donuts and you’ll find them drinking coffee relaxing on your dime.
Try and talk to someone with concerns and you’ll get nowhere. Shame shame.

This matter will go before the NEW council and mayor once they are elected this fall. So the future of the City Centre will be in their hands. Pickering residents - talk to your candidates and voice your opinions - where ever they may sway :)
My take is that there should be no way in heck that anything should be permitted to proceed at the city centre without ensuring we get our public facilities, and public square, that we have already spent millions developing plans for. “Maybe later” isn’t good enough - it needs to come first! Cheers 🙌

These projects could go way over budget given the current realities, our Property Taxes are already very high and I don't want to have the burden of having to pony up to cover overruns in the future.

Thank you for making these videos Fahad, they are very informative and the cinematography is fantastic. The original city center vision would definitely have enriched Pickering as a city and if the plan had proceeded as such, may have offset enough of the cons that come with living in a higher density city but now there doesn't even feel like there's a silver lining to the situation - I'm not for the city to becoming just towers. Pickering is going to look like lakeshore by the Gardiner :(

Thanks so much for the info, Fahad. Very informative!! Truly hoping this video can help get some city centre plans back into fruition. Totally agree with you, a city centre IS the heart and soul of a community, and would be a highly valuable long-term investment for the City of Pickering. Especially considering Pickering is located directly beside Canada's largest city! We need a vibrant communal space!! Put us on the map too!

We need a Pickering downtown " feel " and this well planned Downtown Pickering project is just what we need here. Pickering has NO SOUL as there is only a huge mall, The Pickering Town Centre, which acts as one. If this mega project is CANCELLED that would render our city to remain just a bedroom community to Toronto. Pickering aspires to be a dynamic vibrant urban entity. If more and more condos replace this Downtown plan......that would be a shame. Who stands to make MILLIONS if condos replace a proposed new library and a new performing arts centre ? DEVELOPERS....of course. The City of Pickering Council must resurrect the original Downtown plan.

@@nicoletremblay3217 your very opinion only, commenting that money is wasted in cars only makes sense if you do NOT rely on one. I still think that we're crowding a very well distributed neighborhood and making more difficult for people to live quietly. I'd say take your buildings elsewhere. Isn't there enough land in Canada for that?

2nd plan sucks … doesn’t seem to care about anything but “income” and will become a lesser version of what it could have been…more of a concrete jungle…with less space for residents to enjoy within our own community…..a place to live and work also needs to be a place you love to be in…just my opinion….

  • @JL1MB

You seem to be down on parkland and big on high rise buildings. Hmmm, could that have something to do with how you make your money, and nothing to do with what is really good for the area?

Bravo! Again! Excellent research! When I delegated this year at Pickering City Council , I mentioned your previous video as an example of clear communication with an overview, that the City should be doing! Large changes require widespread communication! It is the fiduciary duty of elected representatives, isn't it? (BTW if these videos are a reflection of your professional work, then I am truly impressed. Why not run for Mayor next time?)
